Recently, I was handling my parent's estate. Both had passed away in their 90's. Both were WWII veterans, and I was there to try and place our family's antiques with the most reputable antique appraiser. I was misled. Charges were tacked on AFTER the contract was signed, and that is just the beginning! They arrived a day early stating they would help me pack and had me leave the house to get boxes stating there had to be "an element of trust". Some items were missing after they hurriedly rushed to get back home. When the "dealers" came to the residence to pick up the items, they loaded things such as an antique 4-poster bed into their truck, with NO padding, NO furniture cushioning, nothing. Items were damaged, stained and ruined. My families possessions/antiques, many of them very rare and worth a considerable amount, were SOLD ONLINE for $1.00, $2.00, $5.00 --whereas comparable items are online (ebay) for 10x that amount. When I went to retrieve the items that did not sell (a 10 hour drive) I found them scratched and stepped on. I have cause to believe these people are either ignorant or are major scam artists.
