We have labor-intensive framing needs that include matting and inserts for photos and credits. They do a breathtakingly great job. The frames are under a deadline, which is hard because of the intense labor, but they work with us and always come through completing the job on time. This has been a long drawn out experience. I brought 3 pieces of art to have framed in early August. At first, the communication and customer service was impeccable. Two months on, my project still isn't finished and the manager (John) does not respond to emails or phone calls. I picked up 2 of the pieces yesterday and still have 1 that they had just sitting at their framing warehouse waiting for another frame to be chosen because the original one we chose was out of stock. Nobody called to explain this to me nor to update me on the long delay of my project. I also asked them to keep the original frame of my 70's piece as it holds sentimental value and it could not be found yesterday. I have asked for the business owner to contact me so we will see how that goes. I will never use this framing shop again. read more

I have a small space and decided to fill it with a big, big canvas: 48" x 60". Dark Horse Framing made the process of Framing it very easy. They helped me find the perfect frame for it, making good suggestions and trying different options until I found the one I liked. When it was time to pick it up, they recommended that I measure my Forrester and consider renting a U-Haul, which I did. Thank goodness! As they helped me load it, Vonna went over how to hang it. Due to her detailed instructions and the hooks she sent me home with, I was able to hang it easily and immediately. I was worried that I might have a big elephant in my little living room but it turned out beautifully! Maybe it's because I was a walk-in, maybe she didn't like my original Australian bush art, maybe it was a bad day, but it was clear that the owner couldn't care less about framing my painting and helping me to choose a frame. I decided to update my master bathroom with a giant custom mirror and had Dark Horse make the mirror for me. They have an amazing range of frames and Vonna was very helpful in directing me to the types of frames that could actually support a mirror of this giant size. I used Dark Horse several years ago when they were under a different name - but the same ownership. I brought in an embroidered picture I purchased in Vietnam recently. They matted and framed the piece for less than half the cost I spent a few months ago at a frame shop in Burlingame. And it's perfect. I was provided a clear explanation of both the widths of the matting and the costs. We worked together on selecting the matting and frame with both the cost and the end result in mind.
