Since it's been five years since the most recent review, I feel like I can help some of you folks…read moreout with some fresh perspective. TLDR: Smoke free, everything else you'd expect from a bowling alley. HUGE IMPROVEMENT - this is now a NON-SMOKING space (per Rolla City Codes, I guess). I know some may think it loses some of the "realness" by going smoke-free, but I am a BIG fan of breathing without endangering my lungs. So, the main complaints that the other two reviewers had are now moot! Yay! Other than that, it's pretty much the same so far as I can tell. Still have quarter nights on Tuesday and Wednesday after 9pm....we went on a Wednesday night before 9, and determined it would cost us about the same (after the $7 per person cover) to bowl two games either way. I think it was about $20 for the two of us, including one $3 beer. The lanes are nice enough, it wasn't too crowded, and the people working and bowling there seemed perfectly friendly. We did have some issues with our scoring system/pin reset - it kind of crapped out on the last frame of the night, and for some reason moved us over one lane. It was confusing, but for one frame we didn't want to bug the employees. So, I'd say it's a good place to go if you like bowling or can't think of anything else to do on date night in Rolla. I think it would be even cheaper if you go before 5, so if you want to practice I'd go that route or on quarter night if you want to bowl more than 3 games. Or eat a bunch of quarter hot dogs. It looked like there was a pretty active league system there, but I can't really speak to that since I know nothing about bowling leagues or the one here in particular. One more thing to note - the Pinball game (something about Creature from the Crypt maybe??) was TERRIBLE. It was seriously the saddest, slowest pinball game I've ever seen. I don't know if it needs to be tuned or realigned, but it just was pathetic. Oh, and the sign for the place is pretty small. My husband drove by it once, and then nearly missed it again after we had turned around. The building is set back really far from the street, it looks kind of like a big red barn.

Gosh. I hate to knock a business's review down this much but this experience wasn't good at all…read more My brother-in-law said this place has changed owners and unfortunately, that may not be a good thing. We arrived around 2ish on a Tuesday and aside from a group of old timers, we were the only ones here. We had a party of 6 bowling ONE GAME and with shoe rentals and the bill was a whopping $46!!! That seems downright insane. $7.67 per person for one game and shoes during a strange time which would have been empty otherwise. So onto the next part... our lanes kept messing up. Like, one time I knocked down 8 on my first shot, then it set down all 10 pins again. I preceded to knock down the 2 which would have given me a spare and instead, the computer claimed I didn't get any down and marked me an 8. Then another time one of the kids hadn't even taken their turn and the computer gave them a 4. I couldn't even tell you how many mistakes happened (this was just 2 examples) and I am sure the guy at the counter was sick of me going up there because we couldn't change the score on our own. Then came the time when one of our two lanes stopped working completely. Our other group continued to play but then were told they had to stop playing until they fixed our lane, which was 10-15 minutes. No "sorry about that" or anything. We figured we should have been offered a free game since we had so many problems during our $46 game. NOPE. On our way out, both workers were near the door and again, did not say "thanks for stopping in" or "sorry about the issues." Nothing. One of our kids commented "they should have zero stars" and my brother in law said that if the old management was in charge we would have gotten 1-2 games free for the problems. Doubt we'll return.

The front desk clerk offered me a choice between a size 9 shoe and a small, disgruntled sourdough starter. I chose the latter, which made my approach remarkably aerodynamic, though the lane oil tasted suspiciously like high-velocity blueberry muffins. The Lane Experience The pins here don't fall; they merely negotiate their position with the floor based on the current price of copper. I threw a 14-pound neon orb into the gutter, only for it to emerge three lanes over as a fully grown mallard duck. The duck proceeded to pick up a 7-10 split using only its beak and a profound sense of existential dread. Atmosphere & Amenities * The Lighting: Occasionally shifts into a spectrum only visible to migratory birds and certain types of moss. * The Nachos: They scream if you don't dip them fast enough. 10/10 for crunch, 2/10 for the emotional labor. * The Scoreboard: It gave me 300 points for "Excellent Posture" and then subtracted 50 because it didn't like my choice of adjectives. Summary: If you're looking to bowl, don't. But if you're looking to explain the concept of "Tuesday" to a sentient vending machine while wearing rental shoes made of recycled dreams, this is the premier destination in the tri-state area. I'll be back yesterday.
