BUT: I was on a mission, and that mission was to find the best dark chocolate gelato in Rome, and somehow this place caught my eye, with its super dark gelato flavors. So I gave it a try... and wow. Mission accomplished. They have a few flavors here that are truly special that I could not find elsewhere in Rome... or at least not a version as good as the versions we had here. I got a three flavor cup, and both the "dark / noir" and the "coffee chocolate" (or some Italian word for that) were amazing. I forget what the third one was. What about the other Lindt products in this store? I have no idea. I stopped buying Lindt chocolate ever since the doses I picked up at Safeway in the states failed to make it past the first round of my taste tests.

It smells amazing, obviously, and the sweetest woman was so patient with us and helped us out with choosing teas. These teas are loose leaf teas that are sold by the gram. They have hundreds of different teas from kombucha to chamomile to ginseng to orange to various black teas and green teas. The lady who helped us was so knowledgeable about different teas and you could tell she truly enjoyed what she does. I've never seen or smelled so many teas in my life. We kind of went crazy and bought 60 euros of tea but the bags were big, the prices amazing, and the smells enchanting. I knew that I couldn't find a tea shop that comes remotely close to this one in the US so we bought enough to have over months to come. Highly highly recommend this tea shop if you're looking for authentic tea!

The cashier was attentive with us as she explained what types of teas they made and how they were mainly loose leaves to help with the subtle notes and hints of flavors a tea connoisseur would be able to identify. This time when I received my Black Cherry with a chocolate shell, I quickly took my photo and broke into my treat. Still got a little messy on a particularly hot day, but not totally out of control. Even eating quickly I really enjoyed my gelato with those broken pieces of chocolate shell. This previously very popular spot had no line this time, good timing for us. I ordered the Frigidarium flavor and one that looked like a berry vanilla swirl with chocolate bits. I'm sure my mouth dropped when they asked if I wanted white chocolate, milk chocolate, or whipped cream at no additional charge. Based on the flavor palate I got white chocolate that becomes a hard shell when poured on. Loved everything about my gelato. I enjoyed both flavors with the white chocolate, and I got a bonus chocolate cookie from the Frigidarium flavor.

Cute shop with lots of sweet treats…read more Walking around, we stumbled across Frutta Secca Onorati. The employee (owner?) was very sweet. She was quick and helpful. The store is small but every corner of this shop is filled with goodies. These sweet treats aren't cheap, but made with quality ingredients. We brought back a couple of things from here as gifts for friends and family. They loved it all! If you're in the area and looking for something sweet for a loved one, definitely pay them a visit. Cute mom and pop shop.
