Dr Uro treated my grandfather in the early 1980s. Sadly, I am not surprised to see all the negative reviews. He would routinely charge us more than Medacare would allow & then would make my mother pay out of pocket for the overage before she could leave the office. This gouging went on for a lomg time until she went to another provider when Dr Uro was out of the office -- the other care provider informed her that the overcharging was u professional. Dr. Uro has been at this a long time and knows what he is doing. I went to him to treat a pretty rough case of toe nail fungus I had let go way too long before looking for professional treatment. It takes a while because toe nails grow slowly and it isn't cheap, but if you go to all your appointments AND religiously follow his guidance at home, it works!! The laser treatment doesn't work if you don't do all the topical treatments, sprays, shoe changes, cleaning your shower and floors regularly, etc. These are all things Dr. Uro also explains during the appointments. I'd bet the people who give bad reviews saying it doesn't work probably don't change their habits that caused the toe nail fungus and other symptoms in the first place. read more

Big thanks To Dr. Uro and his team! I moved to Sacramento in 2014 and tried a couple local places for mani/pedis. Within a few months, I saw white spots starting on one of my toenails and went to a Kaiser podiatrist for help. She prescribed an oral medication that could cause liver damage. My body couldn't tolerate the medications (hello, medication allergy!) so I went back and was told that the 1/2 white nail could be surgically removed and acid would be used so a nail would never grow on that toe again. I asked about laser treatments and was told there wasn't any research to back it up and Kaiser won't do it and she recommended against it. Who wants to be missing a toenail?!? I'm not down for losing a nail or having any fungus, so I went to Dr. Uro. It took quite a few visits, but it was well worth it because I've been so happy to be free of toenail fungus. This past spring/summer, I considered finding a new pedicure place, but decided to stick to doing my own pedis. It's less relaxing, but it's not worth the risk of infection! If you're hesitant to give laser a try, I recommend that you give yourself a chance for a full recovery before you put dangerous Rx into your body or have your toenail removed. Dr. Uro is an incredibly knowledgeable and conscientious foot specialist. His positive energy and calm demeanor combine to put you right at ease and each of the staff members are as polite and friendly as they are competent. We've had a medical pedicure, a partial matrixectomy, and 2 of the prescribed 4 laser treatments for onychomycosis and been very pleased thusfar with the results. With respect to the laser, you have understand that it's a gamble, albeit a small one, and you also must consider that it will take at least 18 months for the average nail to grow completely out. Nationwide, the laser has proven to be much more effective than the orals, but while we're hearing there's a success rate of 80-90%, because the technology is so new, there's reluctance in the medical community to declare it a miracle cure since there is not yet a ton of available data on its efficacy. At any rate, as with any medical procedure, there's no guarantee the laser will work, but Dr. Uro was honest and forthright from the start and I feel very confident in the quality of care we have received in his office. read more

Not only was he delightful and knowledgable...he took one look at my toes and said he didn't think I even had fungus!! He took samples and sent to the lab; they confirmed this. Moving really matters to me, I walk about 30-50 miles a week. I was very afraid to have a surgery that could impact me adversely. I needed to have both feet operated on, modified Aiken procedures. Careful research: recommendations by various clinicians Mercy, UCD, Sutter hospital systems, orthotics department staff, personal friends, and prior patients, etc. produced several names for me to check into. Ultimately I narrowed it down to two. I paid for a private consult. They each reviewed my X-rays and Dr. Uro detected a problem/solution that no one else had. More importantly he noticed that I had a significant potential problem that had escaped detection for the last 2 years, possible osteopenia. He was right. At his urging I had another bone density test, done by UCD, and the results of that test changed the surgical options. We found out the night before the surgery. I will absolutely recommend him and his staff without reservation. They have been with him a long time (that speaks volumes), provide careful patient follow up, and have a plethora of resources that they make available to you. People turn to this treatment because of their insecurities and shell out hard earned money for zero results. When my wife retuned for her completion exam and complained that there was no change the only option presented was more treatments for more money. I had a free consult with Dr. Uro today. The office is in a multi-tenant medical building near Howe and Arden Way. I go with my gut feeling most of the time (and regret when I don't). I got a real creepy