But Scott and his team came in and did an amazing job of installing our drywall for us. Our place needed a lot of attention before the drywall could even start. Scott went above and beyond what we could have expected of him. He straightened out the window framing that was not installed correctly. He added 45 studs that were missing. He cleaned the place up, patched holes in the floors, added insulation that was missing. He was able to get the place in great shape to pass inspection for the drywall to begin. Note, this is not what he normally does, they do drywall, but he saw it needed to be done, and did it. Most importantly, the drywall installation came out beautifully!!  They even installed amd framed out a wall next to the fireplace to hide a structural post, which can now be used for  firewood or shelves.  These guys know what they are doing and we couldn't be happier having chosen them for the job. Scott is a great guy, professional and polite. I highly recommend him and his team for any drywall job!!

And I'll be honest, the handyman we usually work with was booked up for months. It actually seemed like all the handymen were. (There's a pandemic out there, and apparently everyone's taking the time to fix up their home.) Marty let me know that he was busy too, and that he was taking some time to spend with his family (and you can't begrudge someone being a good family man). But he was willing to do the work when he was free, which is all we could ask. I also appreciate how he operates. He'd prefer to get photos/video of what the problems were so he can give you an accurate estimate before even setting foot in the place (saves everyone time), and so he can show up with all the materials necessary (saves everyone time and money). His website is also pretty comprehensive; it lists all the things he does, who he is, how he works, and shows work he's done. That's how I found him, and I'm glad I did. I also like that he's willing to admit what he can't do (in our case, it was more involved electrical work). Some folks claim they can do anything, and will do a less than ideal job; Marty will just recommend someone who he's worked with and can vouch for. In any case, we had a few odd jobs that needed doing, and once Marty let me know when he was available, he was on time, and efficient. He did quality work. I thought the pricing was fair for his time and labor, and I would hire him again. That's really all you can ask from a handyman.

I was pleased to learn about Marty and HV Handyman from a Yelp review, and even more pleased that the review was written by someone from Yelp I actually know in person. Marty is professional yet casual, a nice combination. He was always quick to get back to me when I contacted him in advance of the work, always in less than 24 hours. When I initially sent him a description of the work and a photo, he got back right away with his estimates of time and materials, and cost. Along the way, he was proactive when it came to things unexpected or little adds. For example, he discovered rodent damage on some of my electrical wires, and he immediately offered to take care of that. Within an hour, he had gone and returned to the local Home Depot with the extra materials to address the issue, and the add-in to the overall cost was again reasonable. He did 99% of the cleanup as well, leaving me with about 5 minutes of work to wipe off some dust after he completed the spackling, sanding, and painting. Marty also doesn't over-book, and he is again up front with what he can and cannot do. I've already discussed another project or two I'd like him to tackle once warmer weather has returned. I only hope he hasn't been swamped with additional work requests based on positive word-of-mouth and word-of-Yelp.

The estimate, while not cheap, was still reasonable considering that all the extras mentioned above were included and did not have to be "tacked on" to the original estimate. As another reviewer mention , we asked Mike to add another accent strip of tile as a bullnose and he was very accommodating and did not charge extra. Another plus was the timelines and neatness of Mike's work. He started when he said he would and worked everyday until 4, except the weekend, until the job was done. He was careful to cover the floors and clean up after each day. I am not an expert when it comes to bathroom renovations but I do have some construction knowledge and it appears that Mike Kraemer is a skilled contractor with a broad knowledge base who does not cut corners.

They all work together hard to finish the project. I had my basement walls and floor painted and sealed with DryLock- beautiful work. The exterior stonework needed repair and they did great with respect to matching the old grout color from 1995. I was pretty amazed how they were able to do it so perfectly. They clean up after themselves leaving no construction debris.
