I've given this place 3 chances in the last two weeks because I love Dairy Queen and it's been nothing but a disappointment. My food has been wrong not once but twice. The customer service was not great the second time and today I understand as they were packed. This location is extremely hostile. I would like to find out the contact information of the actual owner. The manager Paula and her son, Paul, I believe a supervisor at the same location, are extremely unprofessional and disgusting individuals. If you want great service from a DQ, go to the other location in LaCrosse. Or go across the street to Culver's. If I could give zero stars I would. The female manager/owner was very rude and condescending. I waited in the drive-thru line for 25 minutes so I could pick up an ice cream cake. As I sat in the drive through line I attempted to call the restaurant multiple times to make sure they had cakes available but they didn't answer. When I did get to the drive through and attempted to order a cake I was told that cakes had to be purchased inside. I asked if they could please make an exception because I did attempt to call many times and I had sat in line for nearly a 1/2 hour. Also, I had no way to know that their lobby was open given Covid restrictions. The lady basically told me it was my problem and wouldn't make an exception. She was very short and snippy. I've never been treated so poorly at a place of business. I will take my concerns to corporate. I'm not sure it will do any good because I now see this DQ location has a very poor Yelp rating and many negative reviews. This franchise location reflects poorly on the DQ franchise. I ordered a cake online for my daughters birthday, only to find out the day of the party my order had been canceled. When I originally placed the order, I had called the store to have it picked up at an earlier time this listed online. A nice, young man confirmed that this was possible and to note it on my online order in the notes section. However, I received a call back the next day from the manager, who was rude, spoke poorly of her employee, and said it couldn't be done. She said if I wanted to cancel my order I could reorder it for a day earlier and note online that I want my other order cancelled. I decided against doing that and instead arranged to have someone else pick up the cake. When they went to pickup the cake, they were told my order had been cancelled. I never received an email or phone call indicating this. And when I called to put down an alternate pickup person for the cake two days before the party, I was told nothing. Super disappointing. When I called the store to speak to the manager, she refused to talk to me, and I could hear her tell the employee on the phone, 'nope I've already talked to her' (referring to the other day'. I find that really dangerous giving that we're in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC and preparing food this way could potentially spread germs and make this worse than this already is. I am new to the area and Yelp. If I would have read the reviews I may have saved myself some grief. We drove 25 minutes with three kids excited for ice cream and burgers. At the drive through I asked a question about their kids menu. Instead of answering my questions about the menu the male employee told me "it is very easy to read, read it." I attempted one more time to ask the question differently in case he didn't understand and he got mad. He did not answer my question. When I said can you please just answer my question he said you don't have to get snarky with me. He then proceeded to tell me if I didn't like it I could leave. I asked to speak with a manager and he told me I would have to wait in line. We really wanted ice cream and burgers so I waited hoping the manager could answer my questions and take care of our order. When I got up to the window there was an older women who was worked up before I even said anything. She told me she heard everything that was said in the drive through and she agreed that the board was self explanatory. If I couldn't read it, I could leave. She didn't even try to answer my question or take our order. Wow!!!...So we did what they recommended and left. Burger King was more than happy to answer our questions, had exceptional customer service and great burgers & fries. We went to Cold Stone Creamery for ice cream instead which was fantastic. Do not waste your time at this location in Onalaska. I can not believe what just happened at this Dairy Queen. I fixed the problem for my family though. Stopped by this location on 3/19/21 at 7:45 p.m., and out of the three workers up front, there was only one wearing a mask. In fact, the only one wearing a mask was the cashier. The actual people making and handling our food were not. I have never been one to write complaints, but this is so incredibly unprofessional and unsafe. Coming from someone who works in fast food currently, masks are strictly enforced in my store. It's not difficult. I paid, but the food essentially went to waste because I refuse to eat something that was unsafely handled. I will never come back, and I'd advise everyone else to do the same. read more

