We chose David as our wedding photographer shortly after meeting with him for the first time. He is very friendly and a pleasure to work with! Looking back on our wedding, we are so happy we chose David. He truly has an eye for photography and his pricing is very reasonable for his skill level! For couples still looking for a wedding photographer, I can't stress enough how important this choice is - you only have one chance to capture all of these memories. It's also super important to have someone you feel comfortable with because they will be with you pretty much throughout the entire wedding day. David was very professional and arrived right on time on our wedding day. We were running about an hour behind schedule (I had 7 bridesmaids and all of us took longer than expected to get ready) so my husband and I were anxious about getting all the photos we needed. David helped direct and pose people (7 bridesmaids, 7 groomsmen, plus a big extended family) and made sure we got all the shots we needed. David sent us about 20 teaser photos a week after the wedding, and the rest about a month after the wedding. From what I know, this is a pretty quick turnaround time for wedding photography and we were very pleased. The photos were absolutely stunning! David also works with a videographer who recorded our ceremony and speeches, and we were very satisfied with the quality of that as well. Weddings can be very stressful and the best vendors are those you can depend on to do great work and make you feel more at ease. David took our family photos earlier this week and there aren't enough kind words to describe our experience with him from start to finish. When I was on the hunt for a new family photographer, I connected with many prospects and David stood out immediately with his great responsiveness, flexibility, and patience (I had a lot of questions). I never really had to wait long for an answer or question his reliability. The galleries that he shared of previous work proved his talent and expertise too. During the photo shoot, he showed great ability to adapt and guide. We have two toddlers boys and it's not the easiest thing to get them to look and smile at a camera for an hour, but David did it with such grace, creativity, and persistence. I have known David for 4+ years now and he's done two family photo sessions and photographed our daughter's first birthday. I am so late at writing this review but better late than never! Let me start off by saying that David is AMAZING. He is so easy to work with and is extremely patient (especially with young children and large groups)... and importantly - VERY TALENTED! Most recently, I booked David for a family holiday session for my family and our friend's family. We wanted to do separate photos for each family and also a few joint ones. David said no problem. We also were picky about the location since we had input from 2 families so we gave David some ideas on what we liked and he gave us suggestions on places that could work. Even though people always talk about "pregnancy glow," it can be a time when a woman doesn't feel her most beautiful due to swelling and weight gain. But David was great at capturing me at my best angles. I had the bright idea to have family photos done 2 weeks prior to arriving. I found David on Yelp and he offered me a price and what it included within minutes of my inquiry. A City Hall wedding goes by so fast (literally 5 minutes), so having a good photographer to make the moment last longer and capture the sweetness of your marriage is essential. I have so many good things to say about David and his work! I'm going to write a long review because I know other future brides out there really want to know details on photographers! First let me state some basics - -I needed a photographer to take engagement photos -I hate having my picture taken by others -We are on a budget. Like a really tight budget. Just like any of you reading this review, I went on yelp to search for an SF photographer. Somehow with the right combination of search words, I found David. Thank goodness! I just got all the photos (less than a week after the photo session!!) so I can write this review with confidence (links to photos below). 1. David and his assistant made us feel at ease. We had never done something like this so I was really nervous. I seriously considered having a drink or two before taking the photos. LOL. But there was no need. 2. David is affordable. Note - affordable in this case means you get MORE than what you pay for. Much, much, more. (And I know people don't like to openly discuss money and pricing and such, but for anyone planning a wedding who is NOT rich, hey it's a very important factor that can't be ignored.) I'm an internet freak. Prior to this I googled many, MANY, other photographers work to get an idea of what results you get at different price ranges. After seeing our photos from David, I can say that I like his photos better than some others who charge 3 times as much. Why do they charge so much? I'm guessing it's because they've been doing it for so many years. This is David's 1st year (possibly 2nd?) doing this, and I foresee his rates increasing as he becomes more in demand.. 