We then decided to turn off the monitoring and advised the company of such twice via telephone. After still receiving invoices from Tasco, I returned a written request to decease the monitoring and related billing. In return, I received a certified letter warning of legal action if I did not maintain their monitoring for 5 years. The company representative directs me to the back of an otherwise short agreement letter that references a purchase contract for 5 years. No where on the front of this contract is a 5 year term mentioned. All other aspects of the services contract are clearly geared to the details of purchase of the system and of a pre-paid annual service contract. The lack of mention on the front pages of the agreement, referring to any obligation thereafter is clearly obvious. Consider another alarm company - or at least ask pointed questions with regard to commitment time with regard to their monitoring.
