I went in to have a bump on my foot evaluated. If took me a half hour to fill out the new patient medical history, but they told me to arrive early and it was very thorough. Dr. Kahan have me his full attention and took as long needed to discuss my condition. I asked him several additional questions about other foot problems (you just don't get to be 74 years old and not have a few foot problems!). He was very knowledgeable and very kind. Wow!! It was such a pleasure to have Dr. David Kahan remove my in grown toe nail. He made it so painless!! I was very nervous in the beginning but walked out like a champ. The anesthesia shots were the worst part, but didn't hurt too bad. He was very gentle with everything. Super friendly made me feel comfortable. Going back for my left side in a few weeks. The procedure was quick and he got both entire sides cleaned easily. He definitely knows what he's doing! I found Dr Kahan on Yelp as I was looking for a new foot doctor. My last doctor rushed me all the time and seemed to only be interested money, and wanted to perform a second surgery. So a second opinion is what I was after. Dr Kahan has Never rushed me, in fact most of my appointments seem to last at least 30 minutes. Dr Kahan has done a stellar job pinpointing my exact issue (plantar Fasciitis) and after a few months of seeing me I will need to have surgery but I trust this opinion. I think it is always a good idea to get a second opinion, not feel rushed or that you're an ATM machine. read more

Dr. Kahan is a lifesaver - literally! My boyfriend had a bacterial infection on his feet and Dr. Kahan saw him within an hour of us calling. Not only did he see us on his lunch, he didn't rush and spent almost an hour discussing the issue. He definitely wanted to figure out what was causing the infection and even called in the evening to check up on him. He saw him an additional two more times and we can't thank him enough. My insurance didn't cover Dr. Kahan but I decided to pay out of pocket for another opinion. I'm so glad I did. I've been to 2 doctors that told me I needed to have surgery for what looked like corns but NO ONE ever told me WHY! I didn't understand why something that looked so innocuous on my toes needed to be addressed surgically. Dr. Kahan was the FIRST doctor to tell me why and explained that it wasn't as simple as a corn removal. He also explained the type of surgery and that it wasn't as daunting as I thought it would be. One hears surgery and it makes them nervous. He disclosed he doesn't perform surgery but took my insurance card, actually looked up podiatrists covered by my insurance, and recommended someone. What doctor does that!!!He showed so much compassion and treated me like a patient he cared about. As a 57 year old female with toenail fungus, I searched the Internet and read all I could on toenail fungus. I had done treatments for more than 10 years. Now I wanted a cure. After reading about laser I made appointments with 3 podiatrist. I chose Dr. Kahan for my treatment because he was enthusiastic and genuine in his desire and ability to cure my toenail fungus. When he said "no one will try as hard as me" I believed him. He charged less than the other podiatrist, and has included two treatments to date. He also gave me a prescription strength anti-fungal cream to use each day, and a spray for my shoes. I go back in a couple of weeks for my third visit. The treatments are painless! All 10 toes are approximately 10 minutes. It has been three months, and my toe nails are almost all grown out. I have noticed a big improvement in the great toe that has had the fungus for 15 years. Found Dr. Kahan on google and he was very helpful and thorough. He saw mother on a very short notice and opened his office a little early to accommodate the schedule visit. He arranged for us to get X-rays in Elk Grove the day before so we can expedite the visit. His website is great and forms can be downloaded to fill ahead of time. I've had toe nail fungus for almost 20 years, and had tried all kind of over-the-counter and prescription products. No medicine ever got rid of the problem and were a pain (metaphorically) to apply every day, so I finally figured that I had nothing to lose by stopping the medications. I was wrong. The fungus spread, and soon it was on 7 toes -- plus one finger. The finger is what pushed me into laser treatment, which I had avoided because of the expense (and it wasn't covered by my insurance). After researching various options in Sacramento, Dr. Kahan was my first choice. Because the infected area on many of my toes was so thick, Dr. Kahan was very candid about not having a good chance for success and leaving the decision up to me about whether or not to try it. He did not pressure me in any way at all, so it was clear to me that my welfare, rather than his profit, was his higher priority. I went for it. I'm so happy! Just to be sure that he cured every one of my 8 infected digits, Dr. Kahan gave me a fourth treatment today. And, he didn't even charge me. Basically I had an ingrown toenail from hell, I neglected to get it taken care of for way too long because I was nervous to get the procedure done. With all the horror stories online and my own mother (who has had four ingrown toenail removals) telling me that I was going to die...I figured I would just let my toe fall off before going to a doctor. Well after a while it got so bad that I could not even wear socks with out feeling discomfort so I did a little research and found Dr. Kahan. I called on Monday, could have gone in that day but I needed one more day to prepare myself - so, I went in on the following Tuesday. At this point my toe is sensitive to even the cold air outside, so you could imagine how nervous I was to have work done on it but Dr. Kahan is an actual angel. He has a very warm personality and is super easy to joke around with. I was instantly at ease after the first few jokes. I felt no pain the entire procedure and I was in his office for no more than 30 minutes. Two days after the procedure now and my toe is looking and feeling fabulous. Answered all the little questions I had and made sure I was comfortable before starting the ingrown toenail surgery. $150 for the regular removal treatment. $250 for the permanent removal treatment. I went for the permanent one because I definitely don't want it growing back. An extra hundred is worth the investment imo. The procedure finished very quickly. Probably around 10 minutes. He is extremely friendly, engaging and spends all the time you need discussing your issue. He treats you like a person-not just a patient. I recently had my first ingrown toenail in over 20 years. Because I'm an Australian here without health insurance, I had self-treated for some 6 - 8 weeks, occasionally appearing to be improving my condition, only to see the infection spring out again. With international travel again soon ahead of me, I decided I needed to get professional help. I went to this doctor because his reviews were great! I do not have any complaints about Dr. Kahan at all. He is good doctor. He seemed knowledgeable in treating my toenail fungus. On the first appointment, he treated my nail with a laser and told me to come back in a few weeks. Now, the front desk staff is a whole another story. When I made the appointment, the woman on the woman was rude, short and unprofessional. When I went to the appointment, I realize the same woman (juanita) was working. She had this attitude and aggressive vibe about her. I told her I didn't get a chance to fill out the new patient paperwork and she had a smart reply about it. "That's why we send the paperwork to you" is what I believe she said. She finally found my insurance info after half hour of me waiting. Overall, she made me feel so uncomfortable that I told myself I would never want to encounter her again. Therefore, I have not returned to dr kahan. I can only comment on their customer service, and I think it's outstanding. I was called back by Dr. Kahan, and I was transferred to him, too, the two times I've made contact, and each time was a very pleasant talk with both the receptionist/secretary and the doctor. It turns out that my insurance covers my needs fully, but Dr. Kahan is not under that insurance, so I will go with that instead. However, if I'm disappointed with what I get, I will definitely make Dr. Kahan the next course of action. Very pleased with my appointment yesterday. Dr. Kahan was knowledgeable about current treatment modalities, was very nice, spent a lot of time with me and did a very thorough exam of my foot (and shoes!). The art of doing an actual physical exam seems to have been lost by many human doctors - who only seem to rely on diagnostic tests and never touch the patient. It was great to actually have a doctor spend time doing an exam, and asking and answering questions many questions, without making me feel rushed.
