He was assigned as my public defender years ago as a result of false misdemeanor allegations made against me by my tenants in retaliation for me beginning eviction proceedings against them. I had just started my own business at that time and was not yet turning over a profit and had no choice but to turn to the Public Defender's Office for help. I assumed Leager would guide me through the legal process competently, diligently and with good faith. I was wrong! I was dissatisfied with what I felt was the apathetic manner in which he was representing me. He rarely initiated communications with me and rarely responded in a timely manner when I initiated communications with him. When he did respond, Leager supplied me with only the bare minimum of details regarding the status of my cases and what his plan of action would be. He appeared to be insulted whenever I expressed disappointment in his legal representation. My desire for wanting to be included in the plans for my defense was not welcomed. I got the impression he was not accustomed to defending educated people who would question his competence. When I expressed that I no longer wanted Leager to represent me, rather than having me transferred to a different public defender, Leager set out on what seemed like a very vindictive attack. He quickly, and with the diligence that I would have preferred to see in him with my cases against my tenants, presented to the court a Motion to Withdraw on behalf of the Office of the Public Defender as Counsel. Leager had another public defender (Brandan O'Neill) present the motion at the time of the hearing on his behalf. The presentation was overly dramatic in that O'Neill made it seem like my expression of my dissatisfaction with Leager's "work" was so egregious that this motion is one that is extremely unusual for the PD's office to make. O'Neill also stated that, in all his 13 years as a public defender, he could not recall a similar motion being made by his office. Really??? Could it be because the PD's office is not accustomed to representing educated people who instinctively know when they're being cheated of a good defense??? Due to Leager's and O'Neill's brilliant manipulation of the facts during the presentation of the motion hearing, as well as what I saw as a merciless and biased judge, they were able to have their motion granted. Therefore, they were able to withdraw from my current cases, and I was forbidden to use the services of the PD's office ever again. I had to either represent myself or hire a private attorney. Would you want to hire an apathetic attorney who is ruthless toward you as his client instead of toward the other litigant in your case because you won't lavish this egotistical lawyer with pretentious praise of his haphazard work???

Luckily the firm not paying was a DE incorporated .Thats where Trish comes in...She is specialist in this arcane area of DE 145 which is super high grade coverage based on basic Delaware precedent and statue. So after 7 years, the supreme court plaintiff, finally finds Trish. Whammo, they slam home the $2Million owed + a nice legal fee because Supreme Court agrees with Trish and client's view of whats fair. So. If you can get such a lawyer that has divined wine and/or that has got top court in top business public company incorporated respected corpgov space, and u not just participate in a case at that level but also get favorable ruling, and your lead Partner counsel. Well, then thats why Magic "Pene" as her swathing client base now makes her out of reach for the common man like me. I had a private domestic breach of agreement. never went to court. settled after 9 months or so after Magic Pene was retained. Sadly, I think the cost of retaining Pene will soar but is worth it. She is bulge bracket in DE. I recommend if you need a top lawyer in Indemn/Advancement Employment contract, call Patricia Enerio first. You may not get her as luckily cheap as I did now that she is Delaware Super lawyer, 10+ other awards and more coming down pike. But you will if u get lucky be able to retain a small amount of her time at a critical venture in your business or life and be very happy. She is an incredibly nice and generous human being who has such calm serene powers of focus that she can really also perform on top tier level at Trials and hearings. Thats where her admirers in DE get downright slackjawed describing her, I called 2-3 Partners at other firms recently while looking for counsel. When I brought up Tricia's name they knew it or rather, they knew from my use of word "Penerio" which is her Special Court name at Chancery because there are a few Tricia first named lawyers. But one of current best lawyers in Country (in my opinion and ive hired 20+ lawyers over 20 year principal executive officer and Director role of public corps and required constant finding and reviewing top national lawyers) is here if your reading this review. Now, take a deep breath Mr. or Ms. and i suggest dont rush to contact her. First write down on a piece of paper, "What are 3 reasons im a top lawyer's next top client". After u have that ready to recite if you get chance to talk to her, then make sure you have cash available to throw at her literally on the call. Just recently i swear to god I yelled 3X 3X 3X to try to get her to take on my case of the week. thats offering 300% her per hour normal billing at her firm. I had to reach out constantly for updates but was often told someone will get back to me. I received terrible guidance regarding my divorce in several aspects. He also essentially allowed my ex to run up the bill without my knowledge even when I kept asking for updates and his staff would say he will get back to me. This should have been an easy divorce as my ex and I drafted a spreadsheet to divided things. It feels like I was not represented and he allowed the clock to keep ticking for money. Absolutely terrible decision on my part for hiring David Gagne.
