It's seems like second visit is a charm for Danny's Thai Bistro! Making a few different menu selections and visiting on a bustling Friday night made a world of difference. I ordered the Laksa, and loved every bit of it. It was only after I received my Laksa that I noticed a Laksa on at least eight other tables - it's definitely an option that I would recommend! So fresh, so much flavour and not too much coconut milk - perfect! The service was super friendly and quite fast for a Friday night, although the tables were really close to each other that it seemed a bit crammed. I'll definitely visit again. Are you one of those people who orders the same old meal every time you go to a restaurant? Well, I'm not.....usually. I add the caveat for this review because, while I normally class myself in the "menu adventurer" class - I mean I'm practically the Marco Polo of food, I will try ANY new food once and without hesitation - there is something about Danny's salt and pepper squid that gives me complete menu tunnel vision. It's SO good, I order it, almost without thinking, every single time I eat there. Before I know it, the menu has been whisked away, I have a beer in front of me, and I realise my mouth has somehow ordered the same thing, yet again, of its own accord. Have I become an old person? Why do I do this? Let me explain. Salt and pepper squid is one of those culinary dishes claimed by multiple cuisines: equally at home on a pub menu as a Chinese banquet. EVERYONE thinks they can do it - but few actually can with any élan. I've had bland squid, tough squid, chewy squid, spicy squid, big squid, small squid, red squid, blue squid... you get the idea. But when it is done right - and as you may have guessed, Danny's do it right - it is one of the most enticing, tastebud pleasing dishes on the planet. Many try, Danny's succeeds. For this reason alone I give an enthusiastic 4 star/ yay! I'm a fan rating. There is actually a lot to recommend on the menu in addition to the squid (I always go in a group and have several dishes to share), in particular the chef's specials, which regularly includes a spicy crocodile dish that is amazeballs. If I had to knock off that one star, it's that the serving sizes are certainly not huge. And this is coming from a petite chick: big guys would have no chance of being full on one main/ entree. My advice: order several starters and dishes to share, it's more economical and you're more likely to get your fill. Opening hours are "till late" every day, which is generally around 10 - 10:30pm depending on how busy it is. Danny's is to me what McLarens Bar is to the How I Met Your Mother gang, or what Central Perk is to The Friends: it's my dependable go-to place. I eat the Chicken Imperial and drink Crowded House white and think yeah, maybe I don't hate everyone after all. Danny's is a spacious restaurant with enormous air conditioning hoses running all over the ceiling that are interesting to stare at if your dining companion is being dull. Danni's has a strange cocktail list written in texta on the back wall but the beverages taste better than they sound. My friend and I drank many 'Camp Bitch' cocktails one night and they got us drunk in no time at all. If you want the booths (and everyone does) make sure you book first. Danni's has delicious food and it's all reasonably priced, the service is excellent and they also have a cool fish tank at the back that the kids can oggle over on the way to the bathrooms. Because of the high ceilings Danni's can get a little noisy sometimes, but I like the racket of lots of people having a good time: it's cosy. I also hear a lot of raving about the laksa. I don't eat laksa so I can't comment but, I put my faith in the dining masses: try the laksa. read more

