I'm visiting from the NYC area and didn't realize this was a gas starting chicken joint. Listen I'm not complaining about nothing regarding the quality of the food I had delivered. If fact I'm be honest that catfish really didn't disappoint in any kind of manner. And those little big azz tater tot with bacon and cheese inside...a yooo GENIUS!!! Service, Speed & Friendliness = 9.5 Value = 8.5 (good portion, great value) Chicken = 6.2 (Not that crispy, regular chicken was on the bland side, skin was a little mushy/floury. Gas Station eateries hide some janky gems. If you're out of town, on the road, etc., and looking for a cheap dinner with a high novelty factor, you need this. The idea of stepping into a gas station, waiting to order fresh fried chicken while my friends were behind me buying peanuts and filling up fountain sodas while my car was filling outside was so surreal and so comical to me, I couldn't help but giggle the whole time I was inside. Service was swift and kind, prices were low, chicken was moist, and the "logs" (battered, fried potato wedges) just added to the novelty of it. Prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and prompt, and you can grab your smokes, Diet Mountain Dew, and chicken in one swoop. Plan on waiting a couple of minutes for your chicken, as they tend to cook almost to order with brisk business around the 5:00 drive. Make sure to grab those potato logs while there. I've been going here since it was Jr. Food Mart back in the late 80's. Best creole fried chicken in town. Great price and if you like chicken tenders they do spicy chicken tenders (order ahead) that are amazing. Great portions for the price as well. read more
