We were looking to try out some traditional desserts that we had never experienced before. Of the many food carts parked side by side, this one seemed to attract our attention the most. We stood by and watched how the Marquesita is made. Batter is added to a crepe pan and cooked made to order. A variety of fillings were available to choose from, but we asked for their most popular food item. Apparently shredded cheese and nutella is a favorite choice of the locals. Joe K and I shared this unusual dessert combo, and the blend was better than I expected. I wasn't quite sure at first if I would like cheese and chocolate together, but it turned out pretty tasty after all. It was a nice ending to our all day food truck food binge at the park!

So, being the first English language reviewer on the page, let me explain what this is. Marquesitas are pastries, to go pastries to be exact, rolled into some sort of a fried crispy tortilla, with cheese and a dash of nutella. Granted, there are a few variations, but the one I got appeared to be the most common. The flavor combo is amazing and it's a true street food dessert that you cannot miss while traveling! The truck stays open late, I came close to 11pm. Sometimes the most unexpected combinations get you, so you if you are a mildly adventurous eater, make sure to give this a try!

I was looking for El Rey Del Taco to grab one last taco before my flight out. It wasn't there so I walked around looking at other carts and decided to give Kuni a try. I am so glad this was my last meal in Playa because it was the best way to end my trip. I wish I could tell everyone in Playa to go here and try the tacos. I'm sad I didn't know about Kuni before but I will be coming back to PDC just for these tacos. I tried the fish taco (pescado) and the shrimp taco (Cameron.) I can't even decide which one I like more because they were both so delicious and fresh. The seafood is fried fresh right there in front of you. Everything is so fresh and it's all made right there. The sauces are all made fresh right there. They have fresh sliced cabbage, cucumbers, and diced tomatoes and onions. There are a variety of fresh sauces they make. I used the habanero and chipotle mayo. Perfect combination. They also don't touch the money with their bare hands which I thought really showed how concerned they are about cleanliness. There was a man, woman, and younger boy working there so I assume they were a family. The man spoke perfect English and was so friendly. That was the best experience I've had in PDC. I wish I had more time to try the calamari tacos and the jalapeño stuffed with crab tacos. Next time! I could go on and on about how incredible this place was but you really should try it for yourself. The prices are so cheap too. It's around 20 pesos a taco which is so cheap. Do not waste your time on an over priced mediocre meal on 5th ave. Seriously do yourself the best favor ever and indulge in these delicious tacos. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone to take picture. Take my word for it, they are incredible!

Tacos: Al pastor, sirloin - the kids enjoyed quickly and nibbled on other entrees. Chicken quesadilla with grilled chicken - tasty plain, but even better as I alternately ate pieces with the green and red smokey salsas. This meal states "three pieces" but it was three separate quesadillas, which I shared. Steak dinner was prepared well and included a soup, tortillas, and baked potato so we had leftovers. The restaurant felt quite busy but service was adequate given the large parties at each table.

Tacos average $1.50 but the menu is much more extensive than just that. Party of two as a walk in and seated right away. Atmosphere is very casual, no frills, with a mix of tourists and locals. Two different al pastor meats cooking and can be seen getting freshly sliced. Opted for an assortment of individual tacos, which were all very flavorful with tender meat. About street taco sized, maybe a little bigger. Tried their signature fogoncito bistec which consists of beef, bacon, chorizo and melted cheese. Comes with side or tortilla so you can make your own tacos. Delicious with incredibly savory and tender meat. Pair it with a couple Mexican lagers for a perfect mid day meal.
