We lost our boiler late last night and contacted Dahlquist this morning. By 10:00 am, the technician had arrived (the company had planned to assist "no heat" customers due to the very cold temps), the problems were diagnosed quickly, and a plan was put into action. We were given a written estimate, our new boiler will be installed tomorrow, and we've already received confirmation of that appointment. Given the cracks, leaks, and failed pumps the technician showed us today, we're completely confident in the advice we were given. We're eternally grateful and would highly recommend Dahlquist's services. read more

Ok, say what you want about these people. Go ahead. I called with an a/c problem. A tech, Taylor, was possibly available due to a necessary rescheduling. Sure enough he was on his way. He FIXED MY A/C PROBLEM without issue! He was friendly and I could tell, knew his job well. He fixed the issue and I couldn't be happier! If you want to complain about the fees they charge...go ahead. But what would you pay for a roof that's guaranteed to never leak? Answer; Whatever it costs! I purchased a home in Newbold and contacted Dahlquist to do a furnace check coming into winter. They were fast and kind making the appt. Upon arrival (90 mns late), the technician asked a few questions, looked around and then went to check the furnace. About 15 mns later he came upstairs and told me he had bad news. Showed me a pic on his phone of a rusted piece of furance, told me my furance needed to be replaced, was leaking CO2 and was unsafe to use. He told me he couldl replace my furnace for $7500+ the next day, after 1pm. He reiterated that it was unsafe to use and CO2 was leaking. When I asked why the 2 CO2 alarms that are with in 10 feet of the furance never went off during the prior 7 days I lived there, he shrugged me off. In a panic, I paid and he told me the machine was having issues sending me a receipt, and I would get it in 10 mns. Ironically there was no issue running my Amex for $7500+ With in minutes of his departure I had contacted other local places, and was told $7500 was an insane price. I called Dahlquist back and the woman who answered was kind. I explained that price was just too much - she said 'its getting cold outside, you don't have much time' and then I told her its fine - please refund me. She asked if I wanted a small sized furance. I asked why her tech wouldn't recommend that option to me, to which she had no reply. She told me to speak to the owner. She transferred me to a rude older man. He advised I can get a smaller unit for $1000 less. I declined and he said everyone is busy, and no one would do this work for me, even if they told me they would. I asked him to refund me, and he said he didn't know how but would try. I told him I would contact Amex for a dispute. I emailed them the next day, asking for a receipt, an estimate and a refund. No reply I emailed the following day (day 3) asking for a receeipt, an estimate and a refund, No reply. Day 4 I got a refund - less a $210 service all - but no receipt. The real issue is when the tech left that day, he didn't tell me that he DISCONNECTED my furnace. It was 20 degrees outside, he turned the gas off, the power to the furance, the breaker AND DISCONNECTED THE WIRING TO THE THERMOSTAT. Talk about sabotage. I went and bought he CO2 detectors, and none have gone off - there is no leak. I have gotten the furance fixed - and didn't even spend $1000. Please buyers be ware and do your home work. read more

Prompt, clean, and equipped, Dahlquist Heating & Cooling diagnosed and repaired our malfunctioning gas fireplace in one visit for less of a price than we paid twice to another company that never actually succeeded in repairing the fireplace. Purchased 2 fireplaces from this company 3 years ago for our new house. Storm collar already rusted out and when contacted to ask about warrantee or other consideration, I was sent an estimate for a hair under $2000.00 suggesting a bit different set up which my reply was "Why did you not do it that way in the first place?" No response or reasoning. Our propane fireplace in the basement has not been on once as when it was installed they never even started it or showed us instructions how to use it. A note was written on a piece of cardboard saying "the gas is turned off at the main". I have been in business myself for 43 years and have never had a bad review because starting my business from scratch I understood the concept of customer satisfaction or working with my customers if there was a problem. These people are overpriced and will not be there for you when they should have done things right in the first place. You can decide for yourself what to do but I encourage you to look elsewhere. I should have taken the bad reviews more seriously but unfortunately I had faith in a local family owned business. I do not usually put bad reviews but this company obvious to me does not care once they make their sale. To this day they have still not had the decency to contact me. !! Beware !! They will quote you for a furnace, but install a different less powerful model than quoted, and then charge you for the one on the original quote. On 1/10/2019 they emailed a quote for a 125,000 BTU Viessmann boiler Model WB-HA25 to replace my existing Weil McClain Gold 165,000BTU traditional boiler. I expressed concerns that it was undersized, but was assured verbally by Wally it was a more efficient modulating boiler and would be adequate. The boiler was installed in July 2019 and invoiced 7/30/2019 for $6935 plus tax, for a total of $7316.43 The system had a number of issues with installation initially, including reverse flow through the heating piping in the structure, but were addressed by fall of 2019. The actual problems began in winter 2019-2020 when my residents began complaining the heat was not keeping up on cold nights. Additional work was done to make sure air was bled out of the system, etc. Yet we still had trouble keeping up with calls for heat anytime domestic hot water was in use. The winter of 20/21 was even colder and resulted in additional complaints. We received an additional quote 0000028615 from Dahlquist Heating to add a 125k BTU IBC boiler for additional capacity, for an additional $6595, which we chose to not accept as that puts us over $14,000 to replace our original boiler functionality I recently worked with another contractor to get me a quote to replace the installed Viessman 125K with a single larger unit. During review of the system, the new contractor informed me we do not have a 125K boiler, we have a boiler with a max of 94,000 BTU input, which is significantly undersized for a 10 apartment unit building heating and domestic hot water. On careful review of the original invoice, it still shows a "Up to 125,000BTU" and "Model WB-HA25" on the invoice per the quote, but shows Viessmann B1HA94 Serial 7560853805090112 installed. This model boiler has a max input of 94,000BTU. This means Dahlquist Heating installed 24.5% less capacity than promised, on top of already being smaller than what was original, while still billing me for 125kBTU. read more

Called them for a price on a new blower for my furnace. They said they needed to come out to determine a price. They never told me how much it would cost. After spending 10 minutes to tell me the problem was the blower I was charged $174! Then I was quoted a charge of $722.98 to repair it! I went to a competitor who said that the part cost $268 and his total cost to repair it, part price included, is $368.00 I will never deal with Dahlquist again as they are a total ripoff! read more

Had to call for service on our Munchkin boiler when the temp outside was -30 below. The pump quit working so Dahlquist service replaced it and charged $407.00 for a new pump and $112.00 for service (45 min including 15 miles travel time). After he left our house, we kept the part and went online to check what the price of a new pump would be; $82.00. We feel like we have been raped again by this company. Every time they do anything it is a minimum of a $500.00 bill and friends we talk to have had the same experience. And your credit is no good! You must give the serviceman cash or check to take back with him. read more

I called on dahlquist cause my gas furnace stopped working,[ my dad had previously also used there services, thought this would be a good choice]. I got the diagnostic result from the service rep, and it was what I thought was the issue.[[thank you it was correct ]], however it cost me $94.00 for about a 1/2 hour of his time. seriously,$94.00 for a 1//2 hour. these places must think we are all making that kind of money!! the best part of this is they gave me a price of over $600.00 for the replacement gas valve.[also found out this is what was charged to my dad ]. I declined any further service and paid the fee. I went online and had one shipped from Maryland [overnight] for a total cost of[[[ $133.00]]] !!!.
