A couple days ago we went for our first official class, Tutu Toddlers. I think my newly-minted two year old really had a lot of fun. She was shy at first--for like three minutes--then got a lot more involved. She's still learning to listen to instructions so she and some of the other kids on the young end of 2 were kinda doing their own thing for some of the time, but she followed along for more than I expected. They use several props in the class for fun and to help small children with movement and expression. My daughter wasn't super fond of giving up the props each time but thankfully the curriculum is well designed to keep them active and moving to the next segment of class and it was quite quickly forgotten. They played with wands, ribbons, and marched with teddy bears. There was story time, with dance interspersed that aligned with the story. There were bubbles, which is a favorite of about every child this age that I know, and even a time for coloring at the end. The space is beautiful. For this age range the parents are expected to be on the dance floor with their children, but for older ages that are more independent there's a lot of seating for parents to hang out. I'm excited we joined Tutu School. They have a couple of the Tutu Toddler classes and may continue adding more options as they grow. The staff we've met, as well as the owner, have been very friendly. She loved dancing, her teachers, Bernadette and Maureen, and danced until she was a Senior in High School. My youngest son has been dancing with them since he was 4, and at 12 has been to World's twice already, along with National and Regional competitions. The school provides outstanding dance instruction, brings in guest instructors from Ireland for workshops, sets up performances in the community, etc. What sets them apart, though, is that the teachers create a welcoming, positive atmosphere, with great attention to its dancers. The kids love to be with each other, they support each other in positive ways, and the older dancers are great models for the younger ones. The cohesiveness cannot be overstressed, especially when the dancers are preparing for major competitions! This is as good as it gets!!

I was surrounded by such positive, welcoming people of all ages. Throughout the night, we sang karaoke, played cards, shot pool and listened to good music. What really stood out to me was how safe, inclusive, and comfortable the environment felt. Everyone was so kind and genuine. But what truly touched my heart was how the community embraced my brother, who is special needs. There was no judgment only acceptance, laughter, and open arms. For the first time in a long time, I didn't feel like I had to be on guard, watching to make sure he was being treated with respect because everyone just welcomed. It was a relaxing night filled with connection and joy. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, warm, and safe space. LBP provided the space, catered the food (via their onsite cafe, Carver 47), connected us to amazing balloon and floral vendors, and provided other accoutrements (e.g., tables and chairs, table coverings, a stage, sound and tech support, package management). LBP's one-stop shop especially helpful given that our planning team resided outside of Chicago. There is so much to applaud from the experience: the warm and inviting space exuded elegance; the feast was as beautiful as it was delicious; and the LBP team's interactions with us (from planning to completion) was the epitome of grace and hospitality. They accommodated every request and did so with an exceptional level of excellence. When we asked that the menu include a vegetarian and Halal dish, they ensured guests had multiple options. When we requested assistance erecting our banner, they took on the task of assembling the entire structure, even machine washing and drying it when they noticed a stain. Compared to other spaces we considered (and have used in the past) across the city, LBP's offerings and support stood head and shoulders above and their love was palpable in their attention to details.That they have a heart-centered mission and work in support of youth and community was tasty icing on an already amazing cake. A warm welcome at the door every time, and always willing to help. I even forgot a hair tie once and a lady in the art room cut me some stretchy material and I made a pony tail holder. That was awesome. 2. Gym: they have a awesome lifting area. I do HITT workouts and there is plenty of room. Only problem I have is: no slam balls, and drinking fountain is no where to be found downstairs (bring water). 3. Locker room: clean, provide blow dryers. Only problem is showers. Takes a while for water to get hot, stalls too small with only a curtain that doesn't really cover you and you run into it when taking a shower which grosses me out. All in all I am happy, and would recommend you checking this gym out.

The class I took was just one night, but they also offer a multi-week course that I've heard is great and the prices are really reasonable. They seem to do a good job recruiting the best professional instructors they can find. My child isn't old enough yet for their kids' classes, but I know they have a huge following in the area. Their free gallery exhibits are pretty cool and vary from local artists to national. The current one is the work of a photographer from New York.
