I called in BMW while looking at cars in the area, knowing I wouldn't be able to afford one, but…read morejust hoping to look around, and for them to say "Hey Aaron. you seem like a nice guy, this car should be 55,000, take it, on me!", and that would have been perfect compensation for getting stuck in the lift.
This car dealership is huge, and has 3 separate parts, an outside part and a huge 2 floor indoor arena for BMW, with second hand on the top floor, and then Mini also on the complex.
They is also quite a nice "cafe" sort of thing where refreshments and the days newspapers can be read, which is quite a nice atmosphere, and of course as you are in a dealership, and have to put up with salesman, this isn't somewhere you can come every day (Unless you have a ton of disguises) but for a free coffee, it would be worth it!
They seem to be a lot of staff here, and they do seem to be nice, even though they probably knew I was looking with no intent to buy, they didn't seem to mind that, and they didn't want to waste their time trying to offer me suitable cars, which was a shame as I could have considered buying a car, having seem one I like, in my price-range (they was very few!)
Most of the staff here did seem nice, they even found me a very nice BMW pen, which is probably one of the best free pens I have been given from a company, which when you consider they stock most of the daily broadsheet newspapers, and the Mail, and a good selection of cold and hot drinks, it is definitely a place to call in as a "rest" while looking at dealerships.
This dealership is quite nice and modern, hence I was surprised with an incident with the lift. It is a typical mobility lift, where you have to hold the buttons to call it and then to go up and down, so it is old fashioned, unlike most of the cars here, they can make 2009 car pass for a 2015 Fiat for example!
After successfully going up, I then tried to go back down, without letting the staff know, as they wasn't really many people about, with it being quiet on the second floor, and the lift was already there and I felt confident in using it, however, once I got in the lift, and the door shut, I was stuck. When I tried to press the button down, it wouldn't move, and the door wouldn't open either, I tried to dial the alarm which signalled an alarm across the store, but I felt stuck as I didn't want to hold it down for too long, luckily my friend got a member of staff, who managed to fix it by calling it from the lower floor. They told me they have had problems with this lift before, so they should have checked it before putting it into action, and simply they need to hire a modern, working lift as this is unacceptable, especially for a company like BMW.
Even though I couldn't afford the majority of cars here, this is still a cool dealership to look around, with some cool freebies so is definitely worth checking out, but due to the place feeling slightly high-end, the location being quite awkward in the sense of it being off a roundabout and not on much of a public transport route and the lift issue in the first place, I feel BMW Rochdale deserves three stars!