feeling at Dr. Uro's. The area that it's in is a very congested little area with a ton of medical buildings crammed in on side streets. The folks around there gave me the heebie-jeebies too. Well, I found Dr. Uro's office and was ushered into an exam room. It felt like they were trying to sell me from the moment I walked in. They took my shoes and put some kind of devices in them that plugged into the wall to sterilize them. Later in the consult, they tried to sell them to me. Dr. Uro came in and took a look at my feet, and then discussed toenail fungus with me. Nice enough guy and very knowledgable. But he talks fast and tried to get me to commit to starting the treatments before I left. When I told him I wanted to think about it, he wrapped up and left very abruptly. I know that doctors are selling their services and I'm OK with that. But when it feels like they're selling too hard or just interested in a quick buck, it's a turn off. The best experience I have had with a doctor in many, many years. I went to him with torn tendons in my left foot that 2 other doctors were unable to do much about. He recommended laser treatments to try to heal the tendons. I was somewhat hesitant about this treatment, but after one treatment I saw enough improvement that I lost any doubt about this type of procedure. I am still seeing him for other problems that I have with my feet, and am happy to say that every foot problem that I have is getting much better. Thank you Dr Uro! Another disappointing visit from a Podiatrist. They put me in a back room office where I first waited...then he comes in and hurriedly checks my feet, as I was interested in custom Orthotics. But he gave very little time and detail to all my feet symptoms, and as I was trying to tell him my concerns and history, he was in a hurry to leave the room, but first told me to go get a picture of my feet with his assistant. He did not talk about any options about what type of Orthotics would be good for me or why. Did not explain anything. So as I got my foot picture, standing on a hard flat surface I noticed some Orthotic samples hanging to my left, I reached out to look and feel one of them and wondered what kind I would have, but the assistant rushed me back out the door and did not explain anything. She returned me to the room, by which the doctor had escaped and onto other patients, I told her I still had questions for him to answer. I waited a long time and he comes in getting something for someone else saying, that he will be back to answer my questions. I was feeling rather upset and almost just got up to leave as I felt insulted that he interrupted my appointment time again already and I had questions I needed to talk about right away, but I waited a long time. He finally returned, but by then I couldn't remember in order what important information I needed to address, and it was time to go. Being cut off from your appointment and then left waiting for a long time was very rude. I felt he was not caring, in a hurry, and I doubted his knowledge about what he was going to do or order. I did ask him well. what do you think about my feet and condition?? He said, well, they have circulation. Good grief. I had numerous problems going on, and he had no explanations. When I checked out, the office staff could not tell me what type of Orthotics he was even going to order, but could only give me a paper about Metatarsalgia. I did not pay anything up front, but they said he would order some. I came away feeling very uneasy and the next few days very disturbed about the whole appointment, and now I do not want to buy any Orthotics form this office, as I do not trust his ability to fully diagnose my foot problem or even match what would be the correct pair for me, as he did not even discuss this with me. I have been seeing Dr Uro for a few years now. I had toenail fungus. My previous doc removed my nail. Worst thing he could do. Dr Uro has been treating it for a couple years. It is halfway grown out and looks so much better! I had 3 more toes affected and they are completely clear. He has also treated me for a broken ankle. I just can't say enough about him and his entire staff! I have had 2 sets of orthotics made! I have been standing for 35 years in my profession and was in terrible pain for 32 years of them! He was very precise in the custom molding of my foot! I can stand and walk for hours now! Adam his office manager is so professional, funny and sweet! It's all about him and his money, not his patients. I had plantar fasciitis and was referred to Dr. Uro. At 8:00 am, immediately before the appointment, his office called me, saying that Dr. Uro had to cancel, couldn't reschedule for a little later and that I had to call back. They couldn't make another appointment while I was on the phone. When I finally got in to see him, he tried to upsell me on orthotics, saying the ones insurance provides were no good. I am very happy with the results from Dr. Uro's toenail treatment. It has been over two years now and and I am still fungus free! I had been embarrassed of my toes for most of my adult life. Now I love to wear sandals. Yes, it's expensive and, yes, it temporarily hurts when the laser is going over your nails. Dr. Uro has a way of making