Did you ever see the Facebook group "Dan Murphy's is the best thing that's ever happened to me"? While I can't quite relate to that as well as my 18 year old self could, I still get a child-like thrill when I enter the mecca of alcohol, that mother of all bottle shops. Quite simply, the amount and range of products that Dan's got is incredible. Awe-inspiring, if you're also a budding alcoholic. The only problem is that everyone seems to think so.. being that there are only two Dan Murphy's on the Northern Beaches, the Mona Vale store is always choccers. A wait in line is a given, and don't even think about popping in on your way to the doctor's on Friday afternoon. You will wait. Or perhaps, like me, you'll get waylaid by the amazing variety of things in pretty bottles available - every alcoholic beverage you've ever wanted is in Dan Murphy's. Having just returned from overseas, I'm happy to be able to get my Swedish ciders from somewhere back home! And at a bargain - notoriously expensive for alcohol, Australia's bottle shop tradition has been rocked by the introduction of Danny and his many, many mates. read more
