Well I'm in the Automotive business of customer service, and have been for over 17 years. I was…read moreinvolved in a three car accident that broke 4 ribs, caused a concussion, and punctured my lung. When I departed Virginia Beach General Hospital, the Doctor referred me to VA Spine Care, and to a Lawyer in Downtown Norfolk. By this time, my family in showing their care recommended Attorney Sherman C. Smith. After talking with the Norfolk Lawyer, and setting an appointment, I called Attorney Sherman C. Smith. My family had forwarded the accident pictures to him. After talking with Attorney Sherman C. Smith I realized through his demeanor that he was very attentive, and showed through his words that he really wanted to help me. I called the Norfolk lawyer back and cancelled my appointment. I agreed to allow Attorney Sherman C. Smith to represent me. After telling him that I was injured with 4 broken ribs, and without transportation, he arranged to come from Hampton, to my home in Norfolk to visit me, and to get my deposition. That right there was convincing enough for me to let me know that this person has great customer service skills, and made me feel valued throughout my injury. I felt like he cared to assist me, and that I was not just another client number. This is how Attorney Sherman C. Smith made me feel. After having our case postponed in January 2016 by the first Judge, Attorney Sherman C. Smith made several keen observations about the State Trooper. He noticed a pattern that showed a lack of integrity. This was vital in us returning back to court February 2016. He used that wisdom to navigate his way through to a successful decision. It was though he was floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee. Even the Judge commended him for "great lawyering". Attorney Sherman C. Smith was able to get the Judge to move to strike my case, and to dismiss the charge, which now has opened the door for my full compensation from having been T-boned by the third driver. Masterful! Upon the decision by the Judge, the entire Court marveled at the skill by which Attorney Sherman C. Smith operated his lawyering in the Court. I was very impressed, and glad that Attorney Sherman C. Smith was recommended by my family. With the skill he has shown, I have complete confidence that my financial compensation from his aggressive pursuit of the Insurance companies will garner my complete compensation from this tragic accident. Stay tuned, for the rest of this story. Attorney Sherman C. Smith has proven to be worthy of his recommendation. Sincerely Carl Dyson

Afterward, I filed for divorce with Ms Lewis. She dragged out the divorce by putting case on hold against my stated objection. At years mark, my case handed over to attorney in firm which I billed for new attorney catching up on case. A month later, the case returns to Ms. Lewis who continued stalling and billing me. It was two years later the divorce was granted. I was extremely disappointed with tactics to drag out case continuing billing any and everything. l would recommend John W Lee firm to my worst enemy.

I retained Raphael Connor at the Law Offices of John W. Lee PC for help with my divorce process…read more 1. Mr. Connor went to a pendente lite hearing to represent me after I asked him to reschedule, telling him I was afflicted with a very severe bout of kidney stones and was under the influence of narcotics, resulting in a pendente lite order and, thus, didn't request the conditions I'd like to have been attached to the order, that allowed my wife to take actions which harmed my interests in my business. 2. Mr. Connor didn't inform me of the pendente lite hearing before it happened and I had to hear about it with only a few days notice from my wife. 3. Mr. Connor didn't inform me of a letter from my wife's attorney, which had a deadline that led to their request of a show cause hearing. Instead, he said that he never received the letter from my wife's attorney, even though the invoice he sent me indicates that the same day he should have received the letter, he did something concerning it. Thankfully, the show cause was averted when I was able to convince my wife's attorney that I didn't breach the pendente lite order. 4. Mr. Connor rarely replied to my emails and calls in a timely manner, if he replied at all. 5. Despite being told, on numerous occasions, to CC me in all correspondence with my wife's attorney, Mr. Connor failed to do this. 6. Upon requesting advice, Mr. Connor often didn't give advice. 7. When my wife breached the pendente lite order numerous times, ordering her not to engage in harassing behavior, I asked Mr. Connor to file show cause hearings, which he did not do. On more than one occasion I directed Mr. Connor to file a show cause for my wife's breaches, and he ignored me, despite being very clearly directed to do this. After a terrible judicial settlement conference, he told me he didn't file the show cause hearings because he thought he could resolve everything at the judicial settlement conference. Mr. Connor's refusal to file show causes for these breaches made it more costly for me in the end as there was nothing to deter my wife from committing other breaches that caused significant harm. 8. During our Judicial Settlement Conference, Mr. Connor told me that the judge would give my wife our business if I didn't come to an agreement with her that was disadvantageous to me. A business that he knew my name was on most of the documents for. He seemed most interested in closing the case rather than getting the best result for me, his client. 9. During our Judicial Settlement Conference, Mr. Connor just accepted my wife's claims as fact and, without my consent at all, offered her and her attorney something like "how about each party walk away with this, without paying each other anything, and (my wife) gets to keep the business?" His doing so put me in a significant position of weakness in negotiations. 10. Mr. Connor didn't request any interrogatories or discovery from my wife, whilst I was burdened immensely by a large amount of discovery, until after the Judicial Settlement Conference, leaving me in a position of disadvantage when it came time to negotiate at the judicial settlement conference. 11. Mr. Connor's actions cost me significantly more money in the end as I was forced to fire him. His firm offered me a refund and I implored his lawfirm, John W. Lee, to help salvage the case and fix the problems he caused but they didn't do so.

I will start by saying I noticed the business has two different pages of reviews, so I wrote a…read morereview on both. I have hesitated to write this review because I do not like saying I had a bad experience but with this one this experience start uphill and went downhill very quickly. I hired Mr. Conway to do my rebuttal for a GOMAR expecting that at the least, the rebuttal would look professional and be submitted on time since I paid him on time and provided dates and information on time. The rebuttal draft I was sent multiple days after it was due was erroneous and sloppy and was critiqued heavily by many professionals as "something an 8th grader would have produced" and I cannot say I disagreed. I spent time reviewing and finding error in the draft that was already late and sent them back to Mr. Conway outline the areas that needed to be fixed and the character statements that were missing that I wanted included assuming I would see this in the final draft. Nope, the final draft was a duplicate submission of the sloppily, semi-professional, erroneous document that was sent to me late and only after calling to ask him if it had been submitted. Honestly, I expected better as this made an already rough situation to deal with so much worse and irreversible and I feel as though my end of the contract was upheld; however, Mr. Conway's was not and he still received full payment of services beforehand. This is not how I believe a professional takes care of a client and really made me feel like I was another checked box for this law firm. I am a veteran business supporter, but I think if you're looking for an attorney find someone familiar with the area to recommend legal services to you.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to Attorney Scott Hockenberry of Daniel Conway & Associates…read morefor the unwavering commitment, legal expertise, and compassion he has shown throughout my son's military court-martial appeal. He came highly recommended and did not disappoint. From the very first phone conversation, Mr. Hockenberry has been attentive, responsive, and deeply engaged. He answers every phone call, replies to every email, and never leaves me in the dark about the status of the appeal process. His knowledge of the military justice system is truly remarkable. What stands out most is his ability to translate the complexities of the court-martial appeal process into clear and understandable terms, something I greatly appreciated as a parent navigating an overwhelming and emotional situation. Mr. Hockenberry never made me feel like "just a family member" he made sure my voice was heard, my questions were answered, and my concerns were respected. Above all, he is honest. He never made false promises, but he always provided hope grounded in law, facts, and preparation. His confidence and professionalism gave me strength during some of the darkest days of this journey. If you are looking for an attorney who is not only skilled in military law but also deeply human in his approach, Scott Hockenberry is that attorney.
