I did some searching and contacted a few companies for bids and chose Millers. It was easy to communicate what we were looking for, Trex decking options and prices were clearly presented and priced. We agreed to a date to start the work and Millers showed up as agreed. They worked efficiently and kept the job site clean and organized over the four days of construction, they arranged for all the permits and inspections, when Trex shipped the incorrect kit for our stairs they told us immediately and let us know when they would be back to finish that part and they arrived as promised. Craftsmanship was excellent. Communication was constant and accurate, and I would certainly use Millers again based on our high level of satisfaction with the entire process and the end results.

In the listing of the top ten companies in Pittsburgh, PA for deck building, I found Dutchmen Decks, LLC. Knowing the skill and craftsmanship of the Amish, I called and set up an appointment. I met with Brian, from sales, who was most pleasant, knowledgeable, personable and positive. We both looked over the existing structure which was quite unique. He assured me that they would know how to confront the issues and come up with solutions. He then worked up a quote which surprised me. It came in at five thousand dollars below any of the other quotes that I had received. The others never left me in a positive mood and were charging more. I actually even offered more, I was so impressed. I sent in the ten percent deposit to get things moving and soon the materials were delivered to my door. On day one, the foreman, Danny and two co-workers arrived and immediately proceeded to demolish the old porch. The next time I looked, half of the new deck was already erected. None of these three men were seen in conversation with each other with the exception of project inquiries, none of them were ever seen off to the side talking on a cell phone.....never. They worked non-stop, broke for lunch and were promptly back on the job. By the time the day was done, all that was left to do was the railing. They returned on day two to complete the project. The materials were most impressive. I expected 4X4's, I got 6X6's. For the railings, I expected 4X4's and 1X6's and I got 4X6's and 2X8's. I also went with a composite floor. When I toured the job with Danny, the foreman, I was literally speechless. I was so pleased, so happy at what I saw, it was emotional for me. I know, I know! But if any home owner has ever had great work done at your home, don't you feel great. You weren't ripped off, you weren't cheated or overpriced and the results just overwhelmed you?
