Honestly, I was expecting a lot more. This restaurant came recommended by my Spanish teacher and other websites I came across while researching gluten free options in Madrid. Their menu is marked well so you can rest assured they know about allergies. However, the service left something to be desired. Two servers worked the floor while we were there and we got the dud between the two. He was hasty and not listening well. We ordered the squid ink spaghetti and a pizza, artichokes to start. The artichokes were our favorite - Spanish artichokes are delicious and they were done well here, tender and paired with a great aioli. The actual entrees lacked taste and texture- the shrimp was over cooked and the pasta was in need of flavor. You need reservations here since they fill up quickly. I'd come back since it's a gluten free safe restaurant but I wouldn't say it's a must try in Madrid. read more

The girls were in need of a cuisine change after wandering around Spain for a week. We were fortunate to come across Da Nicola, a wonderful family owned Italian spot away from the tourist scene. We waited outside with the locals for the opening and were quickly seated. The rest of the early crowd was quick in ordering, obviously knowing the menu by heart. We started with the burrata, served with a nice arugula salad. It was a pleasant starter with traditional flavor, very enjoyable with a glass of wine! Pasta was on the brain for all of us. The stars of the meal were the Pest Gnocchi and Spaghetti Bolognese. The gnocchi were obviously house made, plump and tender. The pesto cream sauce was full of flavor and matched perfectly with the gnocchi. The Bolognese was a close second, obviously a nice slow cooked sauce that was very traditional in flavor and brought a lot to the party. Both the Black Pasta or Fettucine either. Both had solid traditional flavors and were well prepared. The deserts were a nice add, simple, traditional and made in-house. The cheesecake was moist and the tiramisu was full of flavor. This is a simple and traditional Italian spot. Wonderful service with no frills, and a great family environment. They also have a solid wine list. Enjoy! read more

Amazing service, wine and food!! We needed a break from tapas and found Da Nicola on yelp. The location is off a side street so is a little hard to find without knowing the are. The restaurant itself is huge and would be good for large groups. The service was great and they were very accommodating for allergies or preferences. Their full menu noted what had allergy foods and which foods could be made without. We got the gnocchi and gluten free lasagna and it was incredible!! Pre-COVID review: Bottom line: if you're a celiac, or love delicious food, come. Also, wine selection is amazing and super cheap. Gluten line: freaking heaven. Everything is labeled. Dishes come out with signs so you feel confident kitchen is careful. Long line: what a blessing when traveling to Spain. We both speak Spanish so we have no issues explaining celiac restrictions, but places like this make the whole experience stress free and effortless. Not only that, the service was amazing. We honestly went back just to hang out with our server (and we normally never go to a place twice on vacation). The wine selection is big enough, and all the wines we tried were crazy good for the price. Personally I am not celiac, my wife is, but I regularly eat gluten free to reduce cross contamination. Eating both I can tell you they do a great job in the kitchen. I would absolutely recommend. read more

My friends and I went around to multiple gluten free bakeries in Madrid looking for a sweet treat and stumbled upon this one via Uber eats. We ordered the coconut donut, lemon filled cookie, chocolate filled cookie, Dulce de leche cheesecake and chocolate pie. The only two edible desserts were the cheesecake and chocolate pie. All of the other desserts had zero flavor and awful texture. It was the equivalent of eating raw almond flour. They were so bad that we ended up throwing it all away and crossed this place off of our list. read more

Great little italian spot in Madrid's theater district. Their olive oil is delicious! It's homemade and flavored with thyme and garlic and other good stuff. My boyfriend and I shared two small pasta dishes and a tomato & pesto pizza. The dish that stood out the most to me was the squid ink pasta with mushrooms and garlic. So flavorful! FYI, when in Spain, bread is always an extra charge and they automatically start you off with it, so if you don't want it tell them to take it away! read more

They are so accommodating to every intolerance/allergy/disability. They even have a gluten free roll to start you off. I've been waiting all week to try this place but they do close midday which is what prevented me from coming sooner. Hopefully before my trip is done I can try their pasta. It's true. When in Spain, watch out for pickpockets because they are definitely watching you!!! Nicola had decent food, but what I will never forget is that I got my phone stolen right before my eyes as I was taking pictures for Yelp. Yes, while I was yelping!!! Here's what happened: I was taking food pics and laid my phone down on the table. A minute later a beggar (we were sitting outside) came over with a piece of paper with spanish handwritten on it and laid it next to my plate. I couln't help but to glance at it and tried to read it, but then my husband quickly told him to leave. He quietly left. A minute later, I realized my phone was missing. HE LAID THAT PIECE OF PAPER ON TOP OF MY PHONE. While I was glancing at what was written on it, he managed to steal my phone underneath. Words cannot describe how disgusted and pissed off I was. All my pictures of my vacation and food pics from Barcelona, San Sebastián, and Madrid all gone in a blink of any eye. So yes, be careful yelpers. The pickpockets in Spain are watching you as you eat and yelp at Nicola. Btw, the food's decent here. The salad was to DIE for. Too bad I don't have pictures! read more

This restaurant was fantastic. Really, I'm gluten free and it's hard to find a restaurant that has true gluten free options. They don't just substitute for "rice pasta" they have gluten free lasagna which was amazing! Their deserts are insane too. The rice pudding with Marscapone is bananas. This place is a wonderful find in Madrid! I've been back here three times to get the gnocchi, alfredo, and lasagna (which is smothered in cheese :)! The bread is excellent (although not free). The service is also great, and they have an English menu. The restaurant is quite large, but a wait can still be expected if you go during peak times! The wine varies in prices, but you can get a 1/2 bottle for around 5 or 6 Euros! read more

When we arrived around at 9 pm there were only a few people sitting at the tables, but by the time of 10 pm the place was packed and people were literally queuing in. They are serving a huge amount of great tasting bread with fantastic herb-infused olive oil for a fee of 1,80 euros per person. Probably the best pasta carbonara I have ever tasted. This place was a little hard to find since the building was under construction. The restaurant is big and there wasn't too many people eating. We decided to eat here since it was listed as having a gluten free menu. Their gluten free bread was freshly baked and was really good, probably the best I've had so far. We shared a salmon carpaccio for our appetizer. It was topped with black caviar, cheese, and chives. Great location right off Gran Via. Non-traditional Spanish atmosphere - bright, modern, family friendly setting. Service was spectacular. Most notable was the attention to my family's food allergy (three Celiac gluten-free and one seafood allergy). Server was familiar with concerns, considerate and supportive. For example, when my daughter showed her seafood sensitive warning card, server read it, took it to chef, and acknowledged the handling. Gluten free menu was robust. Food was delivered promptly and was quite good....and a good value. A large space so plenty of availability. Not a romantic spot, but great for travelers, families and groups. English menu, too. We ate here twice during our vacation in Madrid. The gluten free menu has a large variety of items to choose from. The first time there I had their GF margherita pizza. If you eat gluten free you know it's hard to find good bread, their GF pizza dough was great! The second time I had the GF lasagna bolognese which was fantastic. (just request a gf menu when they seat you). they gave me a hot gf roll with olive oil when they brought out the bread basket for my boyfriend, and then i had a gf pizza and a gf beer. it was all fresh, hot and delicious and made from real dough, not a frozen store-bought thing they just heated up. they even had gf tiramisu that was great too! this is right up there with my fave gf restaurant in nyc. read more
