My wife and I found this place on Yelp while driving along the Rhein one afternoon. We were looking for a good lunch spot and decided to check this place out. We parked along the main road as it runs through town, then walked into the shopping area and made a left uphill to the restaurant. There were two other tables occupied outside on the covered patio when we arrived, so we decided to take a third table and were seated by the server. She then gave us the menus to peruse for a few minutes, and soon we had ordered the Penne Arrabiatta (extra sharf), Penne with Gorgonzola sauce, and two Pilsners. Inside the restaurant was a very pleasant smell of freshly baked pizzas, and a number of additional tables in front of a bar that separated the front of the house from the kitchen. Soon our beers and food were delivered. The pasta was piping hot with amazing sauces. Super flavorful, and excellent textures. The portions were big enough that we requested a box with the rest to go. The total was 21 Euros for everything, which was a great value, given the quantity and quality. This is a highly recommended place to come for some great pasta and a nice vibe.

It was an interesting dinner evening at Osteria Novecento…read more Initial impression: Friendly reception, showed us to the back section of the restaurant plus offering us to choose a table from two available. Good space between the tables, nice decoration all around and a large real candle on each table. Restaurant was busy with most of the tables occupied. Food: I had the Panzerotti Ricotta Spinacci for my entree, which was great. Pasta was al dente and well seasoned, however portion size wise it could have been a bit more. It was sufficient for me, but other people probably would want more for dinner. My fellow companions were not as happy with their entrees. Portion wise they were more blessed than me, but they were not too happy with the taste and seasoning. Desserts were very good, we had the Mousse Al Limoncello and Tiramisu Al Fragole. Now you might be wondering about the 2 star review, so let's get to the service: It was abysmal. Let's start with the menu. As with any Osteria, there is a big focus on their wines, followed by the food menu. The wine menu consist of a large selection of wines, each with a detailed description and a price by bottle and by glass. However our server did not explain that these wines are not really available per glass until we actually tried to order. He pointed then to a shorter list of wines, however which didn't include a description. We were able to find good options of wines to drink, but it made a bit harder. For the actual service of wine and food, it took our server a good 15 min to serve the drinks. After waiting another 45 min for our food we had to first complain to our server and then another 15 min later to management. We were given different stories (one of them a full-on lie) on why we had not yet received our food, in the end it took more than 1 1/2 hours after arriving at the restaurant to get our food served. It really overly soured our experience at the Osteria Novecento. To be fair, restaurant management did not charge us for the desserts which was an offer that we accepted.

Good appetizers Every time, a part or one of the plates were too salty. (e.g. mixed vegetables which accompanies most of the main courses) Last time, the Tagliatelle with fresh mushrooms and Bacon were really salty. Bacon was totally overpowering the mushrooms...and this was on the "chefs recommendation" page 1.... The stuffed canneloni were partly underdone or dried out at the corners. Again we mentioned the deficiencies of our food but the restaurant offered again no compensation (coffe or discount).
