The person I was visiting was staying on the ground level. Apparently the dining area is on the upper level and she sometimes avoids making the short trek upstairs and has food sent to her room instead. The heating unit in the bedroom cranks up like crazy, so I hear most residents usually have it off and set the thermostat in the living room instead.

This is not assisted living, but the facility provides meals, bed linen service and light housekeeping in the apartments. The family contracts with another agency to provide her assistance with medicines and personal care, so the living situation is working. The facility has a library, community room, grand piano, sitting areas, and a small bus used to provide transportation. There are activities available and a couple of churches provide opportunities for worship and bible study. There is also a hairdresser on-site a few days each week. The county senior citizen center is within walking distance, with even more activities. Residents can be as involved as they choose.

The Belmont provides many activities there for them and the staff also takes the residents out to other places for meals and for fun. My Mother is in the choral group, the Saturday night movie group, the Bingo group, the Sunday afternoon excursion group and several more. And they all say that she never misses Happy Hour! When my Mother reached her 90's, my husband and I visited every place in town, we felt that the Belmont would be the place my Mother would like the best. It was sunny, clean, well-designed, pet friendly, and welcoming. We are so glad when she often tells us how happy she is living there.

It's always a little anxiety producing to find residential care for a family member, but I could not be happier. The main thing is that they really care and treat residents with respect and dignity.

After she passed they let us come get her belongings but "Accidentally" they with drew another payment from her account that same week.We asked for it back to help with funeral costs an they gave us the run around. To this day we have not received the $2300 they stole from our deceased memaw. We are now looking in to getting an attorney if we can find one we can afford.

While the areas of HighGrove that cater to independent And healthy elder living may be fine, the…read morememory care unit is woefully lacking in resident care, staff training and consistency, ad basic medical awareness. The care of residents is suspect ad the cleanliness consistency is extremely lacking. residents are tolerated but not cared for in the memory care unit and the quality of care is horrible - doors were left unlocked and human feces found in a room not belonging to the person who made the "deposit" . An LPN is the medical "expert" for this facility - not an RN, NP or MD - and that individual is on duty M-F -8- 5. The caregivers are in constant rotation which indicates a problem with staff retention and there is obviously no set, consistent training and indoctrination program for those individuals. we have even noted some caregiver staff stepping off into blind areas of security camera coverage and staying there to chat while residents are in distress. Extremely distressing.
