First impressions are good - nice, fresh interior and a good mix of tables and areas to sit. Friendly service too - the kitchen is located kind of in the middle of the place - which is unusual - no doubt a legacy from whatever inhabited the space before Kwan's came along. What this perspective does provide however, is our first major clue that this is no ordinary Thai restaurant. In short, the food is excellent. At first, the menu might not seem that comprehensive, but what they do have is all top notch and carries with it a fresh - almost Japanese - quality to it. The lamb Masaman was absolutely top notch. So too the excellent burgers and my entree of crumbed chicken wings was delightful and quite flavoursome. This is an excellent alternative to the local Thai misery. As Molly would say, "Do yourself a favour". Try Kwan's - you won't regret it. Very reasonably priced too.

After walking into a nicely furnished and modern looking restaurants we had a look at the menu and settled on chicken panang curry, beef flat noodle stir fry with a side of rice and roti. Once the coke out we realised we had not been skimped on the portion department they were HUGE! The panang curry is probably one of the best that I have tried and the noodles were the perfect ratio of noodle to sauce that they weren't to dry, nor drenched in sauce. One suggestion I do make if your going to order an curry, order two sides of rice since there is that much rice! Wish this place was in Sydney! It would be my favourite!

I've been going there for very good reasons. The food is excellent. It's got acceptable décor. Service is usually pretty fast. Did I mention that the food is excellent? It's pretty well priced too. I usually grab a red beef curry, and that's under $15. A bit of coconut rice and maybe an appetiser, and you've got a nice dinner for two for around $25. Occasionally there are mistakes made when you order, like getting chicken instead of beef, and that sort of thing. But they'll bend over backwards to make things right. That's part of the reason I like them. They're very customer satisfaction focused. Give them a go. You'll really like the food. Especially if you get off the train at Syndal after a hard day at work.

Being that I am yet to try any of their meat options, I can't speak to the quality of those, but the vegetables are fresh and the overall flavor of everything on the menu is really good. I would also recommend the Thai beer Singha with just about anything on the menu, as in my limited experience it is the best Thai beer that is widely available, and drinking an Australian beer at a Thai restaurant is just stupid.
