Hmmm?! It was only when I was heading for a wee bite to eat I saw this lovely looking shop. It was like a ray of light hit me, and I knew as soon as I walked in I would be able to find "something special". The lady was absolutely lovely and a great help. I explained what it was for and she came up with a candle beautifully wrapped with a personalised tag with my friend's name and saying happy 50th. It was perfect! The shop was beautifully laid out with lots of varied gifts for all occasions you can think of. Upstairs I found out was a wee coffee shop, but it was shut the time I got there, it's only opened for a while from 9.30am - 4.30pm. The lady told me they have lots of homemade goodies and their coffee is sourced from Matthew Algie. I will definitely need to stop by for their coffee shop next time. My friend was absolutely delighted with her present, so much so, she asked me where I had got it as she wanted to get something similar for her friend's birthday. Result! I cannot wait to go back, guess who's gonna be trying out a mocha?!

Nicely laid out inside and lots of quirky things everywhere you looked. A little pricey but good quality stuff. I took the chance to grab a bargain looking through all their birthday cards that were reduced in price. I always have a couple of spare cards in the house and tend to stock up on them when I get a chance like this. 10 cards bought that were £2.50- £3.25 each now half price. Nice shop, will need to keep it in mind for little birthday gifts.

When in search of a gift in Edinburgh before heading home, the oh-so-cute Pippin sign caught my eye. I headed over to the sweetest of shops with the sweetest of stock. Although there are some baby clothes in the window display and more inside, this is a relatively small part of the store and its offerings. There are plenty of lovely candles, brooches and cards to browse from a variety of different designers. Just the sort of things you'd find on etsy, which is totally up my alley. The gift was for a candle-loving friend headed to Aus so I decided that, naturally, a nice candle would be just perfect. - They had quite the selection! One range slightly cheaper and the other a little more expensive as to suit all budgets which is great. I sniffed and I sniffed till I found just the one. Would I like it gift-wrapped? 'Oh, yes, please!' So my gift looked suitably pretty in its blue wrapping paper. And at no extra cost. What a nice touch! What could make me fall even more in love with Pippin? They also offer a fantastic bespoke framing service. A few years ago I was looking for a very specific size and design of mirror. I asked for help on Twitter and Curiouser and Curiouser saw this and replied offering their services. I went into the shop, they made a framed mirror exactly as I wanted and of fantastic quality. If you are ever around Broughton Street area then I definitely recommend you popping in here. And maybe go to Treacle for some food after :)

Why am I only just discovering this little gem today?!…read more A stop off in Edinburgh is always great fun, and a wander along Broughton St is always great. Today the highlight of the wander was coming across this place. Filled with lots of cute and wonderful things - from books on how to knit zoo animals, greetings cards, ceramics and prints and artwork with price tags that won't break the bank. It appears to be a small family business and the staff are pretty relaxed and more than happy to chat; but the dog didn't seem all that interested in what was going on. I bought some prints for my living room, a book on print-making and a ceramic bowl for my coffee table. I could easily have purchased most of this shop. So if you're in search of a special card or gift, I can't recumbent this place any higher!

Clothes, trinkets, gemstones and gifts fill the small store, and the staff are absolutely lovely and friendly. I can't imagine that they get many visitors, so they treat every customer like a friend, or it seemed that way to me anyway! this shop has actually moved to the high street, falkirk. it is in the old co-op building opposite…read morethe entrance to the callander square shopping centre. they have a sale on at the moment and i was in looking for a new duvet set, they had a huge selection of some weird and wonderful colours, so they would have something to suit everyone. they were at a great price too. when paying for the item, there was only 1 girl serving, but she really was lovely, she appologised for the wait. i also asked if i could leave my purchases with her as i still had some shopping to do and that was fine, so all in all, it was a good experience. they have all sorts of other home wares on sale too.
