Und was gibt es zu essen? Kumpir!

Absolutely unbelievable! The true DIAMOND in the rough of Berlin…read more It is not open on Monday or Tuesday, however I was in here virtually EVERY morning at the crack when they opened for their fresh baked goods. Pain chocolat, madeleines, tiny eclairs, macarons (which are ok), tortes, and those true to real good croissants. You can not get croissants like this in America. It's gotta be the butter I say, somehow it's different I am convinced. The place is run by a French baker (either that or the German guy speaks French real well), and in the product it really does show what the heck he is doing. It's also run by many other people who know other languages, an English woman, and some other young French girl who also of course speak German, and enough English to take your order. The also make fresh squeezed orange juice here. The coffee is also very solid, beans ground on order and made at the ready. I would come here every morning when the over was fired up, and so did lots of others. The line does move quickly, and on a dreary rainy morning when nobody is out, this is truly where everyone is, including many French people I discovered. I still can't stop thinking of those croissants, and grabbing them warm and hot right off the shelf for consumption. Get there early when they are prime, hot, flakey, crackely on the top, just amazing. I will be thinking of this place till the day I die, cause I will miss it so. If it's in your neighborhood you owe it to yourself to come here every morning.

The watermelon macaroon was strong. It had a VERY strong watermelon taste. If that's your thing. Go for it! The cherry macaroon was perfect as well as the blueberry cheesecake cupcake. Cake pops are mentioned but they were not available. Great spot just small with a possible wait if there's only one worker.

If you go to Tigertörtchen expecting to eat cupcakes fit for a tiger, you will come away severely…read moredisappointed. Instead, I am pretty sure their motto is that you will be as hungry as a tiger after eating here. Harsh, I know. But I'm a bit of a cupcake connoisseur, and this place just doesn't cut it. For starters, the cupcakes are tiny. Like, you could eat an entire cupcake in one bite. Instead of calling them törtchen, why not call them töörtchenchen? And for those of you thinking that tiny cupcakes aren't a bad thing (e.g. you can try more of them and see what you like best), for €1,30 each, that's highway robbery! (To compare, just look at Cupcake Berlin: giant cupcakes for €2,20 each - you would spend a good €5+ here to get the same amount of satisfaction.) Next up, flavors. There are lots that sounded good. But if you're vegan, you can choose from pineapple or banana cherry (maybe they rotate flavors but I don't know -- those were the options when I was there). Neither sound that great. But I went with banana cherry, which ended up tasting like a muffin with a banana chip and cherry on top. The frosting and toppings were tasty, but the cupcake itself was boring. On a positive note, the fellow liked his chocolate vanilla one. Then there is the issue of getting them to go. Just don't. The packaging they use is kind of inadequate (i.e. setting them on a plate, putting wax paper on top [which the frosting sticks to], and putting that in a bag that has to be carried horizontally). Can we just get boxes? Also, note there is no public restroom available. I don't like to be such a hater, because I really love the idea of cupcake shops. But unfortunately, this place was a total disappointment to me. ETA: "Stefan, Thanks for responding to my comment. It shows a desire to want to improve your business, which is important. I did, however, find that posting this on Facebook and calling me out personally--an action which invited negative comments toward me from total strangers--was a bit unprofessional and very passive-aggressive. To be clear, I don't think your business is bad. It's just, as you said, not the right place for me. And that's OK. I am certain you probably don't like every restaurant or cafe or other business establishment you visit, and there is nothing wrong with that. To be honest, you seem to have a pretty popular following, so I wouldn't worry that my one "really bad" review will hurt your business. There is a market for what you do and a lot of people like it. I just prefer to make cupcakes at home, because the Berlin cupcake scene doesn't really meet my "needs." Jedem das Seine." "Hello Natalye, we are totally sorry if stranger react on your rating. At least you can re-react on that. We don´t know how many customers avoid the café because of sentences like: - Then there is the issue of getting them to go. Just don't. - but the cupcake itself was boring. - you will come away severely disappointed If you find our behaviour unprofessional and aggressive we are sorry and we will improve our behaviour as well. Have a nice weekend Stefan & das tigertörtchen team P.S: But isn´t it strange to ask for the vegan way of life, but request boxes for 4 mini cupcakes and blame us for using a trash saving package (Cupcake Berlin uses plastic bags....perhaps good for our vegan way of live, but definately not good for the environment)."