3. What I wanted out of this photo session more than anything was to capture photos of us in my fav neighborhood in this city that I love. I love the Embarcadero and the backdrop of the hi-rise buildings in the FiDi. Before doing the photos I envisioned a photo of my fiance and I with the SF skyline behind us. These are the types of photos I could see myself framing and putting around the house, rather than those typical portrait style photos with our huge faces taking up the entire photo and looking all cheesy and smug. So I told David this, and voila, and he got me 100%. My husband and I found David from my cousin. He was the photographer for her wedding. We had already booked a photographer for our wedding but encountered some issues with our Photographer and a venue which we really want our engagement photos taken there. One of our first dates was at the Alameda historical movie theatre and due to some legal issues, unfortunately our Photographer which we hired did not want to take our photos there. As a result, we were on a mission to find a skillful Photographer who was willing to work with Alameda Movie Theatre conditions. When we first met David, we told him our situation and he was open minded and open to the challenge of taking engagement photos at a movie theatre! From then, we signed a contract for this engagement shoot and he made it happen. Overall, David and his Assistant were punctual, easy going and made us feel comfortable during the whole process. Even though David's main focus is weddings, I was fortunate to have booked him for several projects. The first shoot he did was for my dog. My dog is getting older and I wanted to make sure I had some nice professional photos of him. David was incredibly patient with him and did some of the most amazing pics of my dog! The second one was a mommy and doggy photo shoot. Again he exceeded my expectations. The most recent project he did for me was my head shot. Hiring the perfect photographer for your wedding can be a stressful decision because there are so many factors you need to consider (artistic style, skill, price, personality & flexibility) on top of the million other decisions you need to make for your wedding. Hiring David was one of the best decisions we made for ours! David is very talented, but luckily, he was willing to work within our budget. He was always VERY responsive to our questions, easy to work with, REALLY listened to what we wanted and even did silly things to make the whole wedding party laugh. I have to agree with the other yelper that David is a natural artist. There were some photos taken during our engagement session that I couldn't even remember taking because David was so quick! We just got back our wedding teasers and have received so many compliments that we just can't wait for the rest of the photos! His photography style and aesthetics were more "us." And his price point and turn around time for photos was also a major plus! David was so nice and super easy to work with. We found David Kim by accident when we were looking for another wedding photographer, and it was one of the best mistakes I have ever made. He arrived on time, was honest about not having done our friends wedding, but his photos, website, yelp reviews and personality just seemed spot on. We ended up hiring him for our engagement shoot, rehearsal dinner and our wedding! No, I am deifnitely not someone who likes to have her photo taken. We met David for the engagement shoot, and I was a little apprehensive, but honestly David put my husband at I at ease, and made the experience really fun! It also helped us to relax and have the trust we needed in him for our wedding day. David photographed our rehearsal dinner, where he quickly was welcomed in and got to know our entire family. My brother (who is an artist) was simply impressed at how talented and personable David was. On our wedding day, I was a little worried abotu having a campera in my face all day - but David and his assistant were fun, funny and skilled. They made the small children laugh, corralled the adults (which in my family can definitely be a challenge) and he made my husband and I look incredible! He provided us close to 1000 pictures, and we absolutely love every single one. My biggest challenge has been deciding which not to post everywhere! I now look through our photos, and am so happy to have them all. I think David captured every single guest in at least one image (and we had a lto of guests). Plus, the day was so hurried, there were a lot of things I never got to see, such as our welcome table or the pre-ceremony visiting and guest arrivals. We really enjoyed our baby photos David took for us. We were also happy with his rate: $200/hour for a family photo session (In case you were wondering, he charges $400/hour for weddings). We liked how he mildly directed us which was never commanding. We felt very comfortable with him the whole time. He also took candids which gave us a good mix of portrait style and "natural" photos. We also appreciated his eye for little details (e.g. we had a pillow that was bent over and he straightened it. He also moved things out of the shot like a cup in the background in another shot). Another thing you get with him is his high-end equipment and $$$ glass. I am a hobbyist photographer and noticed his gear. His pictures were much more vibrant and sharper than anything I could produce with my camera. We will be using him again to photograph our condo for a home exchange website and our daughter's first birthday. read more

Though we were not able to go inside of Legion of honor due to the closure of all museums on Monday, David led us to sutro bath which is an amazing place to go.
