I couldn't make up my mind so I drove north and came across this unassuming place. The facade is very nondescript but once you get inside the place warms considerably. I was pleased with the quick greeting and friendly server. Additionally, the selection of meat and veggies was impressive. I give four stars because the sauces are very watered down. This was our first time at Big Bang and we were so excited because of the great reviews on Yelp. We walked in knowing nothing about the process and our server seated us, took our drink order, and walked away. We stated "we have no idea how this works. We've never been here." She said that we could do the buffet or on the menu they had poke bowls and ramen. We asked to see a menu. Looking at the menu wasn't helpful, as we were still unsure of the process. We ordered a spicy salmon bowl and the buffet. The buffet was self explanatory to an extent, but when I walked up to the grill, there was absolutely no instruction and the male cooking the food said absolutely nothing. I stood at the counter with my food for a minute, then left it and went back to the table. When it was finished, nothing was said. I found the food on the counter when I looked up from conversation at one point. I'm not sure how long it had been sitting there. Our server checked on us once. I had to ask for chopsticks. We never needed a refill though (in her defense). The atmosphere was very strange. It wasn't dirty necessarily. People were just not friendly. The salmon in the buffet looked sickly (not pink) and the tray was full of water. I did not visit the restroom. The spicy salmon bowl was so full of onions that it was all you tasted. The salmon was also fishy (not a great sign when eating raw fish). The buffet bowl was okay, but nothing great about it. I am so disappointed, as we were so excited to try Big Bang! My husband was so excited to try this spot. He loves Mongolian food. I had never been to anything like this so I was eager to see what it was all about. When walking in the staff was very friendly and sat us at a booth. They take your drink order and then you can head up to the buffer bar. You grab a bowl and then work your way through all the options. It starts with the different types of noodles you can choose, then veggies, and then meat you can add to your bowl. They had tons of options of everything. The next section is the sauces. You grab another small bowl and fill it up with whatever you would like. Once you decide you take both of your bowls and place them on the waiting area for a griller to get it. You can watch as they grill it all in front of you. It's really cool! The prices weren't bad at all. You can get a bowl for $8.99 or do all you can eat for $10.99. Honestly the $10.99 makes the most sense since it's only two more dollars and you can just keep going back up. The food and the service was great! Came here for dinner with my wife and left happy and full of great food! Nice atmosphere and feel to the restaurant, a few TVs and plenty of seating. This is one of the restaurants where you load up raw ingredients and then have someone cook it on a massive grill in front of you. The food selection is pretty good, with lots of noodles, veggies, and meat options. To make one plate is about 10 dollars per person on the weekends but for an extra 2 dollars per person you can load up as many plates of food as you want. The food is really good and cooks quickly, I could stay here all day eating. If you're looking for Asian food I'd definitely try Big Bang, I haven't had such a good experience in quite some time! read more

In this day and age, people are trying to save money anyway that they can, and the last time I went there, it cost $43 for three people to eat, and we all drank water. That's just too much $$. This is definitely my most favorite restaurant in the Evansville area. I could eat Mongolian BBQ every day. You can make your bowl a million different ways, so you can always switch it up. My bowl usually consists of lots of veggies, lots of seafood, and a little bit of other meats. I love the variety of different sauces and dry seasonings. The owner is there sometimes and always ensures everyone is nothing short of satisfied. If you're not satisfied, he'll try to make you happy before you leave. Food is ok. but what really makes me not want to go back is the fact that the guys in the back that are grilling, pretty much are a bunch of little a-holes. They pretty much dont care whether they keep your food on the grill while cooking it making you lose a good portion of your meat that either fly off or go to another pile. When you try to communicate with them, no response, look you in the eye and ignore you. Multiple times this has happened going here, complained to managers and still happening. Would never happened if Charlie was there. On top of that, they gave us to-go boxes not even 10 minutes of us getting our food on table. Bad service all around and not getting better. read more

OK like others have mentioned the food is very good, the selection is varied and there tons of veggies and meats to choose from. The sauce bar is interesting only from a stand point that you put them( the sauces) in a small cup and not with your food like most grills do. Service is very good, but here is my big bitch. Every grill I have ever eaten at provides either white or brown rice and you get the sesame bread with the meal. That is just standard practice. Here they charge $1.00 for a bowl of rice, are you F'n kidding me? you buy rice in 50 or 100 pound sacks for maybe 25.00 wholesale and your going to charge me a dollar for a bowl. Not only that we came on a Sunday and they were charging full pop for a meal. You cannot go back for seconds like most grills allow. Don't get me wrong it's a great place to eat but the dollar extra that they were going to charge me for rice turned me off so bad I will never go back. The cost of a plate food which is mostly veggies and a small amount of meat is about 3.00 dollars or less, maybe another 2.00 dollars for over head. To add rice would only pennies to cost of a meal and I doubt anyone in KY has found a grill that serves sesame bread. If you have send me a note. Big Bang Mongolian is the sister location of Charlie's Mongolian BBQ over on the north side of town which has long been one of my favorite restaurants in the Evansville area. When you walk in you can pay for one bowl which you are allowed to fill up with as much much food as you can fit into it. They have a ride variety of vegetables, meats, and seafood as well as rice noodles and lo mein noodles. After you select all your food you can get a sauce cup and choose from a very nice selection of sauces as well as how hot you want your food to be. You take it to the grill and the cook grills in right in front of you. You can then take it out right from there or eat inside where they will provide you with some rice and tortillas if you wish. You can also get all you can eat for a bit more but if you do it right then you really won't need it and will more then likely be taking leftovers home. The food quality is the same as Charlie's, which is fantastic. I do however enjoy Charlie's for a few reasons. I feel the plates at Charlie's are a lot easier to work with when it comes to building your meal then the bowls at Big Bang. It seems as if the hot chili paste is nowhere near as hot as it was at Charlie's. This may be a thing for both locations now, not sure as it has been a few months since I have been to Charlie's. I have also noticed that the cooks tend to let quite a bit of food fall off the grill while making it. If I had to recommend one or the other I would go with Charlie's but if you are on this side of town and want a fantastic, flavourful meal that you can build youself then this place is a must. read more

He had to be nodded by another co worker because he had ear buds in. I asked twice that they be cooked like that. He didn't cook them long enough. The selection is vast and it does not matter if you are a meat eater or vegetarian - there is something here for you. The first time I had rice, pork, corn, egg, topped with teriaki sauce. The last time I tried noodles, chicken, tofu, egg, pineapple, basil, topped with lemon and ginger sauce. There are a lot of veggies to add if you want.
