Films stocked cover the whole film genre spectrum from kids to comedy to horror. The shop also stocks a wide range of sweets, crisps, popcorn, ice lollys and soft drinks as well as rollover hotdogs at lunchtimes. The cost for film hire is per night and is roughly about the same as any other bricks and mortar hire shop nowadays. The only downside to the shop is that it's superbusy at lunchtimes with schoolkids as it's on the road into town from the Island's secondary school and it's the normal stop off to stock up of sweets and fizzy juice. So if you need to pop in to get a dvd or to be served quickly avoid going between 1 and 2 in the afternoon.

They are a welcomed addition who specialise in Watches and Jewellery. They can replace a watch battery instantly; other places made you wait an hour for this! They have a huge range of watches, and since DD Morrisons left they are oen of the few dedicated places for Jewellery like this. They can make a ring or watch smaller or larger in size which is always useful! I really like this wee shop and would recommend anyone go in even for a look! When looking for a special gift you are bound to find something to your liking in here.

A new management team took over last year in the hope to rebuild the name of Harris Tweed. With the biggest mill Mackenzie's shut for business the future lies with Shawbost and Carloway mills. But with no work going out to the weavers we have to wonder how the authority expects Harris tweed to survive. The authority are located down a side street 10 minutes from the town centre and are there for anyone with questions regarding Harris Tweed. The saddest thing is that now there is no-where on Lewis to buy Harris Tweed, there is one shop in Harris which sells it but we are hopeful Shwabost mill will soon open a shop and that the industry gets back to how it was just a few years ago.

Tech-Mobile is a great, fairly new business run by a local young person…read more They have a bricks and mortar premesis just outside the town centre that stocks a wide range of computer associated fixtures and fittings including laptops aswell as mobile phones, mp3 players and cameras. They also provide services for fixing mobile phones, unlocking them, website construction as well as fixing computers and laptops. We recently took our laptop in as it had picked up a virus and it was fixed for the next day for a reasonable price. They'll also visit you house or business, the length of the Islands, to look at your pc and help get it up and running again or help with setup, so you don't even need to leave your house!

Some items are a bit expensive but the pieces are stunning. All are sterling silver with various stones or celtic designs on them. They are also a book shop and stock hundreds of books. A lot are local books, gaelic books but they also have lots of others crafting, fiction, autobiographies etc. The staff are friendly and the shop itself is always clean and fresh and well laid out so you don't tend to bump into other customers when in there. It is well worth going in here when in the town.

It is small but full of books of all varieties. I really like coming to this shop. It is quite amazing what you can find in there! Sometimes relatively recent books to older book you have always wanted to read but struggled to find a copy of! Their books are affordable and it's not uncommon to leave with an arm full. There is usually only one member of staff on when you go in as it's a pretty quiet shop but he/she is friendly and often up for a yarn when you go in. If visiting it cold be worth a look to see what gem you may find!

The shop has a clean fresh feel to it with wooden floors and white walls. They sell a range of gifts as well as items made by local crafters. From Harris Tweed cushions and bags to jewellery and notebooks. They also sell incense and beautifully made candles. This shop is definitely worth going into when visiting Stornoway, it is unlikely you will not find a gift (or three) that you like. The staff are friendly and helpful and if they have sold out of an item you are looking for they will re-order it for you.

The emphasis is on the more modern, quirky but beatiful items, though sometimes items can be a bit on the pricey side. They fully support local craftspeople and stock a range of handcrafted local items including tweed bags and notebooks. The staff are always friendly and super helpful, well worth a visit.

Lighting electrical is a great wee shop on the main street in Stornoway town centre…read more As the name suggests they sell electrical goods like cookers, washing machines, fridge freezers to smaller household electricals like hoovers, microwaves and lamps. You can also get parts for electrical equipment, hoover bags, bulbs and all associated bits and pieces. Though the shop itself is fairly large, with all the items for sale it can feel quite cramped, especially if there are a few people in the shop. Staff are super helpful and friendly. The only downside being that they still follow the old stornoway tradition of shutting for lunch, so you have to make sure you don't schedule a visit for lunchtime!
