We had…read moreattended a coop in the past, and she had a hard time being dropped off, so we were cautiously hopeful that her first foray into preschool would be a positive one for her. All of the teachers at Little Hands are so sweet with her, and take her into their fold as soon as we get there. Any clinginess she has dissipates within seconds of arriving. When I come back to pick her up, she's all smiles, hugging and kissing her teachers. The half day schedule is 4 hours long, which is perfect - long enough that I don't have to turn around right after dropping her off to pick her up again. And they feed the kids snack AND lunch so I don't have to worry about packing a lunch on top of trying to get everyone out of the door in the morning. BONUS. The space is sweet - a large backyard with lots of play structures and toys, as well as chickens and bunnies. The kids help feed the chickens and sometimes collect eggs to use for lunch. They also have a plot at the community garden a few blocks away that they'll go to sometimes for a picnic lunch. Best of all, this is a place where my kid can get MESSY. I'm too anal to do those kinds of projects at home - the ones involving glue, glitter, paint, mud, gack... But I don't want my kid to be anal like me, so I'm very happy to see her little feet and face covered in dirt and what-not at the end of the day. My younger son joined this past year, and we are so grateful that he, too, gets to grow and learn in such a special place. The teachers at Little Hands are truly exceptional--kind, conscientious, warm, and confident. They approach each child with genuine care and respect, creating a safe space where kids are not only encouraged to explore and express themselves, but also gently guided to be thoughtful, kind, and responsible members of their community. It's clear that the staff is deeply committed to teaching children how to be good humans in our complex world. We especially love the play-based learning approach, which allows the children to learn through curiosity, imagination, and joyful discovery. The time they spend outside in the beautiful garden is a highlight--planting, playing, and connecting with nature in meaningful ways. It's the kind of early childhood experience every parent hopes for. Little Hands has been such a gift to our family. I would not recommend this facility for child care…read more The majority of the staff don't seem to enjoy children --there is no sense that the teachers actually enjoy children. We found the staff to be rather rigid in their teaching & discipline styles. They don't seem to be able to adapt to a specific child's needs. They are frequently understaffed. Always sending out messages to get parents to "volunteer" to skip school/pick up the kids after they've been dropped off. They offer you "credit" if you do this, but the "credit" is significantly less than their daily rate...so essentially you are paying them so you can watch your own kid?!? And if they don't get enough volunteer pick ups, they'll just close classrooms, meaning you can't come to school/you have to pick up your kid after drop off AND you don't get any compensation at all--you are paying them full price so that you can watch your own child. Heaven help you if your kiddo ends up in a class with one of the director's / teacher's kids. They let those kids run wild and pretty much run the classroom. The directors clearly favor a couple staff members over others. That whole situation is super awkward to be peripherally involved in and observe. It reminds me of mean girls in high school...so awkward and not something to appreciate having to see when I'm paying this much for allegedly professional care givers. The cost of enrollment is astonishingly high, even compared to other facilities. They don't do anything there to justify a higher price point--they don't have better staffing ratios, don't offer more activities or provide better food. On top of that, you are expected to help cater a seemingly endless number of meals for teacher appreciation. The formal "teacher appreciation week" consisted of several breakfasts and lunches and the food requests were bizarrely specific. There are several more times throughout the year that you are expected to help cater meals for staff. Overall, I felt that this facility treats the kids as economic units. Their priority is making money, that's it. The facility is clean. Sometimes they have good teachers, but usually the good ones leave within ~12 mos, likely due to the toxic environment. I have heard from others that the care is better for the babies (like up to 18 mos or so). I don't have experience with that at Goddard.

So at least 3 years. When you see a daycare with high employee retention, they are doing something right. It's a play based school and that was a great fit for my little boy. Highly recommend.
