That's how the can make a profit and support the event (makes sense). Drinks are about $6 per cup. This is my first "Jazz in the Park" and I'll definitely come better prepared next time. Besides my chair, I'll bring a book (for the wait) and snacks! There weren't really many options this time. Happy "Jazz in the Park"! Fun fact: "Jazz in the Park" has its own mascot! Vivarium is a new live music venue on Milwaukee's lower East Side, and I saw the band Luna there in…read moreabout the third week of Vivarium's existence. Run by the Colectivo crowd, it looks just like the Back Room, high ceilings adorned with metal trusses, fake and real plants, and no soundproofing. Checking in with the app the employees were super nice! Really refreshing. If you follow live music in Milwaukee you've already heard about the talking crowds and bad sightlines from the Buffalo Nickels show and a co-worker said the same about the Charlie Paar show. We were there early so got a good spot closer to the stage, but even close up the stage could stand to be higher. Luna was sounding good but the guitarist was noting a ghost in his equipment, band members seemed to be wincing from sound issues. Something for the club to figure out. Went to watch from the back and the room sound is really good. Sightlines are horrible back there, as the stage needs to be higher. The crowd was so talkative during the whole show, my friend noted people are disengaged from the bad sightlines, so that makes sense. Stand in front of the truss with the wifi device for a better engaged crowd, good sound and better sight lines. Bar offerings are good, bathrooms are clean and stylish. A solid three stars (OK) with room for improvement.

The interior decor appears to have been moved directly over from the Back Room at Collectivo, with the same ceiling treatment and plants - both real and faux. The bar is also pretty much the same, with mixed drinks, wine, beers and non alcoholic options. Seating at this show was all folding chairs, but the staff brought out more when they saw the size of the crowd in attendance. Perhaps it was our average collective age. There are a few loveseats and high stools along the right side of the room. It is not a fantastic acoustic space, with it's abundance of hard surfaces and no soft finishes, but it is intimate and allows you to get right up by the musicians. The bathrooms, at least the women's, are large with plenty of stalls and flattering lighting. This is a good replacement for the Back Room - essentially a carbon copy - but you have some chance of parking successfully over here as the street is less busy. There are also plenty of restaurants around for pre-show eats.

Easy in to the park grounds, no drink lines and an amazing stage view! We were probably 3rd from last row, but the view was clear and did not feel too far away at all. Per usual, the bathroom line got a little long in between sets, but moved quickly and was not an issue. We had the perfect summer evening at the concert and had an amazing skyline view on our way out.

My very first thoughts weren't about how much money I was spending, but was about how much money I was saving on something that was going to be very exciting for me to learn. My dance instructor, Charmaine made sure my learning pace was set at my comfort and confidence level. Anne-Marie offered suggestions and tweaked my technique. Erin reviewed and monitored my knowledge of the dance routines on a weekly basis to make sure I was getting the best results of my dancing package. Dance routines that I've learned so far is the "Push Pull" ,"Rumba" and Triple Time Swing" better known as the East Coast Swing. More dancing lessons to follow........ I cannot begin to say how much I appreciate Erin, as well as her gifted/talented instructors, Anne-Marie and Charmaine, whom have changed my outlook on life, given me positive direction and personal fulfillment with dancing, that I still continue to enjoy to this day. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We attended the first group class as…read morecomplete beginners, with one of us already experiencing significant anxiety about learning to dance. Rather than creating an encouraging and supportive environment for beginners, the instructor repeatedly and unnecessarily reprimanded one of us for attempting to help her partner follow the steps. The corrections were delivered in a manner that felt unnecessarily harsh and embarrassing in a group setting. We fully understand that learning a new skill takes time and that instructors need to provide direction. However, there is a significant difference between constructive instruction and repeatedly scolding a student. When we expressed our discomfort, the situation was not handled in a manner that reflected the level of professionalism or customer care we would expect. We ultimately decided that this was not an environment in which we wanted to continue learning. While we understand the stated no-refund policy, we were also disappointed that our concerns were met primarily by a reference to the policy rather than any meaningful acknowledgment of our experience. Beginners should leave a class feeling encouraged to return--not embarrassed for trying.

My 10yr old daughter is a budding violist and we've been wanting to go downtown to see the Chicago Symphony but to be very honest, I'm just cheap. Tickets for three and parking and dinner would set us back a few hundred - what if this viola thing is just a phase? Tickets to the Milwaukee Symphony @ the Zelazo Center were $5 each. Already, you're thinking to yourself you're way ahead of the game now because you're going to enjoy some fine classical music in a beautiful concert hall for less than the price of an extra value meal. But then you see the parking situation - parking (within 20 yards of the building!) is $1/hour. The concert hall itself is is NICE and cozy - not as big as Orchestra Hall. On this night, the MSO packed them in. I believe it was a full house and the MSO did not disappoint - they rocked the house. Did I mention the parking is $1 an hour?! It hardly seems fair that $1 won't get you 10 minutes on a Chicago street. I actually plugged a $5 bill into the machine even though I only needed like 2 hours just because I felt like a big spender.

After 30 more minutes, an hour total, we asked about it they suggested maybe ordering something else. The music in this place was so loud it was not good for conversation. While the basketball game was on TV, the super loud club style music certainly did not lend itself to a sports bar feel. If you want a place to chill to loud music, come here. If you want to watch sports or get food i recommend going someplace else.
