It's not Costco but it's enough to get the essentials. The store it's self was established in 1864 and serviced the prospectors during the great gold strike of Alder Gulch. The people are friendly and know a bit of the towns history as well. I stop and shop there on my yearly journey to this area and love the feel of the place. Like traveling back in time. They don't have a duty free shop, but they have this selection of things that say, "Montana" or have pictures of bison and wolves or buffalo or whatever. They have all the kitchy touristy stuff- huckleberry jams, huckleberry candies, candles, moose pictures, and things to put on the wall with clever Montana sayings or bits of wisdom. "Don't squat with your spurs on." You'll always remember the Bozeman airport every time you dust it from now on. The staff was attentive but looked bored otherwise, like we were the biggest thing to come through the gift corral in quite some time. They also sold magazines with all the hippest fashions and gossips. Montana Gift Corral has so much merchandise that it literally spills out into the terminal with displays of shotglasses, cowboy trinkets, patches, stickers, postcards. The Yellowstone gifts aren't quite as expensive as the actual park itself, but it's up there.

Jason was doing all the cooking for everyone that was eating and he did a fabulous job. He made sure the burgers were fully cooked but still juicy and customized each one as we asked. He was super busy and we appreciated the attention he gave our meals. It was delicious! Prices are a little high but bison/elk burgers are not your average burger and you are in the national park far from suppliers.

We stopped by to grab ice cream before we camped out near Old Faithful for the next eruption. We got the huckleberry ice cream in a cup and added a waffle cone. As an added bonus, the ice cream had huckleberry jam swirls in it, yum. Totally fresh, great texture - yummy. Satisfied our ice cream itch on a warm day after a long hike! We wanted to sit outside to eat the ice cream but a couple of ravens occupied the place because people kept feeding them crumbs. Do not feed wildlife, including the birds - there's signage/requests everywhere in the park but there's always someone who doesn't heed them.. Sigh. Overall the store is great if you want to shop for souvenirs and anything Yellowstone or huckleberry related. Apart from that, they do stock some ready to eat meals as well as some pantry items.
