Grand Theatres - Grand Theatres Bismarck ND Grand Internative Dark Ride 3-D Number 1

This theater deserves more than a 3.7 in my opinion. We go to a lot of movies and always have a…read moregreat experience. Staff is nice, they have awesome concessions selection, popcorn is always perfect, roller dogs(!!!) :D, ice cream, nachos, etc. Each theater has its own vibe and feel. After going to many AMC's around the country, I don't know if people fully appreciate how awesome it is to have a locally owned theater of this size and quality. Keep doing your thing Grand!

Who would have thought I would find the best movie theater I've ever been to in Bismarck, ND?…read more This theater does everything right. First of all it is up to date with all the nice amenities, like comfortable seats, great sound, huge screen and it's clean. It was so nice to go to a theater that actually adds to the excitement of going to a movie. This place is huge (22 screens) so it takes a bit of maneuvering to get to your theater, but the Grand has the hallways filled with movie memorabilia, upcoming movie posters and all within the Egyptian theme. There are statues and displays all around the place. I was impressed. The only (minor) drawback to the theater would be the entrance is on the backside, and although there is plenty of parking, very little is close to the entrance. And because if the size, you might want to leave a popcorn trail as you go in, so you can find your way out! Good job Grand Theaters!

Laughing Sun -- I guess the joke's on me…read more Went to celebrate Father's Day 2025 at Laughing Sun for some BBQ and a beer. I've been looking for good BBQ in Bismarck, and Laughing Sun has been recommended to me quite a bit. The place itself is really cool -- I love the big, open blues venue atmosphere. Axe throwing is a fun touch, and I appreciate that it's sectioned off so it doesn't distract if you're not into it. The line to order moved quickly, and ordering was smooth with friendly service. I got the 3-meat BBQ plate with brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. For sides, I chose mac and cheese, beans, and kettle chips. My wife ordered a half order of the BBQ nachos and a root beer. I had the Space Probe Blue, a sour -- which I really enjoyed. The ribs were great: served slightly above room temp, tender, and well-seasoned. I'm not a fan of competition-style ribs where you're expected to leave a bite mark, and thankfully these were more tender than that. Not quite "fall-off-the-bone," but a really nice middle ground. The pulled pork was solid -- moist, well-seasoned, and with noticeable smoke flavor. The brisket looked promising with a nice bark and smoke ring. But that's where the positives ended. It was the driest brisket I've ever had -- barely edible. Truly terrible. It looked old, and I'd be shocked if it hadn't been sliced the day before. I was genuinely disappointed. Brisket and burnt ends are my jam, and I just couldn't vibe with it. The "award-winning" mac and cheese was served at room temp and was mid at best. The beans were also served room temp and are supposed to include brisket -- fortunately, mine did not. I'd give the beans a 5/10. The kettle chips, though, were excellent -- crispy, well-seasoned, and easily the best side of the bunch. The BBQ nachos didn't go over well with my wife. Her main issues: the pulled pork was wet and spongy, the pico de gallo was overly watery and made everything soggy, and the use of melted cheese instead of nacho cheese didn't work. In summary: If you're after a great local beer and a fun atmosphere, this could be your spot. But if you're looking for killer BBQ executed with care, maybe do what I'm going to do -- and keep looking.

The cashier was helpful answering any questions. Make sure to bring cash or a debit card. There is an ATM inside. There is complimentary coffee and machines that sells snacks and drinks. Bingo is played using paper and dabbers or you can also simultaneously have an iPad play electronically for more chances to win. Cash is paid upon winning. The moment we walked in, we were met with uncomfortable stares from the staff. I even commented to my daughter that I didn't feel like we were welcome because of the looks we were getting. We approached the first employee and politely asked whether my niece was allowed in the building. Her response was a dismissive grunt followed by, "I don't know, you'll have to ask the manager." She then pointed to employees standing only a couple of feet away. Before we could even speak further, one of those employees barked at us that guests had to be 16 years old. I responded, "Oh, we saw online that it was kid-friendly. Sorry." Instead of simply clarifying the policy, she rolled her eyes and snapped back, "Sixteen is a kid." There was no welcome, no courtesy, and no attempt to help us understand their rules. We were treated as though we were inconveniencing them simply by asking a question. Whether our niece met the age requirement or not, there is no excuse for treating potential customers with such disrespect. We left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this business to families or anyone expecting basic customer service and professionalism
