The entry is very small and we were told to tell the desk we were there for a trial class. First, the owner was very condescending and responded, "Can you give me a moment?" In a very short tone and a fake smile. At that point I was unsure whether this is someone I wanted to deal with on a weekly basis. But the final straw was - we stepped aside and waited, and waited, and waited. She then goes into a class and starts teaching it! We remained ignored. So I asked another woman. In the meantime the class starts. We find out the trial class is with children 11 and under. My 13 year old was done. Had the owner not seemed so nasty at even ONE interaction, it may have changed our mind. But we have already spoken to two other places that had a VERY different approach. ~Dr.K

My husband and I take ballroom dance private lessons from Marta Rodriguez and Nick Rodriguez - in the rhythm styles: Chacha, rhumba, east coast swing, bolero and mambo. Love them! We've also observed Marta giving lessons to a competitive figure skater improving her musicality and expression and a couple preparing to dance at their son's wedding. Really kind instructors who teach you at the level where you are. My husband/dance partner and I are competitive dancers came to Marta looking to add more advanced styling and improve some areas where we weren't in synch. She is a champion dancer (in her native Poland) but is able to "push" us just enough (a little at a time). We've seen Nick for years teaching at other studios and dancing with his students at competitions and showcases. He always makes his students look great -dancing well and feeling confident. Next month it will be us dancing pro/am with Nick (me) and Marta (my husband)! We will also be dancing with each other.

The main seating area was packed. Yet, they were reluctant to open the balcony. To cap it all off, a dumpster behind the facility caught fire. People were sprinting out the doors to move their cars. The fire department came and put it out. But, then the HVAC system started to pull smoke into the auditorium. Everyone reeked of a fire smell. Just a terrible experience. My advice to BFAC - know your limits.

So of course she loves to....Just Dance!…read more Every now and then I'll accompany my niece, Madelyn to her weekly Saturday morning dance class lasting about 45 minutes. About three teachers, eager teenage girls, lead this class of 3-4 year olds in basic but most importantly fun dance exercises. Teachers here are patient and truly take the time to make sure the kids are learning the proper forms while making it fun at the same time. My favorite part is to see my niece holding on to the bar bending into a plie with her frilly pink tutu. Parents are able to see their little ballerinas in action through a one sided mirror that looks in the dance studio. I definitely suggest arriving at least 5-10 minutes early so you get a good seat on the "viewing bench." Parents are typically not allowed into the class, but I've seen exceptions made for children with severe separation anxiety. As a parent, or even an aunt, it's easy to forget to bring this that or the other to class. Thankfully, both ballet and tap shoes are available at their gift shop for rental free of charge to children enrolled in classes. I cannot wait to attend the recital at the end of the class!

He gave us a hard time for wanting to dance together and called us out mid class saying "well usually it's men as leads and women as followers but hey, it's 2025, who am I to judge." It was uncomfortable and unnecessary to call us out when we just wanted to be treated like what we are...a normal couple on a date night. I reached out to the owner afterwards to see if they could amend the situation and sadly got no response. I wanted to make sure other queer couples didn't have the same experience as us. We will definitely not be returning and will be sure to let others know about our negative experience.

But wouldn't you check to be sure you scheduled our class time before you took our $150 deposit??

A few of my friends & I have been looking for a fun/healthy girls night out spot somewhere between…read moreour houses (in the vast expanse of the West/Far West suburbs of Chicago) & I stumbled on The Attic while I was looking for Zumba classes. I figured that Zumba would be a perfect excuse to get a workout in while having the opportunity to laugh at our collective lack of coordination & rhythm...boy was I right! The Attic is a Christian dance studio, so I was worried at first that our class would be super God-centered...while I'm comfortable with my relationship with God, I wasn't sure if my friends would be so keen on the idea of religion and fitness. I was happily surprised that everyone was ok with it & that the prospect of a fun Zumba class outweighed the potential preachiness of the environment. What's nice about The Attic is that they don't push/preach during classes. We would say a quick prayer before the dancing began & a quick prayer afterwards; the middle was a high energy, gut busting sequence of Zumba numbers that left me sweaty and gasping for air (in the best way possible). I always feel lighter after class, like I can be having the crappiest week ever & zone out for an hour and recenter myself. I emerge human again after an hour of good (clean) music, sweat, and laughter with a great group of women. The other thing that I love is that the owner, Tracy, joins right in with the classes with as much vigor as the rest of us. It's great to see an environment where the owner is as passionate about dance and fitness as the business itself. Zumba classes are super cheap too...$5 gets you into your first class, just to try it out and make sure that you like it. Classes after that are $10 a pop, or you can buy a 10 class punch card for $80 (or $8 a class). You just have to use your punch card in 90 days, otherwise it expires. What's great about that is the accountability factor for anyone (like me) who might buy the card and then procrastinate like hell. I should mention that Zumba isn't the only thing that they offer. While I don't have kids, I know that they do offer dance classes aplenty for kids & teens, as well as other adult dance fitness classes (like ballroom dancing...if only I could get my husband to do this with me...). All the dance that they do is clean and age appropriate, this is, after all, a Christian dance studio & not Studio 54, my friends. If I did have kids who were into dance, I would most definitely give The Attic a whirl because of that aspect. The Attic has given me the opportunity to shake my weekly stress out with a bunch of friends (new and old) while laughing and dancing, all for the glory of Him...doesn't get much better than that.

High energy, enthusiastic workout performed with neon green 1/2 lb. weighted drumsticks! A lot of this is core, legs and arms workout . The instructor was very welcoming to the new students (Me!) And explained alternative movements if I couldn't keep up with the whole routine. 30 min on Tuesday nights but it's also offered Thursday and Sunday afternoon for a bit longer session. I think I will meet a few new friends here, the girls were very welcoming. I think it's coed but I saw no guys in class. So yes, it's Christian rock or pop music we worked out to and I liked it! I bought a punch card for 3 more sessions to be sure I'm committed. But you can save and buy 8 sessions for 40, too. Nice dance room, wood flooring, mirrors, very clean. I saw a ballet class in session when I arrived and a Barre class when I left. Lots of variety! I will definitely be back :)
