After 6 months of working with Danielle I feel confident in saying she is a one-of-a-kind outstanding teacher and singing coach. I seldom give 5 star reviews but she goes well above and beyond what I expected, and beyond what I actually experienced with another well-regarded singing teacher. Danielle can teach you all of the right techniques, of course, and she can lead you through breath exercises, lip trills, practicing songs, and all the rest, while giving you kind, helpful feedback and tips along the way. And even though you can get a lot of that these days on YouTube, naturally it's extra helpful with a real person. But where she *really* shines for me is in her emotional support and insight (after all vocalization and performance are very emotional things for most people!), and her ability and eagerness to tailor her approach to each student. And you *can't* get that on YouTube, that's for sure! She is wonderfully accommodating, kind, considerate, genuine, supportive, and helpful, and I don't think I'd be making the progress I have been with any other teacher. She also works hard to help interested students build up to and practice public performance by creating safe peer spaces to get behind the mic in front of a group of strangers, perhaps for the first time. There is community building here too, and even public performance as a part of the journey, for students who want to do that. But it's nice that you don't have to have professional ambitions to really benefit from working with her. If you're already a professional and just want refinement and support to become or maintain your best, she's definitely a great person to give you that with her decades of professional performance herself. But I most especially recommend her for people who are less confident and need that extra support to really come into their own with their singing. She's the best partner you could have on that journey! And it feels so good to get more comfortable with using your voice to its fullest as one of the most powerful ways we all have to express ourselves. read more

I have been working with Danielle for about two months. I played musical instruments in my childhood and adolescence and have always loved singing, but don't have any formal vocal training. Voice lessons seemed like a great and portable way to bring music back into my daily life without committing to an instrument. In my experience, Danielle is a phenomenal voice instructor. She quickly figured out what I could already do and where I needed help to grow. She helped me pick songs that fit my style and vocal range. We have worked on several songs and I've found one that feels like a great fit. It is a pleasure to sing! When she says her lessons are "judgment free," she really means it. Initially I was afraid to sing in front of another person, and especially a singer as skilled as Danielle. It requires tremendous courage to sing in front of others. After the first session, though, I noticed that I felt so relaxed and relieved in my body afterward. That happens every time, like the lesson is a nervous system reset. If I come in jangled and heavy, I walk out joyful and light. What I didn't expect when I started is that the deeper gains that go with singing lessons--vulnerability, courage, creativity, and self-awareness, to name just some--are creeping out into the rest of my life. I am trusting my judgement more in my other creative pursuits, and seem to be finding my voice across a wide range of areas. There is something about this work that lets us access our spirit and express it. It's a profound and remarkable thing, and I had no idea my whole life would benefit from working with Danielle. Danielle is absolutely amazing to work with. I hired her to help me prepare for an on air show I was hosting that aired on KQED. Through 4 separate sessions, she helped me prepare what I was going to say and get comfortable in front of the camera. She also came to the filming and cheered me on through the segment. I also hired her to help my son prepare for his high school interviews. She spent 3-4 sessions with him working through possible interview questions and helping him project the best version of himself. I've been working with Danielle since 2020, and I'm SO glad I found her. Not only is she an incredibly knowledgable teacher, she's also just an all-around great person. She's incredibly patient and encouraging, and really helps to build up your confidence. Most notably, she regularly hosts what she calls a Freeflow (a glorified version of a recital) where she brings her artists together to present works in progress. She specifically emphasizes that these are works in progress, which creates a positive and supportive environment to practice performing in front of others in a non-judgmental space. Lessons with Danielle, and experience performing at the Freeflows have allowed me to build up the confidence to audition for a musical theatre role. Danielle is literally an angel on earth. She is such a blessing and I feel so grateful to have crossed paths with her. Singing is my passion but I'm an absolute beginner as far as training goes. I play guitar and piano in an amateur cover band. Singing was always an afterthought - something I'd do when nobody else was around to carry the melody. Danielle has changed that. Danielle was absolutely wonderful with my 7 year old daughter. She tailored the voice lessons specifically for what we needed (help preparing for an audition), and what my daughter could handle. We had originally signed up for 1-hour lessons, but ended up doing a mixture of 45 minutes and 30 minute sessions because that worked better for my daughter. We did a mixture of in-person and Skype lessons, and I was surprised at how well the Skype lessons worked. My daughter warmed up to Danielle very quickly, and really enjoyed working with her. Lessons were fun, and she got tremendously better over the course of a few weeks. Danielle went way out of her way to accommodate my crazy work schedule and my daughter's need to practice (a lot) before her audition. She also created a track of piano music for my daughter to practice to at home, and emailed us all of the warm ups and other tools we needed. We ended up not using her fancy recording studio, but even having that as a possible option was amazing. Danielle is a truly excellent teacher, and we will certainly return if my daughter decides that she wants to pursue singing on an ongoing basis. Yay Danielle! read more

She took a detailed interview on my daughter's first visit, so that she could understand what my daughter's goals were for voice lessons. My wife gave me a gift of voice lessons for Christmas about 3 years ago and she chose Danielle because we had heard of her and seen her perform in San Diego. She has a really great reputation here and also created San Diego Indie Fest and ran it for several years until they moved. We instantly had a connection and I felt at ease with her.