A husband and wife own this place and she is the manager everyone is talking about. The first time I stopped in, I got a chicken tender meal. It didn't seem very good to me and later I was sick to my stomach. I didn't see her working that day. I went a few weeks later for some ice cream and the female owner came to the register, and I greeted her nicely. She asked what I wanted. I ordered and made a little small talk. She just said something like, is that everything. She did not once look up into my eyes. I've seen this woman and her husband often out in public and I know she had to have recognized me. I felt incredibly insulted. When I told my husband, he was shocked. I told him I am never stepping into that place again. I'm sure I'm not alone in the way she treated me. How can someone in a business like that be so rude? There is a facebook thread circulating about her and how bad she treats her employees. This is not your typical DQ, and that is NOT meant to be a compliment. The manager (or owner/tyrant) is a nasty woman. I have been there on more than one occasion where she has been pitching a fit about one thing or another. I had called on the phone once to see if the smoothie machine was working and she snapped at me that of course it was. I replied that it hadn't been for over a week and she told me I was mistaken...I wasn't. Management is rude. I ordered a blizzard and while I waited, 12 cars went through the drive through before I got my blizzard 20 minutes later. They serve about 10-12 people in the drive through to one person standing in line. The guy that made my blizzard licked his fingers while my blizzard was in his hand because he dripped ice cream on his finger!! So gross!!! They don't participate in the flipping the blizzard upside down! What is that all about. They nickel and dime you for everything. My husband ordered a burger once and wanted bbq sauce, so they charged him 50 cents for it. They charge for a teeny tiny glass of water through the drive through. My blizzard is never mixed. Manager and staff need an attitude adjustment. I experienced the worst excuse of customer service at the Onalaska store. The man (caucasian dark hair)who took my order and the manager(very short blonde almost white hair) were both deplorable. I waited 30 minutes during this entire interaction, and fyi I left hungry. I had requested a #4 with cheese curds. He repeated back "a #4? Okay" I thought since he repeated back not just "4" but "A N.U.M.B.E.R. 4" that we were on the same page. I'll be honest and say that I didn't hear his final repeat of the order. He said it fast and i didn't listen. If I would have caught it then, I could have avoided all of this. Left the parking lot, and reached for my burger... got a 4 piece chicken tender. Okay, mistakes happen.(unrelavent, but seriously almost $15 for a chicken tenders lunch and a snack wrap Wtf) I still had 15 minutes to get back to work, so I went back around one more time. The attitude started when I told them that I had just been there and was returning to get the correct food. I got the you're inconveniencing me mame 'tude. And I had 10 minutes to Stew on it before I got to the window again. And the burger still wasn't ready. At the end he asked me to pull over to wait for the burger I had originally requested. At that point I was done with their snarky attitude, (also losing the battle with my own temper) so I DECLINED to pull away from the window. I was going to be late returning to work as it was, and I wasn't going to wait another 7 minutes for somebody to bring the sandwich out to me. The manager finally came to the window, and told me to pull over OR she would just issue me a refund because she claimed waiting behind me. Started as a threat not as a solution. No apology... I explain to her what my issue was . She stated something to the effect of either I didn't communicate clearly or he just misunderstood what I said... wrong food ordered... Okay... long wait time ... okay... complete lack of empathy or taking ownership. Complete disrespect of my time. DUECES! Now, Dairy Queen as a company can choose to ignore this. Maybe they don't care about reviews. But this store has 3.9 stars on Google, 72 are three stars or less. 12 out of 21 one star reviews are from the last 6 months. The majority of the one-star reviews are about the manager. Don't go to this store and expect good customer service on any level. I like the food, and I was visiting at least once a week. I posted a review a couple days ago regarding the mean nasty person working at the Onalaska DQ. I read over all the reviews and it turns out they have gotten a lot of complaints regarding this person. I know it is the same person just by the account of how they were treated and the description of what she looked like. My question is, why is she still employed with you? I am just flabbergasted by that. Anyone who knows anything at all about customer service knows that you can serve sub par food, as long as the customer service is there. The food was good, but I left there feeling not good. I will not spend my money there again, until that sad excuse for a customer service manager is removed. The funny thing about this, I was telling a co-worker about my experience and she knew exactly who I was talking about, having experienced the same type of "customer service" with that rude woman.
