They both recognized the importance that this transition be a positive move not only for my Mother-in-law but for us. My 91 year old Mother-in-law lost everything except for her kitty in the Palisades fire. She has lived with my husband and myself since January 2025. We felt that she needs to socialize and be active to enhance her quality of life. The staff at Fairwinds made that happen. We had ordered furniture, but it was not in yet. Jen and Tony organized the setting up of the entire apartment. They moved furniture, dishes, towels, bedding etc. from one of the models. They placed snacks, kitty treats, flowers, balloons and even a wreath and sign on the front door welcoming her. Fairwinds community is a clean, bright and cheery community. They offer PE classes, movies, games, outings and more. They have the residents engaged mentally and physically. There is a variety of delicious food offered daily as well. We are a family that has lived in West Hills for 30 years and raised our children here. We saw Fairwinds being built 25 years ago. Had friends place their loved ones at Fairwinds. I have never heard of any negative experiences from anyone! That is why this was our first choice. Our Mom always had a great big smile on every time Terry came into her room. Mom loved her very much. Before Mom went to live there she had really bad allergies but after one day all her allergies were gone. This home is so clean that she didn't need medications, inhalers and cortisone injections. Amazingly clean. Her staff is happy and so sweet to the residents. The food surprised me. Nothing canned they always made everything from scratch. Chicken, Turkey, spaghetti and meat balls, meat loaf, fresh vegetables and potatoes. She even prepared fish and all the residents loved it. We celebrated Moms birthday there; had a really nice party. My mother is currently at a board and care facility with advanced dementia and incontinance issues but they are doing a superior job at maintaining a clean living space. There has been a significant amount of staff turn over and I found it difficult to reach management. I see Allison responding to positive reviews but she never responded to any of the messages I left for her. Her voice mail was never set up and I had no idea how to reach her. I tried to settle my mother's final bill there and it was difficult to reach the business office. I received what was supposed to be my final bill but alas I received another one a few weeks later. When my mother first moved in, there were no up charging, but then they started to add extra charges every month. One month the bill was several hundred dollars more than it should be. I received an accounting and my mother was charged for dozens of meals she never ordered. Management fixed that bill but the helpful person who corrected it for me was gone the next month. It's been frustrating and I began to feel negatively about the experience.
