One of my patient's recommended this bakery while we were in the St. Mary's area. We made a special 20 minute side trip to get here before it closed on a Saturday afternoon. I walked in not expecting an area full of prepared breads, pastries, desserts that you could grab and go! I walked to the other side of the facility where there were tables to serve breakfast/lunch and a display case featuring baked goods. Not everything in the case was marked so I asked the employee if they still had "Bunker Hill's" available. Again, a recommendation by my patient. So, I got one Bunker Hill, one walnut maple donut and a coffee for my husband. The total was around $4 which I expected way more than that! Most places in the area we live in charge over $2 for one pastry item and just as much for a cup of coffee. Keep in mind that if you do come here and spend under $10, it is cash only. Anything over $10 you may use a card. So, the Bunker Hill - absolutely out of this world. It was almost the texture of a sticky bun, with a glaze on the outside with some cinnamon in it. Once you took a bite, you knew the good stuff was coming! The center was filled with a heavy, deliciously sweet cream. And when I say filled, it was almost solid cream in the center! Despite how delicious it was, I could not finish it all in one sitting. The donut was alright but the inside out cinnamon roll - I would come back here to get another one in a heartbeat if we came back to the area. I would consider purchasing other products from this bakery if we returned. It does close early in the afternoon so the timing would have to be right. But totally worth the 20 minute out of the way drive. read more

Stopped in for a late morning donut/coffee fix on our drive thru St Marys. So many tasty looking choices, hard to decide. Got a pecan roll, a peanut creme filled donut and a large coffee. This bakery is an outstanding restaurant and business in the St. Mary's community. I visited DD's on a Saturday morning with my family for breakfast. The restaurant was adhering to all social distancing guidelines; the staff wore masks, tables were spaced apart, and all surfaces were sanitized between customers. My husband and I live in the Pittsburgh area and were pleasantly surprised by the very affordable pricing of the breakfast menu. My family of 5 all ate full breakfast meals for only ~$40 total. A couple of us ordered the pancakes which were MASSIVE. They were literally the size of the plate. They were so delicious and filling that I couldn't even make it through one whole pancake. The bakery counter was filled with a delightful array of freshly prepared donuts, and the adjoining sales room was fully stocked with fresh baked goods, including pies, stuffing, buns, bread, and many other yummy treats. I've been here on several occasions and on each one the place has been a fantastic place to get breakfast. Part of the reason for such a high score is that in the area there are few better places to hit up. They make all their breads, and everything you get is homemade, and not some freezer food waiting to be thawed out. Awesome bakery and restaurant! I had a donut from here while at a business meeting last week so I needed to find the place and try it again! I didn't have time for a full breakfast so I had a "Bunker hill". I kind of condominium bun with a surprise inside, it's creme filled! A great twist on an old favorite. I also got a chocolate hermit for later on and it was really unique and tasty. It was like a chocolate donut without a hole, and also a little like a soft cookie with thick wonderful chocolate icing! Another surprise was that it was filled raisins and walnuts! I would never had thought, raisins in chocolate ?!?!? Pretty darn good, but it's rich so you will need milk to wash it down! Had breakfast here last weekend and the staff was very nice. The food was good and the bakery is amazing with yummy treats. Also a little shop to buy fresh breads and candies, all different stuff! Every time I go there, I stand there awkwardly while the workers just look at me for 5 minutes before coming to deal with me. They don't address me or say we will be with you in one minute, just look at me weird. The final straw was yesterday when I went with my mom to get a cake for my brother. I also had my two kids with us. Once again, they just stared at us while we patiently waited. We eventually just left and went to Wal-Mart. Just sad how terrible the service is here since we always try to support local. Just horrible service every time I go. We will just take our money elsewhere. read more

We had a good range of breakfast items, all were quite good. Probably 4 stars for food. Service was poor. It was slow, no refills were offered, my coffee cup was empty most of the time we were there. Food sat in the window for quite a while before being brought out. Decided to get a pastry and was ignored while waiting for five minutes watching dishes being moved around. DDs has a great selection for breakfast and an OK selection for lunch but after lunch they shut down. Also no WiFi is available for public use, so leave your laptop at home. I don't know who was working when the previous reviewers went because this is hands down THEE WORST I've visited In Several states over several months. I'd give zero stars if that was an option. The waitress greeted us at the door with, "you have 2 minutes to place an order and if you don't know what you want you might want to go somewhere else." Swear. She handed us a menu and walked off. We should have left but we had a drive ahead and I wasn't sure she was serious lol. She was. She came back and begrudgingly took our order. The salad there was as sad as the waitress. Hamburger and a sandwich came. To be fair the Reuben was pretty good. The hamburger came with 2 pickles. We asked for lettuce and tomatoe and she rolled her eyes and huffed off. Everything here is served in plastic or wax paper and we probably could've went to Wendy's and saved some money and foregone Miss I hate my job and all you ppl in here. This is a MUST-stop for brunch whenever we're in town. We can't get a better breakfast where we live in Brooklyn (and we've got a lot of great options). I highly recommend the Kitchen Sink. For lunch, the Reuben sandwich is top notch--on the most amazing fresh-baked rye bread. We never leave without purchasing some of this place's bread. Other favorites of mine are the cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. Service is friendly and attentive. You really can't go wrong here--unless you are trying to avoid gluten. read more
