It's hard to know how to rate this place. It seems to have a poor reputation generally. Personally I've found the service variable. Sometimes I've gone in and found it virtually impossible to actually find a sales assistant, let alone get one to help me. Other times, I've found them incredibly helpful and friendly, going out of their way to give me all the info I might possibly need about an item. I'd say, on balance, it's worth having a look, you never know you may get a good deal. They do have a really good range of stock.

The staff also know what they are talking about and can help you pick out a game if you are not completely sure what you want. It is quite a small shop but that doesn't mean it has less stock. One of the few shops in Darlington that sells computer games and well worth a drop in.

Last year my girlfriends laptop conked out and her insurance company told her to take it for a valuation on how much it would be to fix. she took it in there to see if he would be able to do anything about it, he charged her a flat rate for the tests, then when she went back to see how much it would be to fix it he said he would try free of charge. Next time she went in, unfortunately it was beyond repair, but he prepared an engineers report at no extra cost so that she could send it off to the insurance company and she would get the correct valuation on the replacement. More recently, I went in as I wanted a new desktop PC, and got a quote to see how much it would be for the spec I wanted, and found that it was around £300 cheaper than the equivalent if I had gone online and got it manufactured by a larger company. Shows how much commission they take! If you have any computer problems I would recommend this place, he won't overcharge like some of the places in Middlesbrough.

Being on Teesside Park, you have lots of free parking, which is always a bonus. Currys sells lots of interesting stuff, televisions, computers, washing machines, cookers, etc. It's a tidy, well laid out and brightly lit store, very pleasant to wander around. The service can be a bit variable, though. I would say on the whole the staff are friendly and helpful. Most times I've been in there, I've managed to find someone who can spare a few minutes to explain the differences in products to me and help me narrow down my choice. Usually they will even give a print out of one or two products so I can go home and think about it. I would definitely recommend a wander round Currys if you are looking for an electrical item. They have a good range of stock and friendly staff.

Game isn't the cheapest store it's more expensive then GameStation and Grainger Games which are cheaper for new and used games. The staff are quite pleasant although I had one problem during January with a price sticker on 2 games I was buying saying 2 games for 30 which they wouldn't sell me them for that price as the offer had ended they should removed the sticker which they didn't.

Many products are priced cheaper than at competitors stores on the Teesside Shopping site. Been in a couple of times and found that the product I wanted was not in stock, but was available at the Portrack Lane store. Staff were happy to give me directions to the Portrack Lane store, but were unable to reserve me the products I wanted.

It does have some basic learn a language software & computer supplies, inks, mice & cables. The young chap serving was very helpful & even telephoning people to get answers he couldn't give personally. From the outside it one of those shops that you wouldn't give a second glance, however I have found that when others can't supply this shop will. I would certainly recommend going in to have a look.
