The other parents are GREAT we all work together to do fund raisers for this not for profit organization. This school does a lot of charity work. The children in the theatre dance class put on a performance once a month for the seniors and children who cannot afford tution are never turned away. There are many scholorships availible. The director is attentive to the children and truley cares for them. If you get out of your car and socialize with everyone you would know that it isnt clickish. The reason that she doesnt want people parking in front is because security gives tickets to those cars. If she catches you out there she usually says something.

Just when I think I have two left feet, they show me the way to enjoy dancing without being self-conscious. Alexei now teaches group lessons 1) medical university students at Montefiore in the Bronx who dance at competitions 2) group lessons in Riverdale at 3501 Riverdale Avenue (corner of 235th Street), New York, Riverdale 10463 I got to meet some of his group students when we went out for social dancing. They ranged in ages and dance levels, but they all knew how to have fun dancing. Lola has taught teens and children before, both coaching for competitions and for just learning how to have fun at bar and bat mitzvahs. I love to watch how Lola puts self-conscious guys at ease and helps them learn how to dance without nervousness. I sent a guy friend to her to get ready for a conference where there'd be social dancing. Now he's hooked and goes weekly!! He says it's relaxing and educational all at the same time. There's never any pressure to sign up for more lessons. Dance Star Academy is the best.

There was room for only about 30 people in the audience, and you are so close to the dancers during the show that you can see them sweat and hear them breathe--it's a strange, unique discomfort that's both refreshing and memorable. I wish there were more dance events like this where you can experience dance in such a different light.

You can come in here on a Saturday without any dance instruction or background and in two hours actually have a handful of steps and partner turns. My daughter has been taking classes here since…read moreshe was 3 years old, starting with the Intro to Dance class which was a wonderful introduction to structured movement, rhythm and instruction while still being fun for young kids who may not be ready for extreme discipline required from ballet. She progresses each year with each class she takes, leveling up her skill sets and increasing her poise and confidence both on stage (in the recital performances each year) and off. She currently takes 4 different classes each week and looks forward to seeing the friends she continues to make here. In addition to Intro to Dance, my daughter has taken Tumbling, Tap and Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet and now Contemporary. My son recently started taking Tumbling and I love that he is able to focus his abundant energy while learning how to take instruction and act within a structured environment. I love that the owners focus on bringing in dance teachers who are not only knowledgeable but also great teachers and great with kids. Plus, the prices are reasonable and accommodating for families taking multiple classes. Nana and Fred have been great: they have been a part of the local neighborhoods for decades as teachers and owners of this dance school, have an extensive record not only as dancers on Broadway but also as teachers (totally different skill sets) and I appreciate their philosophy of hiring good *teachers,* not just good/reputable dancers. It is amazing to see former students return to enroll their own children, and to hear stories of their past comaraderies and experiences. As a parent, I myself look forward to the welcoming community of neighborhood parents that I've found here, which is not always easy to find amidst everyone's established lives and busy schedules. Bottom line: Albee Dance is a dance school with heart, great teachers, and a warm community.

My wife and I really liked this show. Before the presentation they show some factoids about the…read morestar of the show. One of them was that all of the people performing had worked for Disney. It really showed. The dancing flowed into the magic acts very nicely and all six members always had a bright and cheery smile on their faces. Brad Ross incorporated the audience at times. The illusions were well done. At 1 hour the show seemed a bit short. Probably a good thing since about 1/3 of the audience were children.
