For a $22 steak and over $70 for our family, one would expect a great meal. Ours was not. After waiting for 45 minutes to an hour, I finally got my rare steak which came out cold. All of our food was cold. We went against our better judgement and ordered cake for one in our party. It tasted as though it had been sitting out for a week (stale). The drink my fiance's son ordered had something that looked akin mashed potatoes in it. To make matters worse, the restaurant was virtually empty. It should not have taken nearly that long for our food. I have never written a review of a restaurant, but I could not resist as this was the worst restaurant experience I have had in my life. My servers was very nice, but slower than average. My jalapeño appetizer and steak were both prepared properly and tasted good. The side salad however smelled like the bag it came out of. The ranch dressing couldn't even cover the smell. The steamed broccoli I was served came out soggy, cold, and had brown spots... I would probably eat here again, but not order anything green. Apparently people don't eat the "healthy" options on the menu, so they sit around a little longer than they should maybe. read more

I was glad not to be at a fast food restaurant but for the money I was expecting more; it might have been that it was Monday night but there just was not much there. I had ribeye, side salad and baked potato - all fine. I think next time I will go to Pizza Hut and save the $20 difference. Three stars for the staff which was helpful. read more

I had great service. They make awesome margarita's. I ordered 2 appetizers as my meal. The cheese sticks were OK. The recommended the firebirds. I enjoyed them more then the cheese sticks. No complaints! read more

By far the worst experience I've had. Service was slow and food was cold. Waited 30 min for menus and drinks. The bar seems to be the only focus of attention here. Poorly trained or unmotivated staff. No wonder Hereford doesn't have any good food establishments. read more

Showed up at 5:45 on a Saturday night and sat in the bar area. There were 2 other tables in there at the time (pretty empty) for a 9 table bar area. No one came by for about 15 minutes. We patiently waited and about 20 minutes after we arrived, we were asked for our drink order and since we have been here 20 minutes we knew what we wanted and placed an appetizer and a food order. Three other tables sat down after us. The first table was a table of two 10 minutes after we got there, the second table was a group of 4 and the 3rd table had a group of 6 that showed up about 20 minutes after we arrived. All got drinks and food 15 minutes before we even got our salads. All 3 tables ate their food, paid out and left before we got our entree. The servers were hustling, I will give them credit for that. Food was lacking for a $28 steak. Apparently management is lacking here and I don't recommend it for anyone. You can find better service in the the worst places in Texas. Not recommended. read more

This place is awful. Waited over an hour and didn't even get my full entree. Ordered the shrimp plate and they brought 4 of the 8 shrimp and promised to bring the other 4 and never did. If I could give this place a negative star, I would. No one acknowledged us when we walked in, introduced themselves, or wore a name tag. A guy walked out from the back and pointed to a room and said "they have ya'll seated back there" pointed in the opposite direction of where he was walking. I guess we were to seat ourselves? When we get to our table the server walked up to the table, didn't introduce herself and opened with "what are you drinking". No customer service whatsoever!! Then when I asked for a cocktail menu I was told "there isn't one, we have a bar and it has everything". So I ordered a typical cocktail and was asked if I was a member. Apparently you have to be a member to order any alcoholic beverage. I guess if you're traveling you can't unwind with a cocktail here. By the way, this location is right in front of our hotel! We placed our order which came with a salad. I ordered my salad without tomatoes. I was told "it comes in a big bowl and you can just take out whatever you don't want". It took an hour before we FINALLY received our order. Then the food was cold, missing items and received incorrect items. The level of unprofessionalism is out of control!! The staff continued to argue amongst each other while handing us our food (right in front of us!). Staff kept coming in and out from what I'm guessing is their break area - which we were seated right next to the door. They were smoking, arguing and it was very disruptive to our meal. Our server was clearly irritated by a coworker and kept murmuring sarcastic things like "geniuses" and told a fellow coworker "tell that minion to get me my mushrooms". Are you kidding me? This was the most awkward and unprofessional restaurant experience I have ever had!! Clearly POOR management, LACK of Customer Service and ZERO professionalism. We NEVER got an apology for the food taking an hour to serve, Cold items, missing items or incorrect items...We almost walked out, the only reason we stayed was because we were starving and it was late. The only positive comment is my meat was tasty, but I would NEVER recommend to anyone and will NOT be going back!! read more

I am not from around here but stopped in with a colleague for lunch. Service was awesome, and the food was just as good. I had the Dakota chicken burger and it was delicious. The waitress continued to come by our table to refill our drinks and let us know our food was on its way. I will definitely be back if I'm passing through. read more

I enjoyed both the food and service. Despite the negative reviews I ate here. Our group of 5 were promptly seated and our drink order taken. Our waitress quickly returned and inquired about appetizers and took the meal order. We received the onion strings with fried jalapeños & potato skins. Both were very good. The onion strings were crunchy and the potato skins had the extra flavor of green chilies. I had the Filet minion which was cooked medium rare just as I had ordered. It was well seasoned. Our waitress was kind and efficient. She was not however overtly friendly. I think that may account for some of the negative reviews. Please eat here! read more

The prices are outrageous!! The service is slow. The food is average, so it does not warrant the high prices of the food. Do yourself a favor and keep traveling, you will find better restaurants in Clovis or Amarillo. read more

My wife and I decided that it would be a good time to try out Dakotas. We hadn't been in quite a while due to a busy schedule this summer. When we arrived we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Our waitress ask for our drink order.and gave us the menu.which we noticed was new. There were some great selections and wonderful specials.My wife selected the chicken fried chicken, and I had the 8oz sirloin and 4oz salmon. They were both wonderful. With great food and great service this was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend Dakota's for wonderful dinning. Hereford is our home and we always try and support home town business.
