This place is a combination of a NJ diner (gigantic menu), Paris cafe (layout of the restaurant with wicker-like chairs), and a Chili's or Applebee's (casual ambiance.) The waiter was friendly and spoke English. Service was fast and the waiter was attentive without being annoying. We only ordered fries and drinks, but the waiter didn't have any problems with that. He kept the drinks flowing whenever we requested. There is something for everyone here- booze, food, and dessert! The menu is massive which makes me question if the food is fresh or frozen, but all i can report is that the fries were good. It comes with your choice of 2 dipping sauces. This place is conveniently located on the main shopping strip in Wiesbaden, so I will probably come back here again.

Stattcafé has been a popular hangout for students and its' local neighbours for many years…read more Located just off of the famous Leipzigerstraße in Bockenheim on Grempstraße, it welcomes the public through their wide sidewalk café space, allowing a slight hesitation for deciding to grab a table to taste one of their pleasant meals or sit down for a late breakfast. Once inside, you are greeted with a living room style feel and can find yourself easily at home, ready to put your feet up - but don't. The portions of food are fair as well as the prices. I wasn't too fond of their chili though. I consider myself a chili connoisseur, (after having lived in Texas for eleven years) and the chili at Stattcafé did not taste like chili. I did enjoy a cup of their cappuccino and a wonderful pancake dessert with fruit and vanilla ice cream. The staff are great. One thing I did find is that the food was not consistent with taste and how it was plated or served. I would attribute this to who the cook of the day was. Each to his own. It's a great place to read a book or meet a friend. I favor the back of the cafe since I have scouted to outlet sources for my laptop. One at the very back, next to the door to the balcony and the other outlet is just on the left hand side by the first table as you enter the back part of the cafe. Unfortunately, there is no wifi. Note on Weekends: Surprisingly, on the weekends, it becomes a family get together and I DO MEAN FAMILY. I was there on a Saturday and a Sunday had both times, the cafe was full of children. It was fun to be around kids but if you are looking for a place less child inhabited then the weekends at Statt may NOT be the best place. P.S. I love children so it was a really treat for me.

I order a speciality alcoholic tea, and it was exactly what I needed on a cold rainy day. I also had the vegan schitnezl, which had a peanut butter sauce and jalapeños on it. Good portion size, and interesting flavors. Our server was very attentive and no issues there.

I got the Lachsvocado rosti, which was really awesome! It's served up on a bed of fried egg, smoked salmon and a generous portion of avocado on a bed of lettuce. It was well worth the $13 for the potion served. I didn't realize it at first, but I guess this is a chain and I generally avoid them. I'd highly recommend checking this place out for a fun spin on typical German fare. They also have a generous selection of drinks as well.
