I have been struggling through an unfortunate situation. The agent assigned to my property was nothing but kind and caring. Until I was unable to move...then she stopped be the NICE real estate agent and continually lied to me about her involvement in my house. She then lied to the people I was dealing with about the house only to force me out.Bottom line is that Mary Koontz doesn't care about anything beyond her pocketbook and doesn't care who she hurts or steps on getting there.. because of her I will be homeless by the end of the month. Having read the other reviews I felt I had to add my experience here. Like the one before me, I too had been in a difficult and unfortunate position with respect to my home when the agent from Daher Co. was assigned to my property. She was knowledgeable and diligent about the process and was able to navigate my scenario to reach a result that was in the best interest of all parties, no small feat given how much difficulty I was having trusting anyone with respect to the situation, and fearful I'd be without a place to live. To be clear, we do not end up in these situations for being in good standing - part of the work Daher does is brokering the transfer of occupancy of bank owned property. In other words, the person writing the review before me was, like myself, in a position where the bank had obtained the home in foreclosure. Daher couldn't have changed the fact that we had not paid our mortgages long enough that the house was repossessed and we had not opted to do any of the many intermediate options (modified mortgage, Making Home Affordable Act, selling on the market, working with a specialists who buy properties in foreclosure and rent to the previous owner while they decide how to proceed with any equity cashed out, etc. etc.). Instead, we had dug in and allowed it to go to auction and even then hoped to drag it out til the bank had to evict us. Daher comes in at that point to manage the property on behalf of the bank who now owns it (often out of state or one of the big government lenders, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), and are not themselves the bank nor are they owners of the property they manage in these cases. So when one ends up "homeless at the end of the month" and points a finger at Daher, they essentially are playing victim and blaming someone else for their own failure to pay their mortgage or do anything about the foreclosure that results. In my experience, Daher was able to assist me in getting very near the maximum cash for keys money possible while still buying myself about 2.5 months in my home even after I'd lost it. I could have stayed longer and taken much less money at the end of the time. I likewise could have left sooner and taken more money. Daher made the process make sense to me and assisted me in making a decision that best fit my circumstances - circumstances I had put myself in, not anyone else, much less Daher Co., who take on a very delicate and emotionally fraught situation every time one of the big lenders hire them. For me, I was grateful in the end to have the chance to start new with a cushion of money to make my transition to a new place possible. If the other reviewer chose to not take the money offered in exchange for staying rent-free in the home they lost until the County (*not Daher) evicted them, then it was on them to save during those rent-free months to put first/last/security down on their next place. But alas, we live in a culture where personal accountability is increasingly rare. read more
