Dalia is good at cuts. She is very precise and I feel like my cuts are always even. She takes her time and makes sure your posture, shoulders and head position are perfect before each snip. I've apologized many times for accidentally slouching my shoulders, etc. I wouldn't call it relaxing experience but I've always cared more about an even cut. Sometimes my bangs have been too chunky and other times it doesn't lay right but it's always even. The coloring is inconsistent though. Sometimes it looks okay and other times not so much. I am so unhappy with my recent balayage. It is very brassy (aside from an almost white front) and I absolutely hate these tones in my hair. They look awful with my skin tone. I wanted to cry when I left because I came in with an almost blank canvas of virgin hair, any hairstylist's dream that I had grown out to have this look done. Since, I've tried to use different toners at home but at this point I figure I just have to grow it out, or pay someone for a color correction since it's such a solid brassy tone throughout my whole head. This isn't going to be a very nice grow out either because it contrasts so heavily with my natural color, which is an ashy dark blonde. I wanted a low maintenance, natural look and this is anything but. I would just expect more after 4+ hours and $350. read more

For the first time since I got short hair (it's been about 3 years), I decided to get it colored by a professional. For a while, I'd been experimenting and doing whatever, because heck - who cares if I mess it up, I'm gonna cut it off anyway! But seriously, I'm so glad that I finally decided to invest in ombre/dip-dye/highlights or whatever you may call it, and I'm especially thankful that yelp led me to Dalia at V.B.B. So first things first, she texted me as soon as I scheduled the appointment and asked me to send an inspiration pic, which already made me feel like 'ok, she's not just a professional but she is really Doing Her Homework.' When I saw Dalia, and seriously she's just the friendliest, most easy going person to talk to. If anyone ever has anxiety about going somewhere and having awkward silences, then fear not, you will be chatting away in no time. So returning to that photo I sent in earlier, Dalia brought it up ofc, but she also gave her own opinions about how to make that look work for my hair. Which is exactly what I wanted, because i didn't want an exact 'copy' of the photo. So after making sure we were on the same page (which I felt like we were from the start), she got to working her magic. And this is the easiest part, since you guys already know I gave 5 stars, so I need not say more. Dalia is amazing! She has quite the gift for blondes. I had been seeing my stylist for sixteen years prior to her moving away, which is pretty much my worst nightmare. I found myself in Dalia's chair on Saturday. She did her research and was able to match my color to the Redken line. She asked countless questions about my previous experience and what it was I was hoping to obtain, style and color-wise. Having naturally curly hair herself, Dalia is very sensitive to the needs of curls - how to cut, how to style hair like that. I will be in her chair every six weeks for the rest of my days! Her salon suite is beautiful - she offered me coffee, water, wine or the cutest little beer cans you have ever seen! She is as friendly as she is skilled. I have never written a review on anybody/service before. I feel so strongly about this stylist and I have taken the time to think about this review for a month. So with that said: The most painful hair experience of my life! Dalia was rude from the moment she and I walked into her studio. When I told her that I had a Groupon, she acted put out and bothered. Her attitude was unwelcoming and anti-social. During the hair cut, she poked me in the eye with her finger. Although she did apologize, her abuse didn't stop. I have had long hair my whole adult life and I'm not tender headed. She pulled on my hair with every foil she placed. When my hair was done processing, she yanked the foils out of my hair with no regard to my comfort. During the shampoo, she bounced my neck/head 3 times against the shampoo bowl. My scalp was red and tender for a week after my highlight. In the end, I do like my color however, the overall experience was dreadful. She never offered me a glass of water or a magazine. After a few miserable attempts at conversation I gave up and sat in silence. Perhaps she is better suited for a career that does not require customer service. read more
