My intake was completed, my medications were reviewed, and I was sent for X-rays before seeing the physician. The problem is that when I scheduled the appointment, I clearly explained the reason I needed to be seen, provided the testing that had already been completed, and filled out the online questionnaire detailing my symptoms and medical history. When the doctor entered the room, he asked why I was there. After I explained, he told me he does not treat that condition and would refer me to Neurology--even though Neurology was the specialty that referred me to him in the first place. I appreciate the doctor's honesty and that he did not attempt to treat something outside his area of expertise. However, it is frustrating that no one reviewed my referral, records, test results, or questionnaire beforehand. Had they done so, someone could have informed me that this provider does not treat my condition, saving me from leaving work, paying a specialist copay, undergoing unnecessary X-rays, and incurring additional insurance costs. The appointment lasted less than 10 minutes. The doctor reviewed EMG results I was already aware of and documented that my symptoms could be related to neuropathy, despite my explaining that my neuropathy affects my legs and feet, has significantly improved, and is not related to the shoulder and hand symptoms that began while taking a medication. I contacted a manager afterward, who acknowledged the issue and said she would educate the staff and get back to me. More than 24 hours later, I have not received a follow-up. While I appreciate the commitment to staff education, it does not address the time, money, and energy I lost, including the copays and additional imaging costs. Overall, this felt like a completely avoidable situation that should have been identified before I ever arrived for the appointment. My appointment was at 2:20 I checked in my receipt says 2:13, the women who checked me in was extremely kind and we chatted a few - I was brought back right at 2:20, went for xray at 2:30 after sitting going over my medications ect .. back to the room. The X-ray tech was very friendly also! I was back in my car at 2:43.

Although I was pleased with the outcome from the other therapist, there was no comparison with the Julia's process, and results that I obtained from Julia. In reflecting back on my progress, it is now very obvious that she had built a recovery strategy for me since day one. There has been a constant progression of various exercises that she has adapted to my improving condition. In addition to the treatments, her explanation of what and why we are doing things has been spot on. I kind of found it a little bit odd that I was able to have so many choices so close to the date, given that usually my regular massage therapist is booked out weeks in advance. I thought I should try this place because it was closer and, well, I was getting a really good financial deal. So I'd called. when I went to the location in Woburn, it was set up really really odd. The front desk is in a large open area and had a gentleman sitting at the desk who seemed very uninterested in working that day lol. Very serene, but all the lights were blue? It was a little weird and offputting for me, but it did have that calming feeling I guess. My therapist was Hallie (sp?) A male, and I knew that ahead of time, and I was OK with that. He led me to a room in another part of the building. Next-door, and it looked like it was originally a bunch of small offices, and my room had windows? Covered with Window treatment so you couldn't see in from walking through the hallway. That set up was really weird to me. The room was nice. Nothing special, it was on the warmer side, but when I have a massage, I like to have the room warm. He did offer to turn the heat down for me, but I explained how I usually like it very warm. He then went on to explain to me how he does massages. He said he didn't like deep tissue, which, of course is not what I requested, but when he did "Swedish massage and a combination of pressure point massage". I'd never had that, so I thought I would give it a try, even though that's really not what I had signed up for. How was it? It was... Boring? I'm not really sure how else to put it. Is Hallie very adept at what he does? Absolutely. But for somebody who is expecting a Swedish massage where you have sweeping strokes of hands and kneeding your muscles for the entire time you're there, this was not it. I didn't say anything at all because I kept thinking well, he's going to eventually start doing the kneeding of Swedish part of the massage , but he never really did it. He would run his hands over my back or the "affected" area. Find a spot and put hard pressure on it. He explained to me that what that would do would bring blood flow to the area and help with the knot. While I appreciate that, it really wasn't what I wanted for massage. I wanted to relax this massage just felt very... Disjointed. Now I will say again that I didn't say anything to him because I kept expecting that the massage was going to go from this pressure point massage, to a regular Swedish massage because he had mentioned he used the combination of the two. And it didn't. He was very, very nice, and he's very knowledgeable about what he's doing, but the massage was just not really what I had wanted. I probably should've said something while I was there, but I didn't want to make him feel badly that he didn't give me what I needed. Again, I kept expecting during the time that he was going to be changing to the different type of massage. I guess, in retrospect, I should've asked for how he did this combination. But I didn't. I'm not sure I would go back if I had paid full price. If I was somebody who liked that type of massage? Absolutely because it was very thorough.

My husband and I walked in at 4:31 and the office staff informed us Dr. Lee had already left the building because people are supposed to get to appointments 15 minutes early. I asked when I could be seen again and they offered me an appointment a week away. When I explained I would be starting chemo the day before and that might not work, the receptionist said, "I'm confused, do you want an appointment here or not?" I have never in my life seen a doctor leave before the time an appointment started, and without even calling to say she was planning to leave if we did not arrive soon. And then to be brushed off by the staff so rudely was icing on the cake. Never again for me.
