It turns out, as tends to be the case with most of these small breweries, that the beer, well, was pretty awesome. In fact, they have a number of different ones on offer as well. Even though it seems that most of the seating is outside, they also have a pretty nice upstairs area as well, and also a restaurant. This is certainly a place to check out.

It's their most popular and came highly recommended by the bar staff who said it 'just flies out the door'. Having said that, all of the beers are quite unique and tasty- got through 6 of the 9 beers on offer and wasn't disappointed at all. Each of their beers has a little description about its background/ where it came- some of which are quite interesting. If you get a chance, read up on the previous tenant- Really cool relaxed and easy going atmosphere, full of older people and has a welcoming feel- which is a nice change to the short skirts, meat heads and delinquents you get this time of night right next door at Mona pub. Also do take aways!! All the food looked great too. I tried the margarita pizza and the chips. Both awesome. In some magical turn of events the chips somehow tasted like those cheese and bacon balls when you eat them with the dip. Something I highly recommend.

Jim's is close to home and the cheapest bottle-o for miles…read more And Jim's is a very good grog shop. There is a huge range of wine, beer and spirits. Jim's is very very good value. Quite often cheaper than Dan Murphy and they are good guys, except that they sometimes make their Mum look after the shop. They stock stuff you can't get elsewhere like Petersons Chardonnay and Scarborough White Label. There is a good range of aged wine and a comprehensive beer fridge. It was one of the first places in Sydney to stock Little Creatures Pale Ale and thus I have been going back with an unhealthy regularity. Cynthia and Mark's reviews are spot on and I intend to keep supporting Jim's even if it kills me.

All it takes is one pirate sailing a trolley, with frigate-sinking quantites of rum, down an aisle to ruin it for everyone. C'mon now! We aren't pirates, you don't need every last vestige of rum in the store. Arrrrggghhhhh. Speaking of rums, I've been here times when there are literally only 2 or 3 varities of the stuff to choose from. Being a bit of a rum proselytiser this situation vexes me. With DM's buying power I want em all. Gunpowder, Kraken, Gosling Black Seal - and yes - Ron Zacapa, especially if you stock Ron Jeremy... The Dan's is in a great location, it's ground floor right next to the car park, and two doors down from Woolies, so you can do all your shopping without having to worry about the rest of the shops. What also helps is it is well staffed. Despite being super biz, the lines move quick. There might be 4 or 5 checkout staff zipping peeps through which is the big plus here.

I've been here many, many times since they opened about a year ago and am still managing to always try something new. The interior is very charming, feeling like you have popped in for tea with your really cool Nanna! The Wonderland inspired decor also adds to the whimsy of this place. If you book with enough time in advance (approx 48 hours from memory) and have at least 8 people in your group, you can even enjoy a fully catered high tea. I'm yet to experience this, but some friends have thoroughly enjoyed this. Anyone visiting the Central Coast who appreciates a good cuppa and a sweet treat should definitely step into this unique little shop.

This Dan's is a cracker! It's immense in size and has superb stock. The wine selection at this Dan's is beyond brill. I used to be a wine waster (aka waiter), so I tend to salivate over shiraz, perspire over pinot, celebrate over cabernet, vacillate over verdehlo (Ashbrook is my fave... is there really any other white worth bothering with?) and go zany over zinfandel. They're all here: Jim Barry's Armagh, Henschke's Hill of Grace, Penfolds 707 (better than Grange), Elderton's Command, Cape Mentelle's Zinfandel, Houghton's Jack Mann, Grant Burge's Meshach... There is one drawback to this Dan's though. Staffing. There's usually 1-2 people manning the rego's, which is fine and dandy when it aint busy (and it normally isn't) but what happens when there's a flood of peeps? There isn't enough checkout space to handle any sort of capacity which is an in-the-back-of-the-head sort of worry, but a worry nonetheless. Having said that, it is Thornleigh, and even at Xmas time, there's no queues. But during the zombie apocalypse? better bring your crossbow son! The coldroom also isn't the greatest. They have the usuals like most Dan's, but if you want a boutique by the case you could die of frostbite.

One place in particular, this little juice shop that sells freshly squeezed juices. I got this tangerine juice that was 100% freshly squeezed juice. MOST AMAZING DRINK EVER!! I was developing a slight sore throat from the flight over from USA and this stuff felt like a shot of vitamin C flowing down. It was so good. Made the yuckiness go away.
