One of my favourite Burritos in London...and luckily only a 10 minute walk form my office! That's made me a bit of a regular and I have not had a disappointing Burrito from these guys! My favourite is the Fajita Burrito, with Chicken. Then you get the usual extras-Lettuce, Cheese, Peppers, Salsa (Mix it up-I like some mild and hot together). Add some Guacamole if you are a fan and you are good to go! All the ingredients are fresh, and the portions are big! The service is amazing and compared to some other places on Leather Lane that you can wait in line quite a while for, these guys speed people through the door, and yet don't compromise on quality. Top 3 tips for this place- 1.Go big-Get all the sides and mix up on the salsa-taste sensations! 2.Be prepared to queue, but it won't take more than 5-10 mins as this guys are quick! 3.Chicken is my favourite, but the steak is pretty good as well!

The decor inside was pretty funny, but the service was a bit slow for the long queue that was waiting to order and get in. The food was excellent and the burrito bowl was super tasty! For the amount of food you get for the pound was great.

After months of hearing epic tales of Daddy Donkey from my closest network of burrito fanciers, my visit there today was completely by accident after walking to another nearby burrito vendor and finding it closed. My colleague's eyes lit up, and he said in an excited low whisper, "We could always go to Daddy Donkey...". Approaching the van I was surprised to see that it was a self-contained van, rather than the more "cart" arrangement at Freebird the popularity of the place became apparent, by way of the blue Tensabarriers erected for crowd control, and also the apologetic notice that due to Friday popularity they could only now accept orders of up to 5 burritos per customer. They were getting through the orders fairly swiftly though, and so it wasn't long before I'd negotiated the gauntlet of smiley burrito assembly line workers and was hooking with gusto into my first ever Picadillo burrito - a sort of spicy ground beef arrangement. Maybe the problem was the constant hyperbole, however my burrito verdict on this occasion was "Good". Even if you factored in the atmospheric component of sitting at the scattered handful of rickety furniture (which my colleague assured me was "very mexican"), there was no denying that what I had was a very tasty yet poorly constructed burrito... almost as if they'd rolled it sideways, such that with each bite you got a mouthful of a successive ingredient. And nobody wants a mid-lunchtime mouthful of cold sour cream. My burrito companion looked at me with deflated shoulders and confessed that he'd just chomped into a complete mouthful of rice, and that by comparison to usual it was all a bit bland. To its credit, my final bite appeared to contain most of the salsa sauce, and as I wandered up and down Leather Lane waiting for my colleague to finish I noted that the flavour persisted and was incredibly tasty. But that doesn't catapult a burrito vendor into the coveted 5-star category. There was absolutely no question as to the quality of the ingredients - however you've got to know how to assemble them right too, and on this occasion the donkey daddy made an ass of itself.

During most of the week days, there are a bunch of pop-up food stands and the market gets swarmed with amazing smells. While trotting home one day, I saw a big Mexican flag waving towards the back end of the market. Quickly, I detoured during lunch time and headed through all the stalls to find Freebird Burritos. Swedish owned and operated, these fine Scandinavians made me one of the best carne asada (steak) burritos that I've had in London. The meat was lean and juicy and the spicing was excellent. Add in some tasty refried beans, cheese and a good helping of rice all wrapped in a tasty, albeit flour tortilla. So good and I can't wait to check out one of there other locations.

I also love - not so secretly - Exmouth Market. And I love their weekday food stall set-up where you can get a quick fix of Indian plates, or thick-cut beef sandwiches or...ACTUALLYIDON'TKNOWBECAUSEIALWAYSGETBURRITOS. Freebird Burritos are great. The staff is great (point 1), and they wrap their burritos like pros (point 2). Pork, beef, chicken and vegetarian burritos are options, as are fajitas and the "naked" burritos which basically shoves all the key burrito gear into a box without a tortilla. I'm not a big meat-eater, but the meat here is great...slow-cooked, no gristle, perfect bite-sizes, mega-tender. I always get an extra side of guac (60p) because it's a rule that avocado makes everything better. In my ideal world I'd add some more kick to it but, hey, that's being extremely picky. One burrito (6 pounds-ish, depending on your modifications) is more than enough for a hearty lunch. Which means I've never tested their chips or salsa or other things (but, note, they exist as options!). Yelp note: my new "secret sauce" is half HOT sauce half mild pico-de-gallo-style sauce. End result? A delicious medium heat. Y'welcome.

We shared a big plate of taco ingredients and tortillas. It was all very good and the good news is that with the variety there was something everyone liked. The space was chill and upscale while also feeling trendy. The drinks were also nice, mostly margaritas. In the end, nothing really stood out enough for me to remember or come back for if I wasn't in the area, but it would probably make my easy list of places that won't disappoint near the office.

Unfortunately, Mestizo charges per person and the minimum and maximum is two for this item So I couldn't order for one without paying forty dollars , and I'd be damned to pay that much. Having this rule is ridiculous. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant forcing you to order something that can easily be portioned to one. I ordered a marinated chicken with rice and beans. The beans were out of this world. Such a unique flavor I definitely was not accustomed to in the states. The rice was unfortunately bland. The chicken was marinated in this red sauce and was tasty for the most part. However , when I made my way to the center it became dry and had a weird taste. If you're gonna order this dish, proceed with caution. The dessert really outshined and redeemed my visit somewhat. I ordered the tres leches cake. This dessert is basically like a Mexican version of sticky toffee pudding. There are many overlapping factors. One key difference is tres leches uses a milk and cinnamon base , so it kind of tastes like a horchata cake.
