This place really feels like a family- the kids all support each other. Anacia is sweet, professional and available when you need her. Ms April and Ms Jen are stellar in their approach to teaching ballet. The Nutcracker performance is beautiful from choreography to costumes-gorgeous! It's a professional production put out by hard working students and their teachers. Also, the studio teaches different dance art forms. And their summer intensive programs are solid! But ever since new ownership, they reached out to me and said everything would change so I took the chance to come back and see for myself and it was a complete 360 degree change. The studio was completely remodeled and new dances were set and were constantly encouraged by the owner to keep being the best we could be. Ever since coming back ive been her for 4 years and will keep coming till my knees give out. Really an amazing difference when you have a new owner that cares for the future of dance studio with the dancers included bring us all closer together. Since it's called an "Art Studio" it would be nice to see some art on the wall or some semblance that art is taught here. I'm not sure how frequently they have classes for kids but the Pierce Extension class is well worth it. Come check it out!

The owner is very personable and she's at the studio on every occasion, she provides refreshments at no charge. However I would caution you that parking is limited and you are not permitted to park at the Citi Bank parking lot or you will be towed. The only place left to park is across the very busy street in another banks parking lot (BofA or WF can't recall), the neighborhood is sketchy, so wear tennis shows so you can walk fast or run (which is what I do). Then you walk in an alley way to get to the back side of the studio, very scary as there are often weirdo's there, so if possible go with someone and walk fast. The studio used to have a security guard in the alley way, but not sure if they still do, that was hit or miss. But once you're in the studio "all is good", but then don't forget you need to walk BACK to your car in the sketchy neighborhood, as a single woman with no companion I stopped going because of the safety issue. I breathe a sigh of relief once I made it "safely" to the studio, but then dreaded walking out alone at night. Not a comfortable feeling for me, so I stopped going because of this. Be safe!

This is a review for parents with kids…read more I am talking about West Valley Dance Academy. I've taken my now close to 4 year old to this studio for the past 6 months, and every day has been great! The school is owned and operated by Lisa Tran. Lisa is a mother and former dancer herself, so she understands both. Lisa teaches many classes herself, and from what I've witnessed, all the kids learn + have a lot of fun. My daughter's main teacher is Kate Newham -- and my daughter loves her! She actually asks before we go if we'll be seeing Miss Kate. Miss Kate is so kind and understanding of all the little kids needs. Many of them, as we all know, just say what's on their mind at any time. Kate always listens, but directs the kiddies back to dance. Also. At no time do the kids just run around and do what they want. Miss Kate has the innate ability to reach them, and keep them dancing. It is a wonderful sight to see, One of the other hi-lights of the school is the ability to watch your children dance, even if you are at home. Lisa sends out a link allowing one to watch their kids progress in the world of dance. Many times, I am watching my daughter from the waiting room, while my wife is viewing from work. Oh yeah, parents aren't allowed in the actual dance studio. You just wait in the comfortable lobby, and watch from there. I should also mention, if one day your little one has to miss a class, they can easily make it up another day They also sell dance shoes, and clothes, in case your tiny dancer needs it. Everything one might need is right there at the studio. I know this school takes older kids too. So don't worry about that. They also put on recitals throughout the year for the bigger kids. Can't wait for my Callie to be in one herself. I usually try to put price of classes, but since my daughter is still in the toddler stage, I can tell you that it is more than reasonable. During the pandemic, masks were required for every person who was in the building. As of right now, masks are optional. I can guarantee, if things change, Lisa will be at the forefront, and mask wearing will be mandatory once again. What I tell people looking for a dance class, is to call West Valley Dance Academy, and request an intro class, so you can see if it works for you and your family. That's what we did, and have not looked back
