After getting several estimates, we hired green collar to repair our circa1800's front porch roof. We wanted to keep our yankee gutters, and Mike worked with us with a design by applying a rubber (EPDM) roof first to seal the yankee gutters, and then added a standing seam roof to its edge so as to keep with the esthetics of the historic home. Green Collar is an amazing construction company! I have had 2 projects done by them and have been 100% satisfied. Last year they did a lot of much needed, overdue repairs to my aging home, including a new front door, window wraps, soffits, gutters... This year our roof leaked, and Green Collar came to my rescue. I felt comfortable from my first meeting with Dave from Green Collar Contracting. I talked to 6 different companies for new siding and gutters and we opted for Green Collar Contracting. Dave was honest, gave us options and didn't try to upsell us on materials. He was able to guide us through the process of new siding and gutters for out 100year old craftsman that would stick with the craftsman look we wanted. Once work begun the crew was on time, cleaned up every day, was polite and patient when we asked questions and was nice to our dog which is an added bonus. I LOVE MY ROOF Dave made me feel like family and not just a customer from start to finish job regarding my roof. Show and explaining all products used and colors available. Warranties. etc. The crew on site were fantastic friendly and polite. From Start to Finish questions were answered with explanation with no complaints. Making sure to question me regarding my every needs and that everything looked perfect before they left job. Wish we could give Green Collar a ten star review: we needed an extensive and fairly urgent re-roofing job on one part of our old(100 year) house. It was a challenging and complicated repair to a highly visible part of the building, and at first we weren't sure if we could even locate a good firm with experience of a non-standard project. This brand of business people simply don't exist any longer, with one exception - David Cohen and Green Collar. Two months after the new roof he put on, I called with a problem unrelated to his workmanship, but part of the job. He was there in 4 days and the issue was fixed in a perfect way. From the day we hired him, it was smooth-going throughout the whole process. Fair contract, fair rate, good and honest work. Although we hired him to do our roof, he is a General Contractor, so he does more which is good for us. Final mention: If Jerry is the Foreman on-site, you might have some good conversations, some laughter too. read more

Where do I begin? We had water seeping through our roof because of it not being installed properly. When we bought the house the roof had just been replaced, so we figured we would be good for at least 20-25yrs...nope! Long story short insurance doesn't cover bad workmanship. That's why is very important who you choose to do the work! So now we have a rather large unexpected bill right at the most inconvenient time. Dave tried to do what he could to get insurance to replace the roof or at least get some of the money from them but to no avail. The awesome thing about this company is that there are no surprises. Dave told me from the get go what to expect, even that the insurance company probably will not pay. I consider myself a pretty educated homeowner but he pointed out issues that I was unaware of with the attic ventilation that needed to be fixed. NEVER TRYING TO UP SELL ME! I want that to be clear because so many companies try to squeeze the consumer for the most they can, not Green Collar! For example, I bought a new attic fan to be installed with the new roof. I asked Dave how much he would charge me. He said he can't do the electrical (not licensed) but he would install it for free. Also when the old shingles were off and we saw just how many pieces of plywood needed to be replaced it was almost the whole roof! He worked with me on the price of that even though we already had a contract as to how much per sheet it would cost. Dave is the kinda guy that runs a business how businesses used to run. He really cares about his customers, his reputation, and to that point the quality of the work. He said "if we can't do it right we're not going to do it!" When we can free up some money we are going to have them back for some more stuff. Oh one last thing...the lady in the office Christina, is probably the nicest person I've ever talked to. read more