casual conversation so you don't notice it as much. STAY AWAY!!!! This place is a total disaster. I would go as far to say this guy is a fraud. Here is my horrible experience with this place. Over twenty years ago I had an ingrown left big toe nail. I went to this office to have it checked out and Dr. Uro recommended surgery to correct the toe nail. I had the surgery done by Dr. Uro. around three months after the surgery I developed a toe fungus in the same toe nail. After many lazer treatments over the past twenty years the problem is worse than ever. The toe nail fungus is still there and just as bad as ever. I've spent a large sum of money over the years going in for lazer treatments that Dr. Uro suggested. No improvement at all. There was one office visit I had that was for a lazer treatment. The treatment was done by an intern or trainee that I've never seen before. Dr. Uro didn't even see me that visit. By the way. The lazer treatment from the intern/ trainee hurt like Hell! the trainee and person with her both looked like they had no clue what they were doing. Currently I have to shave the nail down to nothing every six weeks to prevent it from hurting and looking awful. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I was one of the skeptics about using the laser procedure to cure my toenail fungus, something I'd fought for 15-20 years. My dermatologist was a skeptic who said there was no scientific research to show the efficacy of the laser treatment. I had used topicals, with no results, and oral medications, with limited and not lasting results. So I finally decided to try the laser treatment, having seen Dr. Uro in the past for orthotics. I began treatments in the summer of 2014, diligently sprayed my shoes daily as well as used the ultraviolet light, used an anti fungal on my toes along with the laser treatment, and never went barefoot in my home or elsewhere. By the spring of 2016 the fungus was gone, my nails had grown back out, and as of summer 2017 it remains gone!!! I am now a convert, and will go back for treatment if I see even a tiny return of the fungus. Dr. Uro, while clearly busy and likely overbooked, always took time to check the progress, talk with me, explain what he was doing and why, and was encouraging. I did not ever feel a "sales pitch" from him or his staff. And I rarely had to wait even 5 minutes at any of my appointments to start the treatment. Yes, the treatments are somewhat costly. If you can afford them, are very careful about following his advice, and have the patience to continue for a year or more, you are likely to see results. This was a strange experience, to say the least. For $99 I purchased the single toe option treatment through Amazon Local. I wanted to wait until later to try the more expensive five or ten toe options, as I had only partial success with another doctor. So I traveled 25 minutes to an old office near Howe and Watt. As my sandals were removed and irradiated, Dr. Uro gave me a well-rehearsed (probably oft repeated) pitch on foot cleaning practices, irradiation devices for shoes, vitamins for toe nails, and all the types of laser treatments and their costs. Sort of an infomercial for his products and services. During this time he was clearly checking to see how I was reacting. Listening patiently, I finally told him I just wanted to get what I paid for--laser treatment on one toe. Just as I said this, he jumped up and declared he couldn't treat me because I needed treatment on other toes. If that was the case, then why did he sell the option for one toe without any restrictions, and why did he give me the long infomercial-like talk before throwing me out? I protested that I already paid for the service, but he wasn't interested. He abruptly showed me the door. On the way out the clerk calmly reminded me I could refund my voucher through Amazon, as if she had explained this option multiple times before. My only conclusion: this seemed like a business plan to draw in a customer to upsell other products and more expensive services. If the customer did not want them, there was no apparent refund cost to the business--Amazon would take care of it. But this wasn't just false advertising; I actually paid for a service I didn't receive, taking two hours off work, and driving 50 miles round-trip. read more

I see both positive and negative reviews on Dr. Uro. I think that is because nail fungus is an extremely persistent/resisitant thing to treat. I can only speak to my experience here, but I have been very satisfied with the treatment given by Dr. Uro and his staff. The difference in what my nails look like today from when the treatments were first begun is pretty amazing. Yes, I am still working with a couple stubborn nails, but they are slowly improving as well. I think it is important to say that if you are looking for instant or very quick results, you will be disappointed. It takes a long time for a nail to grow out and you have to be very methodical in keeping up a regimine at home so you don't reinfect. Would I recommend Dr. Uro? Yes, absolutely. He is very patient, encouraging, and intelligent. He and his staff do everything they can to make you comfortable while you are there. I wouldn't trust my toes to anyone else. read more
