Convenient pub if you have some time to pass after security in Ottawa International Airport. Food quality is good and their drinks menu, although short, is good as well with cocktails, some ok wine and even some local beers. Service was very good. Our flight to Halifax was delayed an hour, so we opted to eat something rather than go hungry on the plane. D'Arcy McGee's has two locations in Ottawa: this one, and the one on Sparks Street. When I took a look at the menu, there were some appetizers that we wanted to get. However, they weren't serving anything any apps; just some of the main dishes. The confusion may have stemmed from the online menu pertaining solely to the Sparks location, which may have been why the airport menu was so sparse; I've come to expect that from airport restaurants. The fish and chips was the dish we ended up ordering. It's worth noticing that the dishes were quite overpriced for their serving size; again, to be expected in the airport. The fish was mediocre, and the fries relied on condiments and salt to be halfway decent. Service was fine as well. It can get pretty busy (writing this two years and three months since the start of the pandemic), so waiting times can get pretty long. I was heading home today and had lunch at D'Arcy McGee's at the airport. I've been there a couple times over the years and it hadn't been a good experience. I ordered Butter Chicken Curry. It was just okay. The sauce was tasty but there was a lot of it. There wasn't a lot of chicken, though. It definitely didn't look like the picture. The naan was hard. It definitely wasn't worth $18. This establishment is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, small business at the Ottawa International Airport. I've been coming to the airport early and eating here before my flight for many years (minus the missing pandemic years). They charge Airport prices as per usual, but aside from the premium prices they charge; I have consistently found their food and service to be excellent. My favourites are the classic Burger and the Chicken Club Sandwich. Their Chili Poutine & the Chicken Caesar Salad are also good but I'm disappointed with the small portion sizes. read more

Firstly I must conclude Ottawa has some seriously awesome pubs (in the golden triangle and centretown) in which I spent a good amount of time and money drinking pints and eating pub food back in the mid 2000's. D'Arcy's holds a special place in the downtown Ottawa scene. Back in the day when I lived in O-town it was a popular watering hole for political staffers as it was literally stumbling distance from their place of work (Parliament Hill) as it was on the corner of Wellington and Elgin. We had many a night there where pints flowed into the wee hours and conversation and laughter was had. When the new terminal was built in Ottawa airport it was an interesting decision to put at DM in the terminal. Definitely a good place to have a pint. Unfortunately flying through we had a flight delayed so decided to pick up some food. My experience was a really horrible chicken tikka masala. I ordered it asking for it to be hot. I really enjoy spice and can handle some heat. What came out was a very salty and not the best tikka lacking other flavour. Beer always makes life better however the Tikka was a dissapointment. I slowly ate it as I was starved after coming off a long flight. If you come here and in the mood for a burger get the Guinness burger. Heading out for a flight and thought I would stop off and have a bite to eat. I ordered the fish tacos and a poutine on the side. THE TACOS: It was more like tortilla with coleslaw and on shrimp sized piece of fish. THE POUTINE: The beef flavoured gravy was delicious, unfortunately, the cheese curds were very sparing - they probably put 1/4 cup of the curds. The entire plate cost me $30.00. The waiter was very nice and funny - great guy. The place is neat and clean, it is a nice place to just sit and wait for your flight as you enjoy a small bite to eat. Cons: - I ordered a spinach and arugula salad, add chicken breast, and it was over $18. In some instances I might not consider that high, but the portion was not that large and the chicken breast was also rather small. There were way too many red onions but I ate around them. I ordered their wings but i thought their wings had too much sauce, plus with only regular or spicy to choose from, you don't have much choice. Overall food was an okay, but I would consider this as a decent place to kill time if you are stuck in the airport and want to grab something to eat and drink. I have been to this location several times and it's been ok. This time, i ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, with chicken. It arrived suspiciously quickly. When I commented on the fast service, the server said "we won't mess around". Well. Within a couple hours, I paid the price in the airplane washroom. I suspect the chicken was the culprit. If stars were given for the amount of fries for the price, this pub would get 5 stars. I was stunned at the amount of fries I got for under $5. I ended up throwing a lot of them away because much as I hate wasting food, I couldn't eat that much. The fries claim to be fresh cut, but as a fries connoisseur, they genuinely tasted like frozen fries. If they are indeed fresh cut, perhaps it is a poor choice of potato variety? On to the service: the man behind the bar was most helpful, thank you. I stood for the longest time before I could speak to any of the servers. They all just kept passing me by, telling me to sit anywhere. This is an airport location. People have limited time. I wanted to ask a question about the menu before deciding whether to eat there. As I sat eating my fries outside the pub, a manager was talking to one of the servers at one of the outside tables. The server was telling off the manager. Those of us nearby waiting for our plane could not hear the manager, but could all hear every word of the rude server. She was accusing the manager of picking on her. The manager remained calm. Fantastic and friendly service! Had the soccer match on the TV's and even accommodated to put a double shot of Jamison's whisky in my husbands Starbucks latte! Having severe food allergies to meat one would expect that the restaurant who offers vegetarian burgers would have ways to make the burger without touching meat. This is not the case so I asked for it to be cooked separately and the cooking staff laughed at me. So not cool! If you offer a vegetarian burger you had better have a way to not infect it with meat juices or particles for us that can't tolerate the enzymes! Not to mention service was slow!