I remember coming to Danny's on a cold winter night, and being a smoker lacking any form of willpower, chose to sit outside. The weather was already pissing me off, so I was counting on the food to put me in a good mood. Fortunately, the food that arrived at our table didn't disappoint. The service was quick and friendly, and our order was taken promptly. Before we knew it, the food had arrived! The tom yum soup was the perfect starter for a cold evening and left me feeling right as rain. The green chicken curry was also a staple choice for a Thai restaurant, and it lived up to its expectations - although it could've been a tad spicier. All in all, the food was excellent and we were very pleased with our time there. I've got to remind myself to go back down to try their laksa, I've heard very good things. Honestly, just hearing the name I wasn't expecting much. I mean how authentic could a Thai restaurant named Danny's really be? The answer is pretty damn good. Ah! I was just going to go on and on about how delicious the salt and pepper squid is but was beaten to it! Nevertheless, I too order the salt and pepper squid every single time I'm here. It has just the right balance of salt and tang, plus the texture isn't so chewy that your neck snaps backwards when attempting to bite it in half - a common problem when ordering S&P squid; I try and try and try to bite it with my teeth and it's such an exhausting effort that I finally give up and stuff the whole thing in my mouth. Is this just me? Another regular dish of mine is the fried rice. So simple yet so... Tasty, fresh, sharp. I hardly ever order fried rice anywhere because growing up, whenever my Mum wasn't home in time to start dinner, my Dad would think he was pro enough to help and get a head start. His culinary skills, however, are limited and so we always ended up with fried rice. I have had more fried rice than showers in the entirety of my existence. Other menu items to look out for at Danny's Thai Bistro are the Tom Yum, green chicken curry, and pad thai. All sound relatively common, but Danny's does it better. I can't decide if Danny's is tacky or classy. Nothing there was horrible, but then again there was nothing to rave about. It was very average. The menu is very limited. As a vegetarian I had few options to choose from, but they let me alter one of the meat dishes so I could eat it. They also have really nice spring rolls, the dipping sauce is delicious! The alcohol range wasn't anything to rave about either. Although, I did manage to find a nice wine that went well with my meal. The food was good. It was slightly spicy, flavoursome and tasted fresh. However, it wasn't enough that I would choose to go back to Danny's, especially since there is such a massive range of Asian restaurants in Adelaide. The price of the food varies dramatically. Entrees are less than $10 and most noodle and rice dishes are less than $15. However, some of the meat and seafood dishes cost over $25. read more

Had a pad thai here and thought it was alright. I can understand how it can be so highly regarded, as good Thai places are rarer than rocking horse shit in Adelaide. As far as Thai places go,this place is okay. It shouldn't set your world on fire. The flavours are good, it's a pleasant enough place and the service is alright. But it's not truly great. Honestly, I don't mind it. I will come back again and again, but I don't have high expectations of this place, and I find that without the expectations, I tend to enjoy Danny's more. We love Danny's Thai, we had an entertainment book voucher which is why we chose to eat here last Friday evening. The food was delicious, and decent serving sizes. Lucky we booked as it was quite busy being a Friday evening. The service was a little slow but the staff were really friendly and there was a great footy game on so our table didn't mind. Had tried this place for takeaway twice and finally convinced my bf to dine in yesterday. As a big fan of their chicken larp, I had to have it again. We ordered the salt and pepper squid as suggested by many on here and the duck curry. The squid was wonderful and we couldn't have enough. The duck curry was average and came in an entree serving though we ordered a main. Their Laksa is nothing great either. Overall not fantastic but will def stroll up the road if I have a craving for Thai! read more

I had heard good reviews of Danny's but when I went there for the first time, it still exceeded my expectations. So far, it's my favourite restaurant on the Parade and definitely one of the best Thai places in all of Adelaide. Let's start with the service: all the waiters were extremely friendly and quick. Someone always came pouring the wine when the glasses were nearly empty. The food was outstanding. We were 4 people and order the banquet at $26 per person. The starters consisted of chicken satay and spring rolls. Mains were phad thai, basil chicken, something with beef, which was my favourite of all the dishes, lamb curry and rice. Everything was delicious, perfectly flavoured and the portion sizes were just about enough for everyone. It's certainly not the cheapest Thai restaurant in the Eastern suburbs but prices are moderate enough and in regard to the quality you get, I'd recommend everyone to try Danny's Thai Bistro. read more

This cute little bistro serves delicious Thai food. You will not be disappointed- not matter what you order. The wait staff are always friendly and kind. The atmosphere is great for groups or just dining alone for lunch. You won't have to wait long for lunch specials - they come flying out of the kitchen at rocket -fire speed. The prices are good. Been here a few times but the last time I visited the food was quite below standard...won't be going back anytime soon. The Pad Thai was a bit off, not what I expected it to be, it had a prawn flavour to it. Yes there were prawns in it but it shouldn't reek of prawns. The other dish we tried was somewhat bland. They couldn't even get my lemon lime bitters right. All in all, a very disappointing experience after having good food here in the past. I always look forward to a 'Thai Night' but was very disappointed with this. A much better Thai place is just up the road. read more
