My two granddaughter have been dancing here for one year now and love it. If you're looking for a quality dance studio this is your place.

My step-daughter has been attending Dancemaker for the last 4-5 years. She started when she was just a toddler and my overall experience with the studio has gone from very positive to very negative. Overall, it's an uncomfortable environment where the owners are always yelling/arguing with each other right in front of the parents/kids. I also find it unacceptable the constant yelling that occurs between the owners towards the other teachers. My "1" star rating is based on the following: 1) Unprofessional behavior (yelling/arguing) between the owners. 2) Dirty Bathrooms with no paper towels. Cloth towels are provided, but the same towel is used daily by everyone. Surfaces are never disinfected such as benches, doorknobs, and handrails. 3) Chaos in every recital. Constant changes are rarely communicated. 4) Love the recital but tired of seeing the owner (Geoff) in every other number. I come to see the kids perform, not a 60-year-old man performing with teenage girls. 5) Covid-19 Epidemic: As all the schools, universities, gyms, bars, movie theaters and restaurants closed, owners choose to keep dance studio open putting our kid's safety at risk. When the city placed restrictions, the owner stated they were staying open and simply setting their own guidelines (not adhering to the CDC guidelines) to keep students safe. When the entire state shuts down, how can Dancemaker be the only exception? read more

Teachers are great with kids all ages! Teachers are highly experienced and at BROADWAY LEVEL! I have had fun watching my little girls learn and grow their dancing skills. I'm 29 years old. I haven't danced at this studio since I was 10 years old. And yet I still remember this studio with SO much fondness! I remember Geoff and Bernadette and there was a Christina and an April. The productions were amazing. I remember one year when we did a show called Ziggy and it was seriously so good!! My daughter has been dancing at Dancemaker since she was 3 years old. She is 11 now. We have had nothing but a positive experience at Dancemaker. My daughter attended dance and voice lessons for years with Geoff and Bernadette. I loved the classes with Bernadette however when it came time to take classes with Geoff it was not the same. Geoff told my daughter she was a waste a his time. When I confronted him and asked him to find something positive he could say to my daughter... nothing, I pulled my daughter out after the recital. When I called to pick up a copy of the recital I paid for he couldn't find one for me. Both Geoff and Bernadette are good dancers and could teach a lot to children. In my experience Geoff is more about himself than the kids. read more

I had the privilege of working with Geoff, Bernadette and the amazing students at Dancemaker for over 3 years until opportunities in my own career moved me across the country! While there, I not only appreciated the talent of the teachers and students, but even more awe inspiring at times was the work ethic I saw developed day in and day out in these kids! They set goals and would go above and beyond to achieve them all while supporting each other as a family unit amidst the inescapable competition that the industry can breed. Bernadette is very patient, nice. My 3 year old recently started doing ballet with her, and I am amazed at her patience, and how she quickly develops rapport with my daughter. She is also very accommodating. My daughter has classes on Tuesday, but in the event where our schedule has a conflict, Ms. Bernadette always accommodated us to join her other class on Saturday. My daughter started taking tap and jazz at Dancemaker a few months prior to the shelter in place mandate. Since the start she has enjoyed her time with her awesome teachers and newly made friends. With all the challenges of pandemic, Dancemaker has always prioritized the safety of the children. Regardless if class was being held indoors or outside, they performed temperature checks, mandated masks for all, had markings on the dance floor to allow for social distancing, and even provided hand sanitizer throughout class. Because of this, I have felt comfortable bringing my daughter to the studio every week. Dance has been the one constant for my daughter when most of her other social activities were taken away because of the pandemic. I am beyond grateful Bernadette and Dancemaker have gone to all lengths to be there for our kids. It's definitely the best studio around! read more

Dancemaker is an outstanding performing arts school, with dedicated, caring directors, Geoff and Bernadette, who are also NY professionally-trained dancers, and with their dedicated, talented instructors and courteous staff. My four girls have been their students since they were toddlers and are students currently. They have learned different forms of dance, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop, studied voice and musical theater. Some of my girls are members of dancemaker's performing group who perform at local Southern California venues, including Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Six Flags, LA County Fair, festivals, parades, and fundraisers. For their annual recitals, dancemaker produces spectacular, Broadway-style shows which showcase their students' dance, song, and acting talents in a variety of show numbers. I graduated from Dancemaker 2 years ago and am currently attending college in Nevada. After my first ballet class at school, my instructor (who had never seen me dance) approached me and said, "I could tell within the first 5 minutes of class that you were quite an advanced dancer. You have really great technique. Whatever studio you came from definitely taught you well." I couldn't have agreed with her more because Dancemaker did teach me well! Geoff and Bernadette are wonderful. Not only did they teach me to dance, but inspired me to always work hard to reach my goals. I couldn't have asked for a better dance studio to grow up in. My daughter has been at Dancemaker since she was 4 years old. We were referred to the studio by a former dancer there. At the age of three my daughter did a year of parks and recreation dancing ballet and tap. She instantly loved it. I knew we needed a studio at that point. We came in and met Ms. Bernadette. She was very kind and friendly to us. She needed to evaluate my daughter in a class to see where would be best for her. We did just that and we were placed into a combo Tap/Ballet class. My daughter truly loved it. She could not wait til Saturday morning to come around. My daughter also played softball at the same time. Liliana asked me can I take more classes at the dance studio and I said then you have to give up playing softball and she said done. As the years have gone by she has added more and more classes. She was the first 12 year old to ever make the Performing group. This also meant she would get the opportunity to take classes with Geoff like all the big kids and she could not wait. She has learned so much as has grown as person. As stepping stones goes, the studio teaches children all aspects for dance, theater & singing. This has been her home for the past 13 years. My Daughter started Dancemaker at the age of 5 and continued there thru the age of 13. Geoff and Bernadette are Amazing! Their patience to teach kids about dance, discipline and the arts is commendable. What I liked most was that they show them to enjoy the art of dance, its not competitive and will still prepare them for whatever they want to do in the future. I was sad when my daughter chose to dance in HS for the Song Team and leave Dancemaker, I truly believe that what she learned there had a lot to do with her dedication to dance today. Dancemaker is the whole package! Great dancing, singing and acting instructors! Kids can start as toddlers, and stay with the studio right up through high school. It speaks to the nature of the owners when so many graduates come back to teach. The kids just don't want to leave. But leave they do....to pursue college majors in dance and musical theatre. From all the other dance classes I have been apart of, this one by far is the worst. The instructor is all about his own claim to fame. It's extremely corny and most of the parents are so over it. He always has favorites, which is unfair to all the other dancers. He dances way too provocative with some of these young girls, which in my opinion is very inappropriate. It's too expensive and not worth the time and effort just to boost his ego. read more
