With the AAA membership covering 100 miles, I was only responsible for 34 miles for the tow back to the Auburn area ($323). The driver said there would be a slight additional charge for the little 14 foot camp trailer I was towing. With the Suburban on the truck and the trailer behind, the logical extra costs reflected time to hook up & unhook the trailer (a half hour at $160 per hour = $80) and some extra fuel for the 134 mile drive (8 gallons diesel at $$8 = $64). Adding $80 +$64 ($144) plus 100% overhead & profit ($144) equals a reasonable cost of $288. Add in the Suburban tow ($323) plus the trailer equals $611 value You can imagine my surprise when my credit card statement arrived with a whopping charge of $1614.50. I called AAA and they connected me with J&L who apologized for the overcharge and said they would credit me for $1291.50 (towing the little trailer at no charge). NO CREDIT WAS APPLIED !! Has since refused to allow the woman to enter the property to collect her cats that were still in her trailer when towed, and have since been let loose onto the property. Threatened to allow his dog to attack/kill her pets if she did not leave, even when on the street, which is public property. God forbid you required a sliver of customer service/consideration along with a tow, which is already an unpleasant life experience. I'm positive you can find another towing company owned by someone with moral standards and integrity. 0/10 recommend supporting the business of an individual who evidently gets satisfaction out of kicking a now homeless woman and her daughter when they're down.
